(Chris Boland) The second half of the 18th Century – the Age of Enlightenment – saw two different revolutions. The American Revolution was predicated on individual liberty and the Judeo-Christian principles of virtue. The French Revolution was based on the ancient philosophers and the belief that, with enough pressure from the government, man could be perfected. America is witnessing a battle between those two revolutionary principles.
