Mercury Retrograde In Scorpio & Libra: Aligning Shared Values

Mercury begins another retrograde process on October 13th/14th  which will last until Nov 3rd/4th. This is when it appears to be moving backwards from our earth based vantage point due to the positioning of the Earth and Mercury in each of their orbits around the Sun. This one is occurring primarily in Scorpio and partially in Libra.

In the weeks (and especially days) leading up to it, it can already start to feel like a retrograde and some of its themes can get seeded. This happens because Mercury slows down (again from our vantage point) and travels in the part of sky it will be returning to after the retrograde begins. This is known as the ‘pre-shadow’ period which began on September 23rd/24th.

This retrograde is happening while Mars is also retrograde which began on September 9th/10th and will last until November 13th/14th. The retrogrades of these planets along with Venus are much more significant and noticeable then those of all the other planets which have further orbits. This is because they are less frequent and are classified as ‘personal’ or ‘inner’ planets. When retrograde they are in a sign (or two signs) for a significantly extended amount of time in comparison to the signs before or after.

Both of these retrogrades reflect a period of adjustments pertaining to their own energies and those of the signs they are in. However, they are both connected as they are happening simultaneously and Mercury is in Scorpio which is a sign that is traditionally ruled by Mars. Another interesting thing is that Mercury begins this retrograde during the peak, or halfway point, of Mars Retrograde when it opposes the Sun. To learn more about this Mars retrograde, I recommend reading my article about it here.

If you have read my previous Mercury Retrograde articles, the remainder of this section and the following one are nearly the same and you can skip to the third section if you don’t want to re-read all the general themes associated with these periods. The other parts are more specific to this edition of it.

Mercury retrograde is known for the problematic effects it often has on communication technology, transactions, motor vehicles, anything with moving parts, and commuting in general. Some people even get headaches near the beginning of it. We could experience some challenges, misunderstandings, and errors around our communications, numbers/details, and commerce, as well as changes, cancellations, or delays in our schedules.

Sometimes these issues could occur when we are excessively analytical without tuning into our internal guidance. Depending on how we flow with it and other variables, we may not always experience these surface level inconveniences, or they could just be minor irritants.

Mercury Retrograde can also be a good time to revisit or redo tasks, projects, ideas, or anything else that was initiated in the past. It can give us a different perspective or shift in thinking that can help us to approach these things in ways we wouldn’t have done before. This may also be a period of reconnecting with old friends, family, lovers, or others we haven’t seen in a while. When we reconnect with people during a retrograde, it can help to facilitate a shift in the relationship. In some cases, issues from the past can come up which may need to be hashed out.

The Deeper Purpose of Mercury Retrograde

Ultimately, Mercury Retrograde is a time for us to recalibrate and adjust specific areas of our lives as well as how we apply our minds towards these issues. It is a period in which we may receive important insights and see things in a new light. In most cases, it can be mildly transformational, but in some cases it can facilitate more major transformations depending on how it corresponds to your personal astrological chart.

During and following the retrograde, certain areas of our lives can go through changes or shifts, or we can experience a re-orientation of some sort which influences how we proceed over the coming months or in some cases, it can have a more long-term significance. In the three weeks afterwards, known as the ‘post-shadow’ period, we move forward with some sort of new awareness, adjustment, as well as new ideas and thoughts that have been seeded which will develop and become more defined as time progresses.

Certain things that have come up specifically in the two weeks leading up to the start of the retrograde could determine where this energy could play out. It is also possible that there could have been changes or developments at that time which may go through a sorting-out process or shift in dynamics during the actual retrograde and in the two weeks following. There could be unknown variables, either positive or negative, that were either unseen or hadn’t been conceived yet, which may become apparent over the coming month.

The sign(s) and element(s) in which Mercury retrograde travels in shows the energy we are re-orienting ourselves with. More importantly, if you are familiar with your natal astrology chart, then your house(s) or any planetary placements being affected will show more specifically which areas of life you will be experiencing its energy in. For the astrologically literate, it begins at 11’40 degrees of Scorpio and will retrograde back to 25’54 degrees of Libra before turning forward again.

Occurring Mostly In Scorpio & Partially In Libra,  The Final of a Series In Water Signs

Mercury Retrograde always happens in primarily one element for 1-2 years. This is the sixth and final one of a series occurring in water signs which began in early 2019. The water element is about emotion, feelings, sensitivity, compassion, intuition, and fluidity. This period is about re-aligning ourselves with these qualities and expressing them in new or revamped ways.

With this retrograde primarily in Scorpio, we may experience or process re-orientations, adjustments, developments, circumstances, or reflect on themes connected to shadows, fears, sexuality, mysteries,  obsessions, esoteric practices, use of power, alchemy, conspiracies, taboo subjects, death, suspicions, secrets, investigating, research, depth, regeneration, or the pursuit of mastery. Psychotherapy, psychology, astrology, tarot, and wicca, are examples of practices that may come up at this time.

This can be a great period to do any sort of ‘shadow work’ to help us on our path to achieving wholeness and greater self-awareness. Scorpio is about going deep which can be a key to facilitate emotional healing at this time. Sometimes we encounter crisis to help to push us towards some sort of transformation and this can be one of the ways this retrograde may be experienced.

Scorpio is also associated with debt, taxes, investments, credit, inheritance, loans, mortgages, and anything to do with shared or other people’s resources. In our relationships or other types of partnerships, themes around shared values or shared worth may also come up.

Scorpio can also be about purging and releasing. This can play out when it comes to our physical belongings or obligations. Emotionally or psychologically, it could have to do with overcoming negative patterns or attachments through deep understanding or discovering and healing the root cause. When it comes to our physical body, it could be about cleansing through dietary changes or modalities such as colon hydrotherapy, which can help with emotional healing as well.

Libra themes will also play a part in this retrograde, yet not as prominent as Scorpio. We can experience re-orientations around relationships, relating, diplomacy, and finding common ground. Libra is associated with balance, fairness, equality, peace, harmony, compromising, looking at different sides, and consideration of others. Themes connected to aesthetics, design, art, and creativity may also play out.

Mercury Retrograde Significant Dates

Below are some of the dates and information for some of the major astrological configurations during this retrograde.

*The dates below are based on the Americas. The further East you are located, you may need to consider it as the next day.

Oct 13th/14th Mercury Retrograde Begins at 1:05am Universal Time During Peak of Mars Retrograde. Jupiter is also sextile Neptune

The common Mercury retrograde themes and complications may come up strongly at this time and in recent days leading up to this. You may get some sort of indication of how it may be playing out for you over the next month based on how you feel or what transpires. It’s possible that certain things that happen at this time, which may seem insignificant, can somehow be connected to how this retrograde process will affect you.

This is the peak of Mars retrograde as it opposes the Sun. The potentials of frustrations, conflicts, and fights will be higher however we may also feel this within ourselves. Generally speaking, the Mars retrograde period is a time to help facilitate a shift in how we apply ourselves as well as how we express assertion, action, anger, aggression, or sexuality. These themes can come up more strongly during this period.

Jupiter is in a sextile with Neptune for much of October, but peaks in the days surrounding Mercury beginning its retrograde. This can help to soften the potential of intensity and conflicts that can happen at this time. It can be expansive, explorative, educational, philosophical, and ambitious in a creative, artistic, spiritual, mystical, idealistic, or compassionate way. With Jupiter being in the Earth sign of Capricorn, many people can experience this around ambitions, career, business, or practical matters. This energy can also be good for visual media efforts. Capricorn can help bring groundedness, practicality, and realism to this idealistic combination of these planets.

Oct 19th/20th Mercury Retrograde Opposite Uranus, Mars Square Jupiter, Venus Trine Jupiter

This is a period in which we may have to be more flexible as the potentials of changes and disruptions can be more strongly at this time. We may have to contend with surprises, inconsistencies, or impulsiveness which may be an inconvenience. The need to break free or separate from something may come up. Rebellious communication can also occur and it can be harder to focus. We should keep in mind that we may not be seeing things clearly or thoroughly so it’s good to be cautious if possible.

We may have to change the way we think about something or take a unique approach. However, for some people this can also be one of the more insightful periods of the retrograde. This energy has been present since before the retrograde began but is stronger and more noticeable at this time.

Mars retrograde is in a square with Jupiter which could reflect conflicts around beliefs, opinions, judgements, or perspectives. This can also contribute to scatteredness or excessiveness. Venus is in a trine with Jupiter (stronger earlier in the day) which can reflect optimism, expansiveness, growth, or fortunate circumstances around relations, love, financial matters, values, pleasures, or anything aesthetic related.

Oct 24th-26th Mercury Retrograde Conjunct the Sun (Inferior Conjunction)

This is the halfway point of Mercury retrograde, known as the ‘inferior conjunction,’ which is when it returns to the Sun. This can be a period of increased insights, and the themes or circumstances pertaining to how this retrograde is affecting you may come up more during this period.

Complications and frustrations can also be stronger at this time depending on your circumstances or how you are applying yourself. This may also be a period of ridding yourself of certain thoughts, ideas, perceptions, old interests, expectations, or other things that are not serving you while the potential for new ones may be seeded.

Oct 31st – Nov 7th Mercury Retrograde Square Saturn as it transitions from Retrograde to Direct

This can be a time of obstacles, delays, limitations, and restrictions as Mercury squares Saturn while it is slowing down and changing motion on November 3rd. This energy can be sobering and communications can have a pessimistic tone. Issues may come up that require realism, discipline, structure, orderliness, practicality, and caution.

Nov 3rd/4th Mercury transitions from Retrograde to Direct

Mercury will slowly begin to move forward from Nov 3rd/4th  onward. The areas of our lives that have been affected by this retrograde will start to become more clear and things will fall into place more easily as we progress into the coming days and weeks, but more so after November 7th and especially after November 13th. As Mercury gradually picks up speed, we can move forward in the areas of life that have been affected. However, usually the first few days after it ends can still feel like it is retrograde as complications may occur due to Mercury’s stationary position and in this case, its square with Saturn. It’s usually best to wait until at least 3 days afterwards before finalizing decisions, agreements, etc.

In the following weeks as Mercury is in its post retrograde shadow (until November 19th), Jupiter will be in a conjunction with Pluto that entire time but peaks as Mars ends its retrograde on November 13th/14th.  This is an energy that can be further revealing of Plutonian issues of shadows, abuse, hidden matters, and darkness. The first conjunction of Jupiter-Pluto happened in late March and early April, when there was a lot of conspiracy information coming out and also widespread fear which is associated with Pluto. It can also be transformative, empowering, and a time of tremendous growth depending on what we are doing.

As Mars slowly begins to move forward following November 13th/14th, we may feel like we are ready to proceed in different ways based on what has transpired in the first half of the month. We can begin to feel more assertive, bold, courageous, and direct. Things can move along with less obstacles and challenges in comparison to the previous months.

Full Moon In Aquarius: Erratic Progression

We are having a Full Moon in Aquarius on August 3rd/4th, it will appear the fullest on night of the 2nd in Western North America. This is the peak of the Lunar cycle that began with a New Moon in Cancer on July 20th/21st, as some of the themes mentioned in that article are still in effect.

The energies of a Full Moon are strongest in the days surrounding it yet its astrological configurations also play a part over the following two weeks. You may start to see its effects slowly build up after the New Moon prior to it.

Full Moons are a period in which we feel a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case being the Moon in Aquarius and the Sun in Leo. It can play out as either a conflict, an integration, or some sort of dynamic playing out between the energies of both signs. The Moon reflects the expression of feeling and emotion while the Sun reflects the expression of ego and conscious self.

We may feel this opposition happening individually within us and/or we can also experience it play out around us with some people (or circumstances) expressing the Aquarius side and others expressing the Leo side. In some cases, Full Moons can also reflect/trigger some sort of change or release.

Full Moon In Aquarius Opposite Sun In Leo

We have been in Leo season since July 22nd and will continue until August 22nd/23rd. This is the sign of self-expression, creativity, love, affection, children, courage, vitality, passion, leadership, generosity, and playfulness. Ruled by the Sun, it is also about shining in our power and being in alignment with what really lights us up and gets us excited.

The negative expressions of Leo can be egotistical, self-absorbed, authoritarian, dramatic, stubborn, jealous, and hot-tempered.  As it is associated with seeking praise and attention, it can be demanding of respect and be boisterous without considering or caring about how others respond to that.

The Full Moon highlights and brings the energies of the opposing sign of Aquarius into this Leo backdrop. This is the sign of friends, networks, social dynamics, the group, the team, humanity, and being in the best interest of the collective. Associated with Uranus, it can be unconventional, idealistic, innovative, progressive, original, inventive, technological, reforming, and even revolutionary.

Negatively, Aquarius can be overly detached, aloof, unemotional, and very invested in the mind at the expense of the heart. Traditionally ruled by Saturn, it can also be unyielding when it comes to the ideas and perspectives that it has already decided on.

Both Leo and Aquarius have some similarities. They are ‘Fixed’ signs and therefore can both be determined yet stubborn. They are also both associated with originality and authenticity. In Aquarius, this comes from its unconventional and innovative Uranian attributes while in Leo it comes from being inspired by its Solar heart centred self-expression.

Full Moon Square Uranus, Sextile Chiron

The Sun and Moon are in a T-square aspect with Uranus bringing its energy strongly into the equation. This planet is associated with Aquarius and viewed as a modern ruler of this sign, therefore it emphasizes some of the Aquarian themes mentioned above.

This can also reflect an energy that is disruptive, unpredictable, erratic, nonconforming, and rebellious. It can be hard to focus and more prone to sudden changes, accidents, loss, or separations. However, it can also reflect liberation, breakthroughs, excitement, and is a good time to shake things up and try new approaches to things.

This Full Moon is in a supportive sextile with Chiron which shares unorthodox and innovative qualities with Uranus. Chiron is also about bringing healing and wholeness to a situation and is associated with personal growth. It brings a potential for integration, learning, problem solving, finding solutions, purpose, and the elevation of consciousness.

Full Moon Sextile Mars, Squaring Jupiter & Pluto During Pre-Retrograde Shadow

The Sun-Moon opposition is in a harmonious aspect with Mars which can bring an active, asserting, energetic, sexual, or even a competitive or fighting energy. Mars is also in its own sign of Aries as it slows down to go retrograde on September 9th/10th. We will be experiencing a period of adjustments over the coming months in how we apply Mars in certain areas of our lives depending on our personal birth charts. Some of the things that are happening this month, leading up to it, will contribute to that process.

At the time of this Full Moon, Mars is also in a tight square with Jupiter which has been building up in the days prior. It also moves towards a square with Pluto over the following two weeks. We may overextend ourselves during this time or do things in an excessive, overconfident, compulsive or obsessive way.

Conflicts around beliefs, perspectives, hidden matters, or abuse can also arise. As we get closer to mid-August the energy becomes more intense with an increased potential of power struggles. This aspect can trigger passion and is good for strategic actions. All of these factors mentioned in this section are cranking up Mars energy overall. I will be writing a separate article on the upcoming retrograde as we get closer to it, join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Mercury & Venus In Hard Aspects With Saturn, Venus Conjunct North Node

Mercury is in a tight opposition with Saturn. This can reflect thoughts or conversations that are cautious, hesitant, pessimistic, or limiting. We may experience delays or obstacles around commuting or communications with others.  The need to be realistic around certain issues may also come up.

Like Mercury, Venus has social qualities and is also in a hard aspect with Saturn, this one being a frustrating quincunx. It can be hard to integrate or juggle Saturnian areas of responsibilities, commitments, boundaries, discipline, and structures with Venus areas of friendships, love, pleasures, sensuality, values, money, attraction, or other things that are aesthetic related. We may need to be extra adaptable or make adjustments.

Venus is also moving towards a conjunction with the Lunar North Node in Gemini in the days following this Full Moon. New relations, or developments around past relations, could have a fated quality that can bring growth and help us to move forward in a better or constructive way.  Our perception or approach to Venus ruled areas (mentioned in above paragraph) may evolve in a helpful manner.

Things To Consider

In what areas of your life should you try new approaches? What can you do to shake things up? What are some potential solutions for issues you are facing? How can you use your creativity in an innovative way? What are your relations with others pushing you towards? How can you be more of a team player? How can you better balance needs of self with the needs of the group?   What parts of your life are calling for originality and authenticity?

These are just some examples of themes that could come up during this period; however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out as well.  If you wish to do any sort of intentional release connected to what has come up at this Full Moon, it is best to do so anytime over the two weeks following when it is waning. The exact moment of this Full Moon is on August 3rd at 3:59pm Universal Time. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Lunar Eclipse In Capricorn: Clearing Old Blockages

We are having a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn on July 5th in most of the world, and on the night of July 4th in the Americas. Similarly to the Full Moon that occurred a month prior, it will be a penumbral eclipse which only has a subtle shade on the Moon. It will be visible (weather permitting) wherever it will be nighttime in part or all of its duration. This includes most of North America, most of Africa, Western Europe, parts of Central Europe, New Zealand, and all of South America.

This is the third of three eclipses occurring back to back, with this one following a more powerful annular Solar Eclipse in Cancer during the recent Solstice and a penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th. This one is also the last of a series of Eclipses occurring in the Cancer-Capricorn axis which began in 2018. This specific eclipse season marks the transition into the Gemini-Sagittarius polarity.

Eclipses reflect evolutionary changes in specific areas of our lives which can play out over the following 6 months and can begin up to 6 weeks prior. However, they are also part of a 1.5-2 year process in which the Lunar Nodes and most Eclipses are in the same signs. The changes that occur are connected to the sign they are in, the planets they are configured to, and how this all lines up with our individual astrological blueprint.

Lunar Eclipse In Capricorn

This eclipse is the final one of a process in which we have been experiencing a collective recalibration in how Cancer and Capricorn energies are expressed. This slightly began in summer of 2018  but kicked in more strongly later that year and in 2019.

This eclipse puts an emphasis on Capricorn themes as it is near the South Node which has recently entered Sagittarius. This indicates changes associated with Capricorn that can have a decreasing effect in how its energies are expressed, however, negative expressions of this sign can also come up more so to bring it to our attention.

The shifts that could occur, both challenges and developments, are more about changes or what we need to let go of, in relation to the energies of Capricorn to help facilitate a different balance with Cancer. Capricorn energies and aspects of life can be more constructive when they are expressed towards a Cancerian focal point. The areas of life in which it manifests also depends on how it is interacting with your natal astrology chart/blueprint.

Capricorn is the sign of ambition, career, duty, business, achievement, responsibility, discipline, mastery, and authority. It can be calculated, strategic, practical, orderly, conservative, realistic, authoritative, controlling, cautious, and worldly. It is a social climber and concerned with status.  It is also associated with governing and banking structures with this eclipse opposing the Sun of the United States, similarly to 1982 and 2001 in the months before 9/11.

Negatively, Capricorn energy can be serious, cynical, cold, unrelenting, and seek power over others. It can be overly focused on work and/or materialism while creating an imbalance with emotional, personal and domestic areas of life which is where the focal point has been considering previous North Node eclipses in Cancer.

Lunar Eclipse Near Jupiter-Pluto Conjunction

Now and in recent weeks, Jupiter and Pluto (also in Capricorn) are in their second exact conjunction of 2020 which is strong until July 10th, but gets triggered by the Sun from July 13th-16th. However, this energy is a part of the backdrop until late in the year with this eclipse highlighting it as well.

As mentioned in previous articles, this energy can be revealing of hidden matters or perhaps issues connected to abuse, control, manipulation, obsessions, shadows, or power dynamics. However, it can also be a time of acquiring deeper perspectives and can have transformational potential as well. Considering that this is a South Node eclipse, it can be a time of releasing or changing negative qualities of this energy.

Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is not too far from these planets in the same sign. The combination of the three  (especially Saturn-Pluto) in close proximity reflects the heavy energy of 2020. Saturn brings a level of seriousness and minimizes the expansiveness of Jupiter with restrictions and limitations, especially as Saturn rules the sign that they are both in.

Lunar Eclipse Square Mars-Chiron, Trine Uranus, and Sextile Neptune

Mars in Aries is approaching Chiron which will be exact around July 13th and 14th. This is also in a T-square with the Full Moon Eclipse (and Mercury Retrograde) carrying its themes for an extended period. This reflects similar energy in the lunations of previous months.

Mars’ conjunction with Chiron (configured to the eclipse) can reflect action and assertiveness that is healing, integrating, bridging, whole-istic, unorthodox, and addressing wounds. With it being in Aries, it could be connected to identity, individualism, or  individuality. It can also be about addressing negative expressions of Mars such as anger, aggression, or abuse.

The square to Mars can play out as conflicts, competitiveness, and intensity. We have already been seeing this on a collective level as the eclipse a month prior was also in a square with Mars. In the following 5-6 month window of this current eclipse season, Mars will be going retrograde which reinforces the energy of these Mars flavoured eclipses.

This eclipse is in a trine with Uranus in Taurus which can be innovative, inspiring, original, revolutionary, rebellious, and good for shaking things up. It is also in a sextile with Neptune, although this isn’t too strong, it can be supportive in a compassionate, creative, spiritual, or idealistic way.

Mercury Retrograde, Venus in Post-Retrograde Shadow

Mercury has been retrograde since mid-June and will be going direct a week following this eclipse. It is in Cancer reflecting a time of adjustments and re-orientations around home/domestic life, family, security, land/property, emotional comforts, caregiving, and emotional connections with others. As it begins to move forward in the days after July 12th and over the following weeks, we may see that we are proceeding in an adjusted way around Cancerian matters or developments that have come up since early June.

Venus ended its retrograde on June 25th and we are now in a time in which we are progressing differently around Venus ruled areas that have been playing out since the first half of April.  It can be connected to relationships, love, values, social dynamics, desires, worth, aesthetics, art, or perhaps financial matters.

Things To Consider

What have been some of the major themes for you over the past 1.5 years and what are they leading you towards? What area(s) of life do you need to let go of negative ways of expression? differently? What aspects of your ambitions do you need to release? Where should you be applying yourself in a healing way? Are there fragmented parts of your life that should be integrated to bring more harmony into your life? How can you achieve this?

These are just some examples of what can be playing out for you but not limited to these either. Keep in mind that the themes of this specific eclipse will play out until the Fall. It is best to try to tune into this energy as it happens and pay attention to your feelings to help you in decisions you need to make in the future.

The two weeks following this eclipse can be a good time to initiate any sort of releasing process if you feel necessary. The eclipse begins at 3:07am Universal Time on July 5th with it peaking at 4:30am and finishing at 5:52am. The Moon begins to wane after 4:44am GMT. You can click here to see when the peak will be in your time zone.

Full Moon In Pisces: Tapping Into Our Magic

We are having a Full Moon in Pisces on August 26th 2018. This is the peak of this Lunar Cycle which was initiated by a Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 11th. The energies of a Full Moon may start to become noticeable in the days leading up to it and in the days following, however, it is strongest in the 12 hours before and after. It can also reflect how things play out over following two weeks.

This Full Moon is the first lunation since June 28th that is not an eclipse, however, the energies of the previous eclipses are still in the backdrop of what it is happening at this time and in the coming months as well. Mercury also ended its retrograde one week prior to this, with Mars ending its retrograde the day after this Full Moon, and Saturn getting close to ending one as well.

Considering all of this, now and in the coming weeks is a period in which things can begin move forward after a process of re-orientation and potential changes. For everybody, it can be in different areas of your life depending on how these energies correspond with your natal birth chart. You can read more about the general themes of these eclipses and retrogrades here.

Full Moon In Pisces Opposite Sun In Virgo

At every Full Moon we experience a push-pull or integration between the energies of two opposing signs, in this case it is the Sun in Virgo opposing the Moon in Pisces. We recently began Virgo season on August 23rd, the sign of physical health, duties, efficiency, purity, perfectionism, and service. It is a sign that is detailed, discerning, practical, realistic, productive, but can also be critical, nit-picky, and cynical.

The opposing sign of Pisces where the Full Moon is located is quite different. Pisces is more of a flowy and easygoing energy associated with compassion, creativity, spirituality, and oneness. It is dreamy, imaginative, idealistic, sensitive, and empathic. Pisces can also be elusive, flaky, deceptive, intoxicating, escapist, and delusional.

Virgo, as a Mercury ruled Earth sign, it has strong orientation around the physical and mundane world. Pisces being a Jupiter and Neptune ruled water sign, it is more invested in the spiritual and emotional aspects of life. Both signs are adaptable and are also associated with health in their own ways.

Full Moon Aligned With Fomalhaut and In A Kite Pattern With Earth Signs

This Full Moon is aligned with Fomalhaut, a prominent star which was traditionally one of the four royal stars. Fomalhaut shares many of the same traits as Pisces and somewhat amplifies them. It highlights the magical, artistic, and otherworldly qualities of Pisces. It also can amplify escapism tendencies and lack of being grounded in the real world.

This Full Moon is connected to a Grand Trine in Earth signs, forming what is called a ‘kite pattern’. Even though this Full Moon has many of the Piscean-Fomalhaut energies mentioned, there is still a lot of energy to keep things grounded, practical and realistic, especially considering that the Sun is in Virgo challenging the Moon, both in aspect with Saturn in Capricorn. This is a great energy for making things happen in the real world which also channels the creative, spiritual, imaginative, compassionate, and magical qualities of Pisces/Fomalhaut.

There can be some new developments or potential excitement connected to our careers, duties, and matters connected to the physical/material world. This can be great for original and innovative approaches to these areas, or even regarding our routines, tasks, and structures. In some cases, this could have something to with health and lifestyle.

Some people can be building something in a new way which can have lasting results. This can also be good for integrating more technological, scientific, metaphysical, or even astrological approaches towards these things.?

Mercury In Leo Square Jupiter In Scorpio

The rulers of both Pisces and Virgo, Jupiter and Mercury, are in a square aspect during this Full Moon. It will be strongest from August 27th-28th. This interplay between these two planets began in the second week of July and was also part of Mercury’s retrograde and peaked at the last Solar Eclipse. Due to these planets being the rulers of this Full Moon, it can add more tension to the opposition of Virgo-Pisces.

Around this time we can be more easily scattered. Their can be a clash between facts and ideals, as well as with details and broadmindedness. However, this can also be a great energy for learning and expanding the mind.

This is the post-retrograde and final square which may bring about some sort of a conclusion process to how this energy has been playing out throughout this summer. This may have to do with an adjustment or developments connected to your beliefs, ideals, faith, and understandings. Perhaps it can be about having realizations of our blind spots or deeper truths.

With Mercury in Leo, there can be some sort of expansive energy around our self-expression or in the way we think. Maybe this can be connected to plans or developments around education, travel, marketing, teaching, and publishing. With Jupiter being in Scorpio, it could also have themes around with financial matters, deeper understandings, transformation, or sexuality.

Venus Square Pluto, Mercury Sextile Venus

Venus in Libra is in a square with Pluto in Capricorn which is strongest the day of the Full Moon and the days surrounding it. This can playout as power struggles, possessiveness, intensity, manipulation, or changes amongst friendships, in social situations, or amongst lovers. Fears around these areas can come up or hidden matters may surface.

For some people, this could manifest as challenges around financial matters, however, it can even play out as financial gain. Even with any of the potential challenges mentioned above, this can be a passionate energy romantically or even socially. It can also be good for some sort of aesthetic transformation.

Venus is also in a sextile with Mercury in Leo which will peak from September 2nd-4th after the Pluto energy (mentioned above) fades. Although this isn’t a strong aspect, it still favours social interactions and communications which can be more graceful, diplomatic, and loving. This is great for developing or working on creative idea and it even manifest as financial benefits for some.

Mars About To End Retrograde Followed By Saturn

At the time of this Full Moon, Mars is in its final day of being retrograde which began on June 26th and peaked in late July and early August around the time of the Total Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius. This has been a time of re-orientation and even a release of how we apply Mars in our lives. It is associated with assertion, drive, aggression, physical action, sexuality, motivations, and desires.

In has been mostly in Aquarius while aligned with the South Node and square Uranus. Its themes may have been oriented around the collective, groups, colleagues, friends, social media, as well as humanitarian and social issues. It may even be connected to how we assert ourselves with our intellect or how we apply our innovative selves.

Mars finishes its retrograde at the end of Capricorn which can bring themes connected to our goals, ambitions, careers, responsibilities, and perhaps apply ourselves with better structure, resourcefulness, and in a more solid way. Also, Saturn (the ruler of Capricorn) is getting close to ending its retrograde there on September 6th. All of this combined is an indicator of moving forward in new ways in regards to the Capricorn themes mentioned.

Things To Consider During This Period

What developments have come up for you over the last few months and what are the solutions in how you need to proceed? How can you achieve real and tangible results using your creative expression or spiritual awareness? How can you integrate innovative, technological, or unconventional approaches towards career, duties, health, or lifestyle? Is there anything coming up that is asking you to balance the spiritual with the physical? What do you need to be learning at this time? How can you make your dreams a reality?

These are just some examples of what may be coming up for you, however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out as well.  If you wish to do any sort of intentional release connected to what has come up at this Full Moon, it is best to do so anytime over the two weeks following, when it is waning. The exact moment of this Full Moon is on August 26th at 11:56 am Universal Time. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Solar Eclipse In Leo: Evolving Our Authentic Self-Expression

We are having a partial Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 11th, 2018 which will be the third and final eclipse of this Summer. This is a supercharged New Moon which influences a longer-term period. It will be visible from Russia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Northeastern Quebec, Greenland, Iceland, and Northeastern Asia.

Prior to this, we have had a Solar Eclipse in Cancer on July 12th/13th and a Total Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius on July 27th/28th happening in the same eclipse season. Solar Eclipses influence the following 6 months while Lunar Eclipses influence the following 1-3 months. However, they are part of a process that began in May 2017 when the Lunar Nodes entered the Leo-Aquarius axis which will last until this November. (Read more about the previous eclipses here).

The Eclipses and the Nodes in these signs are part of an evolutionary process in how we work with these energies. What results from this period will have longer-term effects even beyond this 18 month period.

The North Node has been in Leo, and this pushes us towards new directions in how we express Leo energies, while the South Node is in Aquarius which is more about what we need to let go of in how we express the areas represented by that sign. However, we can experience both beginnings and endings with both.

Solar Eclipse Conjunct Mercury Retrograde In Leo

Similarly to last summer, we have both a Solar Eclipse and Mercury Retrograde occurring in the same sign of Leo. This really emphasizes the re-working and adjustments of how we apply its energy in our lives. It is about how we want to shine in the world, our creative energy, and how we self-express from the heart.

Leo is associated with affection, children, courage, leadership, generosity, and playfulness. It is also about our vitality, passion, and being in alignment with what really lights us up and gets us excited. It is about how we seek praise and attention. The best way to approach that is to be our authentic and heart centred version of ourselves; whether it be in our creations, how we perform, or how we express other Leo traits previously mentioned.

The negative expressions of Leo can be egotistical, authoritarian, dramatic, stubborn, jealous, and hot-tempered.  It can demand respect without earning it and be too loud and boisterous without considering or caring about how others respond to that. However, the more we are working with Leo energy positively, we will attract a more positive and supporting response from those on the receiving end.

This process is about really tuning in to how we shine and express ourselves at our best. It is also about considering how we want to be seen in the world, yet, without being overly occupied with ideas of how we can get the most attention and praise. It can be good to take actions towards how we want to stand out, but it’s important to balance that out with our true authentic higher expression of who we already are.

On August 8th and 9th, Mercury retrograde made its exact conjunction with the Sun which is an important part of the retrograde process known as the ‘inferior conjunction’. Certain things that occurred during this period can help you have a realization in how you need to apply yourself over the coming months.

Reflect on your thoughts, conversations, insights, circumstances, and any other messages or realizations you received from the Universe at that time. Perhaps there was something that triggered you or got your attention? Whatever it was, it is partly connected to whatever shifts that this eclipse is triggering in your life.

Solar Eclipse and Mercury Retrograde Square Jupiter

Both the Eclipse and Mercury retrograde are in a square with Jupiter which ended its retrograde in Scorpio a month prior. Some of the Leo themes mentioned above, and what occurred on August 8th/9th, could somehow be connected to Jupiter ruled areas. This may have to do with an adjustment or developments connected to your beliefs, ideals, faith, and understandings. Perhaps it can be about having realizations of our blind spots or deeper truths.

There can be some sort of expansive energy around our self-expression or in the way we think. Maybe this can be connected to plans or developments around education, travel, marketing, teaching, and publishing. In some cases, it could have something to do with financial matters or sexuality. Whatever it is, it may be connected to something that was initiated in March, July, or sometime in between them.

This energy can also scatter our minds and communications. Mercury is also in a quincunx with Neptune which triggers confusion, distractions, and miscommunications. Our thoughts and conversations might also be at odds with our ideals, dreams, fantasies, illusions, or an expression of escapism.

Jupiter is making its final trine with Neptune in Pisces which began late November/December and was also strong in mid-late May. This can be great for any growth and expansiveness around spirituality, creativity, as well as selfless and compassionate pursuits. This can also be good for anything that involves visual arts, video, and photography.

Some people could have mystical experiences and perhaps some learning can occur through our dreams or connections to spiritual realms. This can be a time of heightened sensitivity. Considering that Mercury is in the process of changing motion when this energy is strongest (from August 14th – 23rd), it’s likely that the potential manifestations of this period will play a role in any clarity that we receive in how we need to move to proceed as Mercury begins moving forward after August 19th.

Mars Retrograde Going In Capricorn

As discussed in previous articles, Mars has been retrograde since late June and will last until August 27th, just after the next Full Moon. Most of it has been occurring in Aquarius, however, less than 2 days after this eclipse it re-enters Capricorn. Over these coming weeks, there could also be adjustments and developments in how we apply ourselves within the Capricorn realm.

It could be connected to our careers, responsibilities, goals, and overall ambitions. Perhaps revisiting how we can assert ourselves in a more orderly, practical, productive, conservative, masterful, structured, and disciplined way. Aquarius is about our social connections, while Capricorn is about resourcefulness, therefore this retrograde can be about how we utilize our social network and teamwork in pursuing our shared goals.

Making Intentions And Things To Consider

What is your heart calling on you to create? How can you express yourself as authentically as possible? What are you passionate about and how can you share that with the world? What has come up for you in the days leading up to this eclipse? What adjustments do you need to make in order to help you fulfill your heart’s desires?

What can you do to bring more joy into your life? How can you be a better leader and/or lover? What are the practical considerations at this time to help you fulfill your passions? What adjustments need to be made with your social network to assist you in fulfilling your goals?

These are just some examples of what to consider during this time. However, keep in mind that the energies of this eclipse will also be a part of the backdrop over the coming months. If you wish to make any intentions, it is generally best to do so within the first 24 hours following the New Moon. However, with this one specifically, it is most ideal to wait 18 hours after the exact moment of it when it occurs. The exact time of this New Moon will be at 9:58am Universal Time on August 11th. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Total Lunar Eclipse In Aquarius: Major Changes & Release

We are having a Total Lunar Eclipse on July 27th, 2018 which is also referred to as a ‘Blood Moon’. This specific eclipse will be the longest Lunar Eclipse we will have until 2123, lasting almost 4 hours. This is because it is a total eclipse at a time of year when the Earth reaches its furthest point from the Sun in its orbit while the Moon will be at its furthest point from the Earth. Therefore it casts a larger shadow over the Moon.

This eclipse will be visible from South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. In North America, a small part of it will be visible in Eastern Newfoundland, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and other islands east of there.

Eclipses happen every 6 months and reflect changes and shifts that influence the following 3-6 months. This is the 2nd of a series of three happening back to back, with the previous and following ones being partial Solar Eclipses. However, this one is the most significant of the three because it is closest to the Lunar Nodes which is where the path of the Sun and Moon intersect. When this occurs, it is then a ‘Total’ or ‘Annular’ eclipse,  similarly to the ‘Great American’ Solar Eclipse that occurred in August 2017.

The previous Solar Eclipse occurred on July 12th/13th in Cancer. I wrote a separate article about it which you can read here.

Mercury also began its retrograde less than 2 days prior. This time occurring in Leo where the next Solar Eclipse will also occur. This combined with the eclipses and Mars also currently retrograde really emphasizes the changes and re-orientations occurring this summer. You can read more about this Mercury retrograde here.

Total Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius On The South Node

We have been experiencing eclipses in the Leo/Aquarius axis since last year. The eclipses in Leo are close to the North Node and the ones in Aquarius are close to the South Node. The changes reflected by these eclipses lean more towards new beginnings with how we incorporate Leo energy and endings around Aquarius energy. However, endings, beginnings, and different types of changes connected to both polarities can still occur.

This specific one being a Total Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) really close to the South Node emphasizes more endings and release, but again, it is part of a process that began over a year ago. Aquarius is connected to how we approach friendships, acquaintances, colleagues, groups, and the collective. It is also about the intellect, humanitarian efforts, and social constructs. It can be aloof, overly objective, too scientific, dispassionate, impersonal, and detached.

This Eclipse Is Aligned with Mars Retrograde, Square Uranus, Sextile Chiron

Mars has been retrograde also in Aquarius since June 26th which will last until August 27th when it is in late Capricorn. This Full Moon and Eclipse will be occurring at the peak of this Mars retrograde and will also be aligned with it. During the days around the Eclipse, Mars is at its brightest point which occurs every two years, and if the Moon wasn’t full it would appear even brighter. This is the halfway point or peak of its retrograde and it is very rare to have a peak Mars next to a Full Moon, especially an eclipse. It will be a great sight to see.

Astrologically, however, this can be intense for some people. This eclipse amplifies and really highlights the Mars retrograde energy (read more about it here). The themes of release will be very much connected to certain aspects of how we apply Mars. It could affect the way apply action, assert ourselves, anger, aggression, desires, sexuality, competitiveness, force, violence, courage, survival instincts, and how we use physical energy. With Mars travelling over the South Node, it is possible that people or issues from the past may come up which ultimately could help with this process.

This eclipse and Mars will also be in a square with Uranus. This can make us overly reactive, impulsive, rebellious, feisty, and trigger separative behaviour. Considering that Mercury is also retrograde, we need to be cautious about doing something that we regret, but at the same time, it is still important to do what feels right at the moment.

This can be a period of doing things without careful consideration, but in many cases, some of what might occur could have been brewing up for a while, and if so, the timing may be right to make a bold move. This energy is also particularly strong August 1st and 2nd but builds up as we get closer to those dates.

Uranus is also slowing down to go retrograde on August 7th. The fact that it is changing motion really amplifies many of the themes mentioned. We may be considering things to do with our individuality, freedom, innovation, technological or metaphysical pursuits, as well as separation from something.

This eclipse is also in a sextile with Chiron in Mars-ruled Aries. This could potentially bring themes connected to old wounds, negative patterns, and blockages. The release process of this eclipse could coincide with some sort of healing and/or holistic awareness/application towards any issues we are dealing with.

Venus Trine Pluto and Saturn Trine Uranus

Venus in Virgo is in a tight trine with Pluto in Capricorn. This can help to facilitate important changes or some sort of deepening around friendships, lovers, or values. For some people, this can have a positive effect on finances or value connected to the workplace or career. However, considering the energies of this eclipse, it can also help to facilitate a purging process regarding our relations or negative behaviours connected to money or values.

Saturn in Capricorn gets close to an exact trine with Uranus as it transitions to retrograde. This is something that began last year in Fire signs, now occurring in Earth signs. This is a great energy for new, innovative, and authentic approaches towards career matters, responsibilities, structure, and building something in a new way. This can also be good for integrating more technology, science, metaphysics, or astrological approaches towards these things.

To Consider During This Period

What do you need to release yourself from? Is there an area of your life calling for some sort of separation or liberation? What changes do you need to make regarding your friends, groups, and your overall social network? What do you need to change about the way you assert yourself or apply your physical body? What are you being shown through the developments connected to issues or relationships from the past?

Do you have issues with anger and aggression that you need to change? Do you feel like you need to shift something around the way you pursue your desires? Is there something about the way you approach sexuality or relationships that need to shift? How can you express yourself in a more authentic way?

These are just some examples of what could be coming up, but not limited to them either. If you decide to use this energy to intentionally release something from your life, it is best to start that after the Moon starts to wane after the peak of the Full Moon, or even over the following two weeks.

The exact moment of the peak will be at 8:22 pm Universal Time on July 27th. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone. If the eclipse is visible in your location, remember that it begins almost two hours before the peak and two hours following, and also depends on what time the Moon rises and sets in your location.

Mercury Retrograde In Leo: Reorientation Of Self-Expression & Aspirations

Mercury began the latest edition of its retrograde process on July 25th/26th, which will last until August 18th/19th. In the weeks and especially days leading up to it, known as the ‘pre-shadow period’, we start to notice its influence as Mercury slows down and comes to a stop before moving the other way. This specific retrograde is happening during Mars Retrograde and during eclipse season with a very potent Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius occurring less than 2 days after this retrograde begins. You can find my content about those here.

If you have read my previous Mercury retrograde articles, the first two sections of this article are nearly the same and you can skip to the third section if you don’t want to re-read all the general themes associated with these periods. The other sections are more specific to this edition of it.

We may also feel more challenged when we are doing excessive analytical work without using our internal guidance.

Although there is a higher probability of experiencing more of these problems during this time, they won’t necessarily apply to every situation. Some people may not notice these energies as much, depending on what types of things they are doing and how the astrology is playing out unique to the person’s astrological blueprint.

Mercury Retrograde can also be a good time to revisit or redo tasks, projects, ideas, or anything else that was initiated in the past. It can give us a different perspective or shift in thinking that can help us to approach these things in ways we wouldn’t have done so before. This may also be a period of reconnecting with old friends, family, sometimes lovers, or others you haven’t seen in a while.

The Deeper Purpose of Mercury Retrograde

Ultimately, Mercury Retrograde is a time for us to recalibrate our minds and certain areas of our lives. It is a period in which we may receive important insights and see things in a new light. In most cases it can be mildly transformational, but in some cases it can facilitate more major transformations depending on how it corresponds to your personal astrological chart.

During and following the retrograde, certain areas of our lives can go through changes or shifts, or we can experience a reorientation of some sort. In the 2 weeks afterwards, known as the ‘post-shadow’ period, we move forward with some sort of new awareness and adjustment.

The things that you have been doing or circumstances in the two to three weeks leading up to this period could determine how and where this energy plays out. It is also possible that there could have been changes put in place at that time which may go through a sorting out process during this time. Perhaps in that period there could have been unknown variables, both positive and negative, that were either unseen or hadn’t been conceived yet, which may become apparent over the coming weeks.

The sign(s) and element(s) in which Mercury retrograde travels shows the energy we are re-orienting ourselves with. Also, to go with that, if you are more familiar with your natal astrology chart, your house(s) or any planetary placements being affected will show more specifically what areas of life you will be experiencing its energy in. For the astrologically literate, it began at 23 degrees of Leo and will retrograde all the way to 11 degrees of the same sign, before turning forward again.

This One Is Occurring In Leo, Part of A Series In Fire Signs

Mercury retrograde always occurs in one element for more than a year. It is currently occurring in the Fire element which is about passion, creativity, instinct, inspiration, assertiveness, courage, confidence, and spirit.

This Fire period is about re-aligning ourselves with these themes and expressing them in new or revamped ways. This ‘Fire process’ began in the spring of 2017 as it was transitioning out of Earth signs, with the first Mercury Retrograde to be completely in Fire occurring last December.

This one is more specific to a reorientation around Leo themes, which is about heart centred self-expression, creativity, radiating love, and influence. It is the performer, the leader, the creator, and seeks to find joy in expressing itself in those ways. It is about vitality and also rules children, fun, and romance. It can be courageous and generous.

Expressed negatively, Leo energy can also be egotistical, dramatic, and demanding of attention or respect. This sign at its highest expression is about shining in our own authentic way and inspiring others. The North Node, the next Solar Eclipse (and previous eclipses) are also in Leo which emphasizes a push towards the themes of this sign.

Mercury Retrograde Square Jupiter In Scorpio

One of the most prominent aspects of this specific Mercury retrograde is its square with Jupiter in Scorpio. Jupiter recently began moving forward on July 10th after being retrograde since March 8th. Since then, we may have begun to move forward with Jupiter themes which could include education, travel, exploration, beliefs, or anything to do with marketing, publishing.

With Mercury retrograde in a square to Jupiter, some of the Leo related adjustments could be connected to any of these things. For example, we could be sorting out some of this stuff or making plans, adjustments. Perhaps following your hearts desires around travel, education to help you be a better leader in your field, or using your creative expression for marketing or publishing. These are just some examples. We need to be cautious that this aspect can also make us scattered and more easily overlook details. However, it can also be a time of tremendous learning which can aid in the insightful process of Mercury retrograde.

Mercury Retrograde Timeline

*Below, are some of the dates and information for some of the major astrological configurations during this retrograde. However, I also regularly post about other astro energies happening on my social media via Instagram and Facebook, you can follow those platforms for more forecast content.

Earlier dates are for those in Western part of the world and later dates for those in the East.

July 25th/26thMercury begins its retrograde at 5:03 am on July 26th Universal Time. The days surrounding this period are a time in which complications may be amplified, but you may also start to get a better sense of the themes for you which may have been building up since July 7th.

July 27th/28th Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius conjunct Mars and Square Uranus. This is a bit of an intense eclipse which could come with surprises, anger, impulsive or rebellious actions, or perhaps things breaking apart. At best it can be liberating. However, not everyone will notice its energies right away, and parts of it it could even manifest in the weeks/months following. Some of the stuff connected to this eclipse could be about letting go of what is not serving us to help us step more into the Leo energies that we need to embody more as pointed out by Mercury, the North Node, and next Solar Eclipse.

August 1st/2ndMars retrograde square Uranus. We may notice the Lunar eclipse energies mentioned above very strongly at this time.

August 4th/5th Mercury quincunx Pluto. Circumstances around power, control, desires, deep issues, secrets, or shadow qualities of ourselves or others may create challenges at this time.

August 7th/8th Uranus goes retrograde. The weeks surrounding when Uranus goes retrograde is when we notice its energies the most, and especially in this case with the Lunar Eclipse and Mars triggering it. Issues and developments surrounding originality, freedom, innovation, technology,  along with some of the stuff mentioned above are strong at this time. Instability can also be a theme for some. It is in Taurus so we may notice some these energies or perhaps other shifts around possessions, money, physical things, food, and values.

August 8th/9th Mercury conjunct the Sun, with Moon in Cancer forming a grand trine with Jupiter and Neptune. This is that halfway point of Mercury retrograde and can be a period of increased insights yet complications can also be stronger at this time depending on how you are applying yourself. Ideas and thoughts that are seeded now may develop over the coming months. This can be a time of heightened intuition, compassion, increased passion, emotional connection, spiritual growth, and expansive developments.

August 9th/10thMercury quincunx Neptune. Confusion, delusion, deception, flakiness, and in some cases tiredness or lack of energy may create challenges at this time.

August 10th-12thSolar Eclipse in Leo conjunct Mercury, both Square Jupiter. The energies of this eclipse accentuates the Leo themes and ‘Mercury square Jupiter’ themes mentioned earlier in this article. The effects of Solar Eclipses influence the following 6 months, however, we have been experiencing Leo eclipses since last year and has been almost a process lasts in a total of more than 1.5 years. I will be putting out more content about it when we get closer to it. You can join my mailing list here to be notified when I release new work.

August 18th-20thMercury sextile Venus, Jupiter Trine Neptune, and Mercury Goes Direct. Mercury ends its retrograde with a few pleasant aspects happening simultaneously.  Firstly, Mercury is in a sextile with Venus in Libra which excellent for developments or enjoyable occurrences around relationships, love, social lives, money, creative expression, or any aesthetic applications. Jupiter is in a sextile with Neptune which has been building up in the week leading up to this and is still present in the week following. This may accentuate the creative energies of Leo, and also has similar themes previously mentioned under ‘August 8th/9th’. With Mercury beginning to move forward now and Mars also ending its retrograde 8 days later, things will begin to move more smoothly and with greater clarity over the coming weeks.

Solar Eclipse In Cancer: Addressing Our Shadows

We are having a partial Solar Eclipse in Cancer on July 12th/13th. It is a supercharged New Moon that not only influences this month, but also the following 6 months. The only place on land that it will be visible is the Southeastern tip of Australia, however, it will still affect everyone in some way.

This one marks the beginning of eclipse season which occurs every 6 months when the New Moon and Full Moon occur near the Lunar Nodes. Most of the time there are two eclipses, however, in this case there will be three; with this one followed by a Total Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius on July 27th and a Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 11th.

Eclipses reflect changes and shifts which affect the 6 months following and could also influence up to 6 weeks prior. You may not actually notice the effects around the time it occurs, but perhaps could feel it, and then see it actually play out in the weeks or months following. (Join my mailing list here to get my articles on the upcoming eclipses and other content).

Mars is currently retrograde (since June 26th) while Mercury is also slowing down to go retrograde on July 25th/26th. This reflects adjustments that are occurring this summer combined with the shifts of the eclipses. Mars retrograde is a period in which issues and developments around action, sex, aggression, anger, and desires could come up. Ultimately this is a period which facilitates a re-orientation of how we apply these energies of Mars. I wrote a full article about it which you can read here.

Solar Eclipse In Cancer Opposite Pluto In Capricorn

This is first eclipse in the Cancer-Capricorn axis of a series which will continue next year more strongly as we are also still finishing off eclipses in the Leo-Aquarius axis which began last year. This is the beginning of a process of shifts in how we work with the energy of this sign which also depends on where it is located in your natal astrology chart.

Cancer is the sign of nurturing, sensitivity, emotional bonding, family, and the domestic life. It is also associated with security, comforts, nostalgia, while also instinctual, protective and subjective. It can also be vulnerable, clingy, overly emotional and attached to the past.

This Eclipse is in a tight opposition with Pluto in Capricorn, which almost gives it the effect of a Full Moon although it is a New Moon. At worst, it can bring challenges connected to fears, our shadow selves, power struggles, control, hidden matters, and can stimulate the manipulative potentials of both Cancer and Capricorn.

Pluto has some similar properties to Mars as well, and considering that it is currently retrograde, we can see overlapping themes connected to intensity, anger, sexuality, and desire play out. Both of these planets highlighted now can also make people more edgy. With Pluto being in Capricorn and Mars retrograding back to Capricorn later, it’s also possible that some of the challenges and struggles that come up now could be connected to issues around structure, career, business, resources, or responsibilities.

Pluto also rules death and rebirth while Jupiter just ended its retrograde in Scorpio which is a Plutonian sign. At best this combined energy can help to facilitate growth associated with overcoming fears. It can also help to bring our shadow aspects into greater awareness and perhaps have some sort of transformational, empowering, or purging qualities towards them. When it comes to healing, both Pluto and Scorpio are about going deep.

Jupiter In Scorpio Is Now Direct

Some of the themes that came up in our lives in March when Jupiter began its retrograde may start to be resolved or move forward now and in the coming weeks. Or perhaps we may begin to take steps and move forward with anything Jupiter related. This could have anything to do with plans around travel, education, and experiential pursuits. In some cases, spirituality, beliefs, and philosophies can also be affected. Business wise, it could have to do with marketing and publishing.?

We could potentially experience a positive shift around the negative expressions of this planet which include overindulging, overdoing, judgement, and overlooking blind spots. Also, being in Scorpio, some of the Jupiter energies mentioned could be connected to money, investments, shared resources, deep understandings, sexuality, power, or transformation. We may also begin to progress with new developments or growth in these areas.?

However, considering that this summer we have three eclipses, Mars retrograde, and Mercury retrograde in a square with Jupiter, we can expect more changes, challenges, and shifts taking place that could also impact anything coming up now that is Jupiter related.

Earth Grand Trine With Venus, Saturn, and Uranus

Although this summer has some potentially challenging and irritating astrological energies, this specific eclipse has a really nice Grand Trine in Earth signs. Venus recently entered Virgo days before this eclipse. In this sign it seeks quality in Venus ruled areas of love, beauty, pleasures, friendships, and social dynamics. It can also be picky and critical around these things.

Venus’ grand trine to Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus can have long term effects as Saturn is a builder and Uranus is forward moving. This can be a great energy for beneficial developments around social or love relationships, financial matters, or anything to do with aesthetics.

Uranus and Saturn are slower moving planets in comparison to Venus and will be in a tight trine until mid-September which in general is good for taking new, innovative, or unconventional approaches in our structures, business, careers, and responsibilities. With Venus in the mix now, it could bring creativity, friends, lovers, and social connections into that equation in some way.

Making Intentions And Things To Consider

Is there anything in your life calling for some sort of purging or transformation at this time? Do you have any fears coming up, and if so, how can you address them? Are there developments in your life pushing you to be more caring, nurturing, or vulnerable in a certain area?

What relationships in your life are worthy of building or exploring new territory with? What new developments or thoughts, have come up for you in connection to travel, education, experience, beliefs, or even marketing? If this applies, what steps do you need to make in the next 1-2 months in order to fulfil any of this?

These are just some examples of what to consider during this time. However, keep in mind that the energies of this eclipse will be a part of the backdrop over the coming months and there are still unforeseen developments that will occur this summer that will shift part of your direction, perspective, and how you assert yourself. The exact time of this New Moon will be at July 13th 2:48 am Universal Time, which is July 12th in the Americas. Click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Full Moon In Capricorn: Realistic Considerations

We are having a Full Moon in Capricorn on June 27th/28th, depending on where you are located in the world. This marks the peak of the Lunar Cycle that began on June 13th with the New Moon in Gemini. The energies of a Full Moon may start to become noticeable in the days leading up to it and in the days following, however, it is strongest in the 12 hours before and after. Full Moons also influence how things play out over following two weeks.

Less than two days before this Full Moon, Mars began its retrograde and is still nearly stopped in the sky as it begins to slowly move backward. These retrogrades only occur every two years and last two months, with this one ending on August 27th.  This is a time in which Mars energy can get amplified in a way and we ultimately reorient ourselves in how we apply it in our lives. It rules assertion, action, willpower, desires, sex, anger, and aggression. I wrote a separate article about it which you can read here.

We are also on the verge of Eclipse season, with the next New Moon in two weeks being a Solar Eclipse in Cancer, followed by a Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius, and another Solar Eclipse happening in Leo. Mercury will also be going retrograde in a month from now. This will be a very eventful summer in which we will experience changes, new experiences, surprises, endings, frustrations, and complications. Ultimately this period will help to facilitate growth and needed adjustments in our lives.

I will be releasing more content about these Eclipses and Mercury Retrograde as we get closer to those dates. You can join my mailing list here to ensure that you are notified when I release my latest content.

Sun In Cancer Opposite Moon In Capricorn

At every Full Moon we experience a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case it is the Sun in Cancer opposing the Moon in Capricorn. As always, Cancer season began on the Solstice on June 21st and will last until July 22nd. This is a Water sign associated with comforts, family, the home, nurturing, bonding, and security. It is emotional, sensitive, domestic, nostalgic, and instinctual. Negatively, it can also be clingy, vulnerable, and moody.

Capricorn is an Earth sign associated with ambition, achievement, duty, mastery, business, and structure. It is practical, realistic, productive, orderly, responsible, disciplined, authoritative, and a social climber. Negatively, it can be too serious, pessimistic, as well as lack warmth and affection.

Full Moon Conjunct Saturn, Square Chiron, and Trine Uranus

This Full Moon is also in a tight conjunction with Saturn. Interestingly, the Sun in Cancer is ruled by the Moon which is in Capricorn while Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. Therefore, Saturn is the most dominant planetary force during this time which really emphasizes the Capricorn themes mentioned above. It also brings in other themes which involve caution, boundaries, commitments, conservatism. This combined with Mars newly retrograde can also trigger some frustrations at this time.

This Full Moon is separating from a square with Chiron in Aries. Being a Mars-ruled sign, it may trigger some of the same themes as Mars retrograde. This could also be a time in which some of the Saturn/Capricorn themes being highlighted now could be somehow connected to challenges/issues around our wounds, blockages, negative patterns, or even trauma.

For some people, this can be time to get realistic or put effort towards working on or healing these shortcomings. In other cases, there could be wounds or issues come up associated around imbalances or negative expression of Capricorn and Cancer energies.

This Full Moon is also separating from a trine with Uranus in Taurus. It is not as dominant as the other energies mentioned, however, some of the Saturn/Capricorn themes may be connected to new or innovative developments, using technology in practical ways, different approaches or changes around money, resources, food, or sensual pleasures.

Full Moon Applying Sextile To Jupiter and Neptune, Jupiter Retrograde Ending Soon

Although there is a lot of restrictive, serious, and cautious Saturn/Capricorn energy at this time, the Moon is moving towards a sextile in Jupiter and Neptune both in water signs. This energy is more subtle, however, it can support growth, healing, spiritual and creative pursuits. It will be more apparent in the period between July 4th and July 8th when the Sun will trine both of these planets.

Jupiter is finishing up its retrograde in Scorpio which began on March 8th and will begin to move forward again on July 10th. Some of the themes that came up when it began may start to be resolved or move forward in a new way when the retrograde ends and in the weeks following. This could have anything to do with Jupiter ruled areas of education, beliefs, experiential pursuits, and travel. Business wise, it could have to do with marketing and publishing.

We could potentially experience a positive shift around the negative expressions of this planet which include overindulging, overdoing, judgement, and overlooking blind spots. Also, being in Scorpio, some of the Jupiter energies mentioned could be connected to investments, shared resources, deep understandings, sexuality, power, or transformation.  We may also begin to progress with new developments or growth in these areas.

However, we need to also keep in mind that Scorpio’s ruler Mars is retrograde, and there are other shifty and thwarting astrological conditions going on this summer like eclipses and Mercury Retrograde. Therefore once we get to late August and especially September, there will even be more of a forward momentum around these things and in other areas as well.

Things To Consider During This Period

In what ways do you need to be more realistic? What area of your life is calling for more discipline, focus, structure, orderliness, or restriction? How can you be more cautious yet innovative at the same time? What commitments require more of your attention? What blocks are getting in the way of any of this? What boundaries do you need to put in place? What do you need to change, implement, or release in order to ensure greater stability in the future? What has come up for you in recent days and how should you proceed based on any new revelations or circumstances?

These are just some examples of what may be coming up for you, however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out as well.  If you wish to do any sort of intentional release connected to what has come up at this Full Moon, it is best to do so anytime over the two weeks following, when it is waning. The exact moment of this Full Moon is on June 28th at 4:53 am Universal Time. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.
