President Joe Biden announced Thursday he will pump $36 billion into a union pension plan to prevent drastic benefit cuts for pensioners, just a week after he signed a railroad labor deal opposed by several union organizations.
The announcement marks the largest federal award for retiree pensions in history and is funded by Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, according to the White House. The $36 billion will go to the Central States Pension Fund, which is for mostly Teamster union members.
The $36 billion amounts to about half of the available federal funds for pension relief under the American Rescue Plan. The pension fund, which covers 350,000 members, was at risk of cuts as high as 60%, but the White House said the fund will now be stable until at least 2051.

A new law being seriously considered by lawmakers in New York City could strip landlords of the ability to perform criminal background checks on prospective tenants.
In addition to being supported by a significant number of lawmakers, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has suggested he is open to working with lawmakers on the proposal.
“No one should be denied housing because they were once engaged with the criminal justice system, plain and simple,” a spokesperson for the mayor’s office told Fox Business in a statement. “We will work closely with our partners in the City Council to ensure this bill has maximum intended impact.”
The Guardian just reported the results of a study of 2 million-year-old DNA found in northern Greenland.
Two-million-year-old DNA from northern Greenland has revealed that the region was once home to mastodons, lemmings and geese, offering unprecedented insights into how climate change can shape ecosystems.
The breakthrough in ancient DNA analysis pushes back the DNA record by 1m years to a time when the Arctic region was 11-19C warmer than the present day. The analysis reveals that the northern peninsula of Greenland, now a polar desert, once featured boreal forests of poplar and birch trees teeming with wildlife. The work offers clues to how species might adapt, or be genetically engineered, to survive the threat of rapid global heating.
Prof Eske Willerslev of the University of Cambridge and the University of Copenhagen, said: “A new chapter spanning 1m extra years of history has finally been opened and for the first time we can look directly at the DNA of a past ecosystem that far back in time.”
Translation for American readers: Two million years ago, northern Greenland was (at the top of the range) 34 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than it is today. What caused this stupendous change in Arctic temperatures during a period when Homo sapiens either didn’t exist or numbered only a few hundred thousand?

The last ice age featured the mile-thick Laurentide ice sheet that covered most of Canada and the northern contiguous United States. This ice sheet melted and formed the Great Lakes 20,000 years ago—thousands of years before the earth’s human population numbered more than a few million.
If the earth’s climate enters a prolonged warming trend that returns the average temperature of northern Greenland to what it was 2 million years ago, should we be alarmed that human activity is the cause?

(Natural News) Speaking at a private gathering of the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) over the weekend, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis indicated plans to hold pharmaceutical giants Pfizer and Moderna accountable for making false claims about their respective covid “vaccines.”
With the help of Florida Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo, DeSantis says he plans “to hold these manufacturers accountable for this mRNA [shot] because they said there were no side effects and we know that there have been a lot.”
“We did a study in Florida and we saw an 86 percent increase in cardiac related activity in people ages 18 to 39 from mRNA shots and so we’re going to be doing some stuff to bring accountability there. (Related: DeSantis believes that children should not get jabbed for covid – but the shots, in his mind, are apparently just fine for adults.)
While the corporations behind vaccines administered under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) are shielded from legal liability for injuries and deaths, that immunity goes away in the event that vaccine products were fraudulently produced – which appears to be the case for both Pfizer and Moderna’s respective messenger RNA injections.
Brook Jackson, a whistleblower who worked with Ventavia Research Group, which conducted Pfizer’s phase III clinical trial in Texas, filed a lawsuit alleging that Pfizer is guilty of not only fraud but also abuse and protocol violations.
Former BlackRock manager Ed Dowd is compiling evidence as well that supports Jackson’s claims, as well as DeSantis’ pursuit of both Pfizer and Moderna for fraud. Ever since the launch of Operation Warp Speed, non-covid deaths that Dowd and many others believe are linked to the injections have skyrocketed among working-age American adults between the ages of 18 and 64.
Dowd made an appearance recently on “Ask Dr. Drew” in which he argued that the fully “vaccinated” employed population is experiencing much worse health right now compared to the general population.
About 100 million people in the United States work, and within this demographic the disability rate is about 25 percent higher than it is among the overall population of the country, Dowd stated.
“Something is going on with our workforce,” Dowd explained, lamenting the fact that the corporate-controlled media refuses to address what he says is a “huge problem.”
In Florida, covid injections can no longer be mandated as a condition of getting an education or working. DeSantis signed legislation in November 2021 prohibiting such mandates while many other states continue to enforce them.
“We wouldn’t let them mandate on you in Florida,” DeSantis said.
“And then what? They’re not allowed to sue or get any sort of recourse when this was something they wanted to do? So this is something that we’re going to lead on in Florida. We’ve always gotten ahead of these things and we’re going to continue to do that going forward.”
