Instruction on the Festival of the Ascension of Our Lord

 Rev. Fr. Leonard Goffine’s

The Church’s Year

At the Introit the Church sings the words which were spoken by the angels to the apostles and disciples, after the Ascension of our Lord:

INTROIT Ye men of Galilee, why wonder you, looking up to heaven? allel.: He shall so come as you have seen him going up into heaven. Allel., allel., allel. (Acts I. 11.), Oh, clap your hands, all ye nations; shout unto God with the voice of joy. (Ps. XLVI. 2.) Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

COLLECT Grant, we beseech Thee, O Almighty God, that we who believe Thy only‑begotten Son, our Redeemer, to have this day ascended into the heavens, may ourselves also in, mind dwell amid heavenly things. Through the same our Lord Jesus Christ Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the Unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end, Amen.

LESSON (Acts I. 1-11.) The former treatise I made, O Theophilus, of all things which Jesus began to do and to teach , until the day on which, giving commandments by the Holy Ghost to the apostles ,whom he had chosen, he was taken up: to whom also he showed himself alive after his passion, by many proofs, for forty days appearing to them, and speaking of the kingdom of God. And eating together with them, he commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but should wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard (saith he) by my mouth: for John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost, not many days hence. They, therefore, who were come together, asked him, saying: Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? But he said to diem: It is not for you to know the times or moments which the Father hath put in his own power; but you shall receive the power of the Holy Ghost coming upon you, and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had said these things, while they looked on, he was raised up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they were beholding him going up to heaven, behold, two men stood by them in white garments, who also said: Ye men of Galilee, why stand yon looking up to heaven? This Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come, as you have seen him going into heaven.

EXPLANATION This gospel of St. Luke addressed to Theophilus, a Christian of note in Antioch, contains an account of the life, sufferings, and death of Jesus up to the time of His ascension into heaven. The Evangelist continues his account in the Acts of the apostles, in which he describes in simple words that which Jesus did during the forty days following His Resurrection, and the manner in which He ascended into heaven in the presence of His apostles. Rejoice that Christ today has entered into the glory gained by His sufferings and death, and pray: I rejoice, O King of heaven and earth, in the glory Thou bast this day attained in heaven. Sing to God, ye kingdoms of the earth: sing ye to the Lord: sing ye to God, who mounteth above the heaven of heavens to the east. Give ye glory to God for Israel, his magnificence and his power is in the clouds. God is wonderful in his saints, the God of Israel is he who will give power and strength to his people, blessed be God. (Ps.LXVII. 33‑36.)

GOSPEL (Mark. XVI. 14-20.) At that time, Jesus appeared to the eleven as they were at table: and he upbraided them with their incredulity and hardness of heart, because they did not believe them who had seen him after he was risen again. (And he said to them: Go ye into the whole world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned: And these signs shall follow them that believe. In my name they shall cast out devils: they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents: and if they shall drink any deadly thing,  it shall not hurt them: they shall lay their hands upon the sick; and they shall recover.) And the Lord Jesus after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God. But they going forth preached everywhere, the Lord working withal, and confirming the word with signs that followed.

The part of this gospel which is within the marks of parenthesis, is the gospel for the feast of St: Francis Xavier.

Why did Christ say to His apostles: Go ye into the whole world and preach the gospel to all creatures?

To show that no one is to assume the office of preaching, but must look for his mission from the lawful pastors of the Church. And when Christ sends His apostles into the whole worlds to all nations without exception, He shows His willingness to save all men. If the designs of God are not fulfilled, the blame is not to be attributed to God, but to man, who either does not accept the doctrine of the gospel, or accepting, does not live in accordance with it, or else renders himself by his obduracy in vice, unworthy of the gospel.

Is faith without good works sufficient for salvation?

No, faith that is not active in love, not fruitful in good works, and therefore not meritorious, (Gal. V. 6.) is not sufficient for salvation. “Such faith,” says St. Anselm, “is not the faith of a Christian, but the faith of the devil.” Only he who truly believes in Christ and His doctrine, and lives in accordance with it, will be saved.

Is ours then the true faith since all the faithful do not work miracles; as Christ has predicted?

St. Gregory very beautifully replies to this question: “Because the Redeemer said that true faith would be accompanied by miracles, you must not think that you have not the faith, because these signs do not follow; these miracles had to be wrought in the beginning of the Church, because faith in her had to be increased by these visible signs of divine power.” And even now when such signs are necessary for the propagation of the faith, and victory over unbelief, God gives His faithful power to work them.

Are miracles wrought now in the Catholic Church?

Yes, for there have been at all times saints in the Church, who, as seen from their lives, have wrought miracles, on account of their faith, which even the heretics cannot deny; for instance St. Francis Xavier, who in the sight of the heathens, raised several dead persons to life. In a spiritual manner all pious Catholics still work such miracles; for, as St. Chrysostom says, “they expel devils when they banish sin, which is worse than the devil; they speak new tongues when they converse no longer on vain and sinful things, but on those which are spiritual and heavenly.” “They take up serpents,” says St. Gregory, “when by zealous exhortations they lift others from the shame of vice, without being themselves poisoned; they drink deadly things without being hurt by them, when they hear improper conversation without being corrupted or led to evil; they lay their hands upon the sick and heal them, when they teach the ignorant, strengthen by their good example those who are wavering in virtue, keep the sinner from evil, and similar things.” Strive to do this upon all occasions, O Christian, for God willingly gives you His grace and you will thus be of more use to yourself and others, and honor God more than by working the greatest miracles.

Where and how did Christ ascend into heaven?

From Mount Olivet where His sufferings began, by which we learn, that where our crosses and afflictions begin which we endure with patience and resignation, there begins our reward. Christ ascended into heaven by His own power, because He is God, and now in His glorified humanity He sits at the right hand of His Father, as our continual Mediator.

In whose presence did Christ ascend into heaven?

In the presence of His apostles, and many of His disciples, whom He had previously blessed, (Luke XXIV. 51.) and who, as St. Leo says, derived consoling joy from His ascension. Rejoice, also, O Christian foul, for Christ has today opened heaven for you, and you may enter it, if you believe in Christ, and live in accordance with that faith. St. Augustine says: “Let us ascend in spirit with Christ, that when His day comes, we may follow with our body.

Yet you must know, beloved brethren, that not pride, nor avarice, nor impurity, nor any other vice ascends with Christ; for with the teacher of humility pride ascends not, nor with the author of goodness, malice, nor with the Son of the Virgin, impurity. Let us then ascend with Him by trampling upon our vices and evil inclinations, thus building a ladder by which we can ascend; for we make a ladder of our sins to heaven when we tread them down in combating them:”

ASPIRATION O King of glory! O powerful Lord! who hast this day ascended victoriously, above all heaven, leave us not as poor orphans; but send us, from the Father, the Spirit of truth whom Thou hast promised. Alleluia.

Why is the paschal candle extinguished after the gospel on this day?

To signify that Christ, of whom the candle is a figure, has gone from His disciples.

INSTRUCTION ON MIRACLES

And these signs shall follow them that believe.(Mark XVI. 17.)

What is a miracle?

A miracle, as defined by St. Thomas of Aquin, is anything beyond the ordinary, fixed state of things that is done through God. Thus when the sun stands still in his course, when thousands are fed with five loaves and two small fishes, when by a word or simple touch the dead are raised to life, the blind see, and the deaf hear, these are things contrary to nature, and are miracles which can only be performed by God or those persons to whom God has given the power.

That God can work miracles, cannot be denied. God has made the laws of nature, and at any time it pleases Him, He can suddenly suspend them, and that God has at times done so, we have more solid and undeniable proofs, than we have for the most renowned and best authenticated facts of history, far more witnesses testify to miracles, the whole world has believed them, and been converted by them; more than eleven millions of martyrs have died to confirm and maintain their truth; no one gives up his life for lies and deceptions; the Jews and pagans have admitted them, but ascribed them to witchcraft and the power of demons rather than to God; by this they proved and acknowledged the truth of miracles, because in order to deny them, they were driven to false and absurd explanation of them.

Can men work miracles?

No; only God works miracles through man to whom He gives the power. The history of the Christian Church in all ages bears testimony, that men have wrought miracles in the name of Jesus, as, for example, the apostles and the saints.

Can miracles be worked by the relics of saints, pictures, &e.?

The Church, in the Council of Trent, solemnly declares, that we are never to believe that there is in any picture or relic any hidden power by which a miracle can, be worked, and that we are not to honor or ask any such thing of them. Therefore no miracle can ever be worked by them, but God can perform miracles through them, and He has done so, as the holy Scriptures and the history of the Church of Christ both prove. But when through certain pictures (usually called miraculous pictures) miracles do take place, that no deception may occur, the Church commands that such a picture shall not be exposed for the veneration of the faithful, until the truth of the miracles performed is by a rigorous examination established beyond doubt; she then causes such pictures to be respectfully preserved as monuments of the goodness and omnipotence of God.

Why are there not so many miracles in our ties as there were in the first days of the Church?

Because the Church is no longer in need of such extraordinary testimony to the truth of her teachings. Thus St. Augustine writes: “He who in the face of the conversion of the world to Christianity demands miracles, and strives to doubt those which have been wrought in favor of this most wonderful change, is himself an astonishing miracle of irrationality and stupidity;” and St. Chrysostom says: “The question is sometimes asked: How happens it there are not so many miracles now‑a‑days? The answer is, because the knowledge of Christ is propagated all over the earth, and the Church is like a tree which, having once taken deep root and grown to a certain height, no longer needs to be carefully watered and supported.”

Service

 By Anna Von Reitz

We serve our Creator out of love and our fellowman out of love; we also serve our country out of love.  That’s really all there is that makes any sense of serving others and things beyond ourselves.
Observe the teaching of Yeshuah about service.  The Master washed the feet of his Disciples.  He did this out of love for them.  He humbled himself and served, so that they might learn to serve. And to love.
The servant is often the master in life, and we would all do well to learn this lesson, for love is a decision— and we are the decision-makers.
It isn’t the man with the big important title and the nice suit and all the bells and whistles, the money, the University education, the position in society — not the warlord, the business mogul, the politician, the priest, or the king — it is none of this that makes a man great.
And all of us, deep down, know that.
It’s the one who serves the good of all, who is the True Master. Only such a one is the Shepherd of Men.
With kindness he guides us. With humility he serves us.  With determination he resists all evil. And in his heart he carries the seeds of every cosmos that is, that has ever been, or will ever be.
Other masters come and go, aggrandizing themselves, making a cult of their own face, serving their own ego, lusting after power and money and cherishing beauty only for the prestige of owning it.
They sip champagne, they talk about “the common people” and call us “livestock” and, accordingly, they make plans to treat men like animals. To put ID chips in us.  To claim ownership of us. To tax us on our own labor.  And use us as collateral for their debts.
They never quite realize that by demeaning the rest of us, they are doubly demeaning themselves. They don’t see the connection between denying another man’s right to live and to be free and to speak his mind — and having their own rights denied.
They have reduced themselves to this condition, by believing in and practicing The Law of the Jungle, instead of the Law of Love.
They do not serve anyone or anything but themselves and their gluttonous self-interest.  They walk around like empty shells, always hungry, always wanting more, more, more.
Even they couldn’t tell you why they need more, as they get into their limousine and look out over their lordly estates. They lust after more beyond all reason.  Never satisfied. Never happy.
And deep down, they are always afraid of losing what they’ve got.
They are forever looking over their shoulder for whatever threat there may be to their “lifestyle”.  Secretly terrified to be poor.
Never at peace. Grasping.  Miserable. Sick in mind and heart. Empty as a hole in a rock.
This is because a man is not an animal– no matter how depraved, how selfish, or how empty he is.  He can take no recourse in instinct driving him onward to his uncertain ends.
And he still has the need to serve.
So, such men, deluded about what is true about our shared nature and about their own lives, serve Satan instead of serving the True God– but they serve just the same. Indeed, they become enslaved.
Serving the True God brings joy and peace and friendship, because love begets love and hope and kindness and abundance and all good things, just as carrot seeds raise up carrots in the spring.  Life is your inheritance and beauty is your constant companion.
Serving Satan and his idols brings emptiness and alienation, because selfishness begets more selfishness.   You become your own Black Hole.  And death is your only portion.
In the words of Joshua, “Choose this day whom you will serve….” and let it be a conscious choice, with the end results clearly set before you.

Undercover video footage captured by James O'Keefe appears to reveal that Fox fired Tucker Carlson at the order of Dominion, Big Pharma

Image: Undercover video footage captured by James O’Keefe appears to reveal that Fox fired Tucker Carlson at the order of Dominion, Big Pharma

(Natural News) More shocking, but not surprising, revelations have come to light about why Tucker Carlson was fired suddenly by Fox News a few weeks ago.

As you might expect, the pharmaceutical industry was behind Carlson’s canning as he was exposing too much truth about the dangers of Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) “vaccines” on his widely viewed program. The Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit also played a role in Fox producer Sean Langille’s decision to axe Carlson from the network.

None other than independent journalist James O’Keefe, operating under his newly minted O’Keefe Media Group (OMG), brought all this to light with yet another one of his iconic undercover investigations, the video footage of which you can watch below.

(Related: Right before the 2020 election, Carlson was one of the only mainstream journalists to call out Hunter Biden over the incriminating contents of his laptop, which are not a “Russian hoax” like the globalist-controlled media continues to claim.)

Fox News and many other media networks are controlled by and beholden to Big Pharma

Langille told an undercover OMG journalist that Big Pharma advertisers such as Pfizer were pulling away from Fox News prior to Carlson’s firing.

“Now that he’s gone,” Langille revealed, referring to Carlson, “they’re starting to come back.”

Most media networks, Langille further said, are controlled by the pharmaceutical industry, which is why nearly every commercial is promoting some new “blockbuster” drug.

Brighteon.TV

“When it’s corporate media, you’re beholden to advertisers,” Langille said, emphasizing that Pfizer tends to lead the pack, hence why many, including Langille, refer to the company as “Big Pharma.”

“We’re learning it was part of [the Dominion settlement],” Langille revealed about why Fox got rid of Carlson: to keep Big Pharma’s advertising dollars flowing.

According to Fox, it is “categorically false” that the Dominion settlement had anything to do with Carlson’s termination.

O’Keefe believes that Langille’s insider knowledge about this could be coming from his “friend,” who also happens to be a powerful Joe Biden operative, Mike LaRosa. Langille finds it interesting, he revealed, that “no one is talking about” LaRosa’s career transition away from being Jill Biden’s press secretary last summer.

In the comments on O’Keefe’s undercover video of Langille speaking, someone wrote that he is praying for the reporter’s safety – because if anyone is going to “split this all open” and lay it bare for the world to see, it will be O’Keefe.

“‘Conspiracy theorists’ are right again,” wrote another about how everything Natural News and other independent media have been reporting about how the corporate media is controlled by and beholden to Big Pharma is true.

“It’s a fed term used to slander those who oppose the system,” responded another about the deep state’s denigrating use of “conspiracy theorists” to try to discredit those who dare to expose and tell the ugly and inconvenient truths about the corporate media.

Another warned that the deep state behind Big Pharma and Big Media is “going to cause another war” because “that’s what they do” whenever they start to lose control of the narrative.

“Unfortunately, the next one is going to be the second U.S. Civil War,” this person contends. “The number-one job of any country’s government is to keep the people out of war, but the globalists in power are hellbent on keeping America at war constantly.”

“They wouldn’t need to silence him if they were honest about their practices,” wrote another about Fox‘s rejection of Carlson. “This really is a fascist government in control of our country.”

Biden, Dems, left-wing media keep repeating lie about 'white supremacy' being biggest threat: Here's why

Image: Biden, Dems, left-wing media keep repeating lie about ‘white supremacy’ being biggest threat: Here’s why

(Natural News) President Joe Biden, the man who claimed during his 2020 campaign that he would “unite” our country, once again fanned the flames of racial and political division during a highly inflammatory speech at Howard University in Washington, D.C. over the weekend, during which he falsely claimed that “white supremacy” is “the most dangerous terrorist threat to our homeland.”

The following day, Homeland Security Secretary and failed Disinformation Governance Board overlord Alejandro Mayorkas agreed with Biden, again falsely claiming that “domestic violent extremism is our greatest threat right now.”

“It tragically is. And the terrorism context, domestic violent extremism is our greatest threat right now. Individuals are driven to violence because of ideologies of hate, anti-government sentiment, false narratives, personal grievances. Regrettably, we have seen a rise in white supremacy. The principle underlying our work is that when one community is targeted, Jonathan, when one community is targeted, we as a country are targeted,” he lied.

At Howard, Biden said: “But on the best days, enough of us have the guts and the hearts to st — to stand up for the best in us. To choose love over hate, unity over disunion, progress over retreat. To stand up against the poison of white supremacy, as I did in my Inaugural Address — to single it out as the most dangerous terrorist threat to our homeland is white supremacy. And I’m not saying this because I’m at a black HBCU. I say it wherever I go.”

“Black HBCU” is repetitive; HBCU stands for “Historically Black College or University.” And for the record, it was Donald Trump who, as president, signed bipartisan legislation that permanently provided historic funding for HCBUs. In fact, he restored the funding.

Brighteon.TV

Nevertheless, the Divisive Party — Democrats, the party that historically has been the most racist — continues to repeat the lie that white Americans, and particularly white conservatives, are a threat to our democracy, which demonizes them and essentially gives leftists permission to be violent toward them, in order to ‘protect’ the country.

Why? What’s the end game here?

Robert Spencer, the director of Jihad Watch and a Shillman Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, has an answer.

“This regime aims to criminalize political dissent, and that will require demonizing and stigmatizing fully half of the electorate. It is increasingly clear that when Biden claims that white supremacists are the biggest terror threat the nation faces, he means ordinary Americans who have never broken any law but who oppose his agenda,” he wrote at PJ Media this week.

“If everyone who opposes him is a white supremacist terrorist, then the nation has over a hundred million of them. Arrests and prosecutions on false pretenses will follow. That’s the threat that was contained in his words at Howard,” Spencer continued.

He also posted an example of a psyop the regime is using in order to further convince more Americans of the lie:

And ever so conveniently for Old Joe, no sooner had he uttered this false claim again at Howard on Saturday than a couple of hundred actual white supremacist terrorists miraculously materialized in Washington. All were young, physically fit men; not a single fat Nazi in the bunch. All wore the same blue shirt and khaki pants uniform, all with their faces covered, and once again, the feds showed no curiosity about who they are and made no attempt to determine where they came from or where they went.

This clumsy false-flag operation was widely exposed and ridiculed on Twitter, but conservative writer Chris Brunet pointed out: “What’s sad about this clip is that everyone here on my side of Twitter instantly knows this is a glowie/fed operation… pure theatre. But it is actually a really effective psyop, they keep doing it, because it works. Ask any normal person on the street, ask your mom, ask your sister, and they will be terrified of this clip and fall for it hook-line-and-sinker.”

His brilliance recognized at an early age, Khayam was sent to the most learned teacher in the Khorasan region of Persia, and developed into a mind capable of serving sultans and shahs alike.

In the year 1,074, he was commissioned to set up an observatory in Ifashan, where he lead a group of scientists in carrying out precise astronomical observations aimed at the revision of the Persian calendar, which he accomplished by tuning the lenght of the year so accurately that it would change only in the 6th decimel over the course of a lifetime.

He was also credited occasionally as a poet, and a philosopher to boot, stating succintly that:

We are the victims of an age when men of science are discredited, and only a few remain who are capable of engaging in scientific research. Our philosophers spend all their time in mixing true with false and are interested in nothing but outward show; such little learning as they have they extend on material ends. When they see a man sincere and unremitting in his search for the truth, one who will have nothing to do with falsehood and pretence, they mock and despise him.

28 years ago today, Braveheart debuted at the Seattle Film Festival. Featuring Mel Gibson as 13th century Scottish war hero Sir William Wallace, the film introduced one of Scotland’s seminal figures back into the western zeitgeist to critical acclaim, picking up 10 Academy Award nominations, and winning five including Best Picture, Director, Score, Cinematography, and Makeup.

The film is based on a 15th century poem by a man called “Blind Harry” entitled in Scots: The Actes and Deidis of the Illustre and Vallyeant Campioun Schir William Wallace. Focusing on the story of the First War for Scottish Independence against Edward the I, the film focuses heavily on the question of what a person is willing to risk to be a free man, and is packed with hugely quotable lines on the topic such as “Every man dies, but not every man truly lives,” and “They may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom.”

The film generated huge interest in Scotland and in Scottish history, not only around the world, but also in Scotland itself. In the following year, research on visitors to the Stirling area, scene of the first huge battle sequence in the film, indicated that 55% of the visitors had seen Braveheart. In the same year, a tourism report said that the “Braveheart effect” earned Scotland £7 million to £15 million in tourist revenue, and the report led to various national organizations encouraging international film productions to take place in Scotland. 22 years ago today, the computer-animated blockbuster Shrek premiered in the US.

In the story, a runaway donkey (voiced by Eddie Murphy) befriends an ogre named Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) and urges him to go on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz)—who is hiding a secret that will change his life forever.

For years, DreamWorks was developing this Scottish-set fairy tale and was rewarded at the box office—it grossed $484 million worldwide, with a production budget of just $60 million.

Shrek competed for the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival, making it the first animated film since Peter Pan (1953) to be chosen to do so. Although the content is intended for families, it features adult-oriented humor and themes, and was essentially a parody of fairy tales animated by Disney.

The movie won the first ever Academy Award for Best Animated Feature—but was also the first animated film nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. Its enchanting success helped establish DreamWorks Animation as a prime competitor to Pixar. WATCH the donkey cajole his way into the ogre’s life… (2001)

Autopsy of Fatal Delta Variant in a Fully Vaccinated Man

By Peter A. McCullough, MD, MPH

Autopsies have played a critical role in the history of medicine. The novel coronavirus pandemic is a period of time where autopsies have been particularly helpful in advancing our understanding of COVID-19 disease. So the question on the table is: if the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines raised antibodies against the ancestral wild type Wuhan strain of SARS-CoV-2, would they cover the Delta variant? The only real way to know is to find a case who is fully vaccinated with “protective” antibodies in the bloodstream who contracts COVID-19. Recently such a patient has been reported from Catania, Italy.

Esposito, et al, published an autopsy of an 83 year old man who was admitted to the hospital with heart failure and was later diagnosed with acute COVID-19 and succumbed 18 days later. There is no mention of treatment with lifesaving medications in the McCullough protocol such as ivermectin, corticosteroids, or anticoagulants. Sadly his lungs were ravaged with SARS-CoV-2 despite having adequate antibody titers for the Spike protein generated from the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine.
