Mercury Retrograde In Scorpio & Libra: Aligning Shared Values

Mercury begins another retrograde process on October 13th/14th  which will last until Nov 3rd/4th. This is when it appears to be moving backwards from our earth based vantage point due to the positioning of the Earth and Mercury in each of their orbits around the Sun. This one is occurring primarily in Scorpio and partially in Libra.

In the weeks (and especially days) leading up to it, it can already start to feel like a retrograde and some of its themes can get seeded. This happens because Mercury slows down (again from our vantage point) and travels in the part of sky it will be returning to after the retrograde begins. This is known as the ‘pre-shadow’ period which began on September 23rd/24th.

This retrograde is happening while Mars is also retrograde which began on September 9th/10th and will last until November 13th/14th. The retrogrades of these planets along with Venus are much more significant and noticeable then those of all the other planets which have further orbits. This is because they are less frequent and are classified as ‘personal’ or ‘inner’ planets. When retrograde they are in a sign (or two signs) for a significantly extended amount of time in comparison to the signs before or after.

Both of these retrogrades reflect a period of adjustments pertaining to their own energies and those of the signs they are in. However, they are both connected as they are happening simultaneously and Mercury is in Scorpio which is a sign that is traditionally ruled by Mars. Another interesting thing is that Mercury begins this retrograde during the peak, or halfway point, of Mars Retrograde when it opposes the Sun. To learn more about this Mars retrograde, I recommend reading my article about it here.

If you have read my previous Mercury Retrograde articles, the remainder of this section and the following one are nearly the same and you can skip to the third section if you don’t want to re-read all the general themes associated with these periods. The other parts are more specific to this edition of it.

Mercury retrograde is known for the problematic effects it often has on communication technology, transactions, motor vehicles, anything with moving parts, and commuting in general. Some people even get headaches near the beginning of it. We could experience some challenges, misunderstandings, and errors around our communications, numbers/details, and commerce, as well as changes, cancellations, or delays in our schedules.

Sometimes these issues could occur when we are excessively analytical without tuning into our internal guidance. Depending on how we flow with it and other variables, we may not always experience these surface level inconveniences, or they could just be minor irritants.

Mercury Retrograde can also be a good time to revisit or redo tasks, projects, ideas, or anything else that was initiated in the past. It can give us a different perspective or shift in thinking that can help us to approach these things in ways we wouldn’t have done before. This may also be a period of reconnecting with old friends, family, lovers, or others we haven’t seen in a while. When we reconnect with people during a retrograde, it can help to facilitate a shift in the relationship. In some cases, issues from the past can come up which may need to be hashed out.

The Deeper Purpose of Mercury Retrograde

Ultimately, Mercury Retrograde is a time for us to recalibrate and adjust specific areas of our lives as well as how we apply our minds towards these issues. It is a period in which we may receive important insights and see things in a new light. In most cases, it can be mildly transformational, but in some cases it can facilitate more major transformations depending on how it corresponds to your personal astrological chart.

During and following the retrograde, certain areas of our lives can go through changes or shifts, or we can experience a re-orientation of some sort which influences how we proceed over the coming months or in some cases, it can have a more long-term significance. In the three weeks afterwards, known as the ‘post-shadow’ period, we move forward with some sort of new awareness, adjustment, as well as new ideas and thoughts that have been seeded which will develop and become more defined as time progresses.

Certain things that have come up specifically in the two weeks leading up to the start of the retrograde could determine where this energy could play out. It is also possible that there could have been changes or developments at that time which may go through a sorting-out process or shift in dynamics during the actual retrograde and in the two weeks following. There could be unknown variables, either positive or negative, that were either unseen or hadn’t been conceived yet, which may become apparent over the coming month.

The sign(s) and element(s) in which Mercury retrograde travels in shows the energy we are re-orienting ourselves with. More importantly, if you are familiar with your natal astrology chart, then your house(s) or any planetary placements being affected will show more specifically which areas of life you will be experiencing its energy in. For the astrologically literate, it begins at 11’40 degrees of Scorpio and will retrograde back to 25’54 degrees of Libra before turning forward again.

Occurring Mostly In Scorpio & Partially In Libra,  The Final of a Series In Water Signs

Mercury Retrograde always happens in primarily one element for 1-2 years. This is the sixth and final one of a series occurring in water signs which began in early 2019. The water element is about emotion, feelings, sensitivity, compassion, intuition, and fluidity. This period is about re-aligning ourselves with these qualities and expressing them in new or revamped ways.

With this retrograde primarily in Scorpio, we may experience or process re-orientations, adjustments, developments, circumstances, or reflect on themes connected to shadows, fears, sexuality, mysteries,  obsessions, esoteric practices, use of power, alchemy, conspiracies, taboo subjects, death, suspicions, secrets, investigating, research, depth, regeneration, or the pursuit of mastery. Psychotherapy, psychology, astrology, tarot, and wicca, are examples of practices that may come up at this time.

This can be a great period to do any sort of ‘shadow work’ to help us on our path to achieving wholeness and greater self-awareness. Scorpio is about going deep which can be a key to facilitate emotional healing at this time. Sometimes we encounter crisis to help to push us towards some sort of transformation and this can be one of the ways this retrograde may be experienced.

Scorpio is also associated with debt, taxes, investments, credit, inheritance, loans, mortgages, and anything to do with shared or other people’s resources. In our relationships or other types of partnerships, themes around shared values or shared worth may also come up.

Scorpio can also be about purging and releasing. This can play out when it comes to our physical belongings or obligations. Emotionally or psychologically, it could have to do with overcoming negative patterns or attachments through deep understanding or discovering and healing the root cause. When it comes to our physical body, it could be about cleansing through dietary changes or modalities such as colon hydrotherapy, which can help with emotional healing as well.

Libra themes will also play a part in this retrograde, yet not as prominent as Scorpio. We can experience re-orientations around relationships, relating, diplomacy, and finding common ground. Libra is associated with balance, fairness, equality, peace, harmony, compromising, looking at different sides, and consideration of others. Themes connected to aesthetics, design, art, and creativity may also play out.

Mercury Retrograde Significant Dates

Below are some of the dates and information for some of the major astrological configurations during this retrograde.

*The dates below are based on the Americas. The further East you are located, you may need to consider it as the next day.

Oct 13th/14th Mercury Retrograde Begins at 1:05am Universal Time During Peak of Mars Retrograde. Jupiter is also sextile Neptune

The common Mercury retrograde themes and complications may come up strongly at this time and in recent days leading up to this. You may get some sort of indication of how it may be playing out for you over the next month based on how you feel or what transpires. It’s possible that certain things that happen at this time, which may seem insignificant, can somehow be connected to how this retrograde process will affect you.

This is the peak of Mars retrograde as it opposes the Sun. The potentials of frustrations, conflicts, and fights will be higher however we may also feel this within ourselves. Generally speaking, the Mars retrograde period is a time to help facilitate a shift in how we apply ourselves as well as how we express assertion, action, anger, aggression, or sexuality. These themes can come up more strongly during this period.

Jupiter is in a sextile with Neptune for much of October, but peaks in the days surrounding Mercury beginning its retrograde. This can help to soften the potential of intensity and conflicts that can happen at this time. It can be expansive, explorative, educational, philosophical, and ambitious in a creative, artistic, spiritual, mystical, idealistic, or compassionate way. With Jupiter being in the Earth sign of Capricorn, many people can experience this around ambitions, career, business, or practical matters. This energy can also be good for visual media efforts. Capricorn can help bring groundedness, practicality, and realism to this idealistic combination of these planets.

Oct 19th/20th Mercury Retrograde Opposite Uranus, Mars Square Jupiter, Venus Trine Jupiter

This is a period in which we may have to be more flexible as the potentials of changes and disruptions can be more strongly at this time. We may have to contend with surprises, inconsistencies, or impulsiveness which may be an inconvenience. The need to break free or separate from something may come up. Rebellious communication can also occur and it can be harder to focus. We should keep in mind that we may not be seeing things clearly or thoroughly so it’s good to be cautious if possible.

We may have to change the way we think about something or take a unique approach. However, for some people this can also be one of the more insightful periods of the retrograde. This energy has been present since before the retrograde began but is stronger and more noticeable at this time.

Mars retrograde is in a square with Jupiter which could reflect conflicts around beliefs, opinions, judgements, or perspectives. This can also contribute to scatteredness or excessiveness. Venus is in a trine with Jupiter (stronger earlier in the day) which can reflect optimism, expansiveness, growth, or fortunate circumstances around relations, love, financial matters, values, pleasures, or anything aesthetic related.

Oct 24th-26th Mercury Retrograde Conjunct the Sun (Inferior Conjunction)

This is the halfway point of Mercury retrograde, known as the ‘inferior conjunction,’ which is when it returns to the Sun. This can be a period of increased insights, and the themes or circumstances pertaining to how this retrograde is affecting you may come up more during this period.

Complications and frustrations can also be stronger at this time depending on your circumstances or how you are applying yourself. This may also be a period of ridding yourself of certain thoughts, ideas, perceptions, old interests, expectations, or other things that are not serving you while the potential for new ones may be seeded.

Oct 31st – Nov 7th Mercury Retrograde Square Saturn as it transitions from Retrograde to Direct

This can be a time of obstacles, delays, limitations, and restrictions as Mercury squares Saturn while it is slowing down and changing motion on November 3rd. This energy can be sobering and communications can have a pessimistic tone. Issues may come up that require realism, discipline, structure, orderliness, practicality, and caution.

Nov 3rd/4th Mercury transitions from Retrograde to Direct

Mercury will slowly begin to move forward from Nov 3rd/4th  onward. The areas of our lives that have been affected by this retrograde will start to become more clear and things will fall into place more easily as we progress into the coming days and weeks, but more so after November 7th and especially after November 13th. As Mercury gradually picks up speed, we can move forward in the areas of life that have been affected. However, usually the first few days after it ends can still feel like it is retrograde as complications may occur due to Mercury’s stationary position and in this case, its square with Saturn. It’s usually best to wait until at least 3 days afterwards before finalizing decisions, agreements, etc.

In the following weeks as Mercury is in its post retrograde shadow (until November 19th), Jupiter will be in a conjunction with Pluto that entire time but peaks as Mars ends its retrograde on November 13th/14th.  This is an energy that can be further revealing of Plutonian issues of shadows, abuse, hidden matters, and darkness. The first conjunction of Jupiter-Pluto happened in late March and early April, when there was a lot of conspiracy information coming out and also widespread fear which is associated with Pluto. It can also be transformative, empowering, and a time of tremendous growth depending on what we are doing.

As Mars slowly begins to move forward following November 13th/14th, we may feel like we are ready to proceed in different ways based on what has transpired in the first half of the month. We can begin to feel more assertive, bold, courageous, and direct. Things can move along with less obstacles and challenges in comparison to the previous months.

New Moon In Sagittarius: Adjustments & Exploration

We are having a New Moon in Sagittarius on November 26th in most parts of the world and on the early hours of the 27th in the time zones furthest East. This is initiating a new 29.5 day lunar cycle and new wave of energy for the coming month; however, the astrological configurations mentioned in this article will be more prominent over the coming two weeks. This cycle will include a Full Moon in Gemini on December 11th/12th.

This New Moon is a month away from the first of two Winter Eclipses, and therefore the effects of them may already begin to play out for some people. Eclipses facilitate changes and evolutionary developments in specific areas of our lives depending on how they are configured with your personal astrology chart. However, they  can also play out in the 3-6 months following and are not always noticeable around the time they are occurring. I will be writing separate articles on these eclipses, you can join my mailing list here to be notified when they are published.

Mercury also ended its retrograde on November 20th/21st and will be in its post-shadow period until December 7th/8th while still in Scorpio. This is a period in which we may progress forward and/or have more clarity in regards to certain themes, issues, insights, or developments that have come up during the retrograde.

New Moon In Sagittarius Quincunx Uranus, Trine Chiron

Sagittarius season began on November 22nd/23rd, however, this New Moon activates its themes even more so and imprints it into the Lunar cycle. This period is good for working with and co-creating with its energies and themes.

Sagittarius is about exploration, experience, learning, teaching, travel, foreign lands, philosophies, religion, beliefs, morals, righteousness,  idealism, luck, and optimism. It is also associated with things like marketing, media, and sales. As a fire sign it is passionate and instinctual. Negatively, Sagittarius energy can be excessive, blunt, egotistical, argumentative, opinionated, preachy, unrealistic, disregarding of consequences, and have a ‘know-it-all’ complex.

This New Moon is in a quincunx with Uranus which is separating from an opposition with Mars. This can reflect disruptions, instability, changes, shake ups, accidents, separations, rebellion, surprises, or losses that can be an annoyance and may require adjustments. This energy is strongest on the day of, and days leading up to, the New Moon.

This Lunation is also in a trine with Chiron which is slowing down to end its retrograde during the upcoming Full Moon phase. This month can be great for developments around healing, self-awareness, spiritual/holistic understandings, or the pursuit of wholeness and integration.

We can more easily make progress in addressing our wounds and shortcomings to help us unlock more of our positive potential. Chiron is also supportive for doing things in an unorthodox way and bringing things together that are usually separate from each other.

Jupiter Finishing It’s Run In Sagittarius Before Entering Capricorn

The ruler of this New Moon, Jupiter, is at the end of its own sign Sagittarius which really strengthens and amplifies the Sagittarian qualities mentioned above as well as overlapping Jupiter themes. It is near the Center of the Galaxy which is a highly significant part of the sky.

The Galactic Center is associated with aspirations, divine inspiration, higher consciousness, evolution, and spirituality. However, its energies can also sometimes trigger pressure, crisis, and challenging situations to help facilitate a needed change. It may be connected to beliefs or higher perspectives.

Jupiter then enters Capricorn on December 2nd/3rd where it will stay until mid December 2020.  Traditionally, it is considered to be challenged in Capricorn as it doesn’t express itself in the way that it likes to. Jupiter is naturally boundless and idealistic while Capricorn is a Saturn ruled Earth sign oriented towards achievement through hard work and discipline within the constructs, limitations, and realities of the physical world.

However, there are still  benefits to Jupiter in Capricorn. In this sign, it can reflect expansive energy towards goals, ambitions, structures, duties, and traditions. It can be good for learning things to help us with achieving, entrepreneurship, pursuing mastery, managing aspects of our lives, or being more productive.

Jupiter will also be moving towards the South Node which will be exact in January. This can also reflect some sort of endings in connection to how Jupiter and Capricorn is expressed in a specific area of our lives. I will be covering this in my upcoming Solar Eclipse in Capricorn article, join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Neptune Going Direct, In A Trine With Mercury

At the time of this New Moon, Neptune in Pisces is transitioning out of its retrograde and starts to slowly progress forward in the following days.  I generally don’t put much emphasis on the actual retrograde periods of the ‘outer planets’ in my articles, however, in the weeks and days near the transition the general energies of that planet can become more noticeable.

It is also possible that certain things that occur at this time may be connected to something that transpired in the second half of June when the retrograde began. Neptune themes that may be highlighted could have something to do with creativity, imagination, visual arts, film/photography, fantasy, dreams, spirituality, divinity, soul mates, compassion, as well as practices and substances that induce psychedelic experiences.

Neptune is also associated with escapism, drugs, alcohol, and behavior that is flaky, delusional and deceptive. Some people may start to realize (or began to realize in June) that they were not seeing a situation clearly or perhaps projecting illusions onto something going on in their life.

With Mercury now moving direct while in a trine with Neptune, we may have a better perception around a situation. This configuration can also reflect heightened intuition, inspiration, or thinking and communicating in a way that is spiritual, creative, or compassionate. This is strongest on November 27th and 28th.

Venus Square Chiron, Trine Uranus, and Conjunct South Node While Sextile Mars

Venus in Capricorn is in a square with Chiron which is strongest on the 26th and 27th but can play out through the Lunar Cycle. This can trigger wounds, blockages, or perceived inadequacies pertaining to values, relationships, appearance, pleasures, or money. However, this can also be an opportunity to bring awareness or potential healing and growth to these areas.

Venus than moves towards a trine with Uranus which is exact on November 28th. This can be stimulating when it comes to our relations. There can be something new, unusual, exciting, insightful, or positively surprising which can play out socially, romantically, financially, creatively, or in regards to fun activities. This can also be a good time for aesthetic developments such as changing the appearance of something or even obtaining things like clothing or other material items.

Venus will then align with the South Node while in a sextile with Mars in Scorpio from December 2nd-3rd.  This can be a good time for activities with others, creative pursuits, or romance. However, there may be something pertaining to old behaviors or aspects of love, friendships, values, or pleasures that are no longer serving us and getting in the way of our growth. It’s possible that what transpires at this time can bring some sort of realization to something that we need to let go of. Mercury will also be in a sextile with Pluto at the same time which can help us with a depth of understanding.

Making Intentions And Things To Consider

What has come up for you during the previous Mercury Retrograde (from Oct 31st – Nov 20th) and in this last week following it? How should you proceed based on realizations or developments that have transpired? Is there anything coming up now to help you grow spiritually? Are there new perspectives coming into your life that may influence your beliefs and awareness? Is there anything that you feel like you need to learn? How are your wounds or blockages affecting your relationships and what can you do to help improve the situation?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time; however, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment of it will be occurring at 3:06pm Universal Time on November 26th.  You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Full Moon In Taurus: Growth & Perseverance

We are having a Full Moon in Taurus on November 12th at 1:34pm Universal Time. It will appear the fullest on the night of the 11th in the Americas and on the night of the 12th elsewhere.

This is the peak of the Lunar cycle that began two weeks prior with a New Moon in Scorpio. The energies of a Full Moon build up as the Moon increases its light and are strongest in the days before and after. However, it will still be a part of the backdrop over the following two weeks.

Mercury is also currently retrograde in Scorpio which you can read more about here. In the day leading up to this Full Moon, Mercury was conjunct the Sun in what is known as the ‘inferior conjunction’ and is still playing out during the Full Moon.

Generally this is an important phase of every Mercury retrograde, however, this one has even more significance because Mercury was exactly aligned with, and visibly in front of, the Sun. This is not the case for every ‘inferior conjunction.’ This is called an ‘Occultation’ and also referred to as a ‘Transit of Mercury’ by astronomers. The last time it occurred was May 2016 and the next time will be in November 2032.

This can be a period of increased insights and the themes of this retrograde may get amplified. However, typical retrograde complications can also be stronger at this time depending on your circumstances or how you are applying your energy. In some cases, this may also be a period of ridding yourself of certain thoughts, ideas, perceptions, old interests, expectations, or other things that are not serving you to make way for new ones to be seeded either at this time or in the coming months.

Full Moon In Taurus Opposite Sun and Mercury in Scorpio

Full Moon’s are a period in which we feel a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case being the Moon in Taurus and Sun in Scorpio. It can play out as either a conflict, integration, or some sort of dynamic playing out between the energies of both signs.

We can feel this opposition happening individually within us and/or we can also experience it play out around us with some people (or circumstances) expressing the Scorpio side and others expressing the Taurus side. In some cases, Full Moon’s can also reflect/trigger some sort of release or change which may apply more so in this case when considering Mercury’s conjunction with the Sun in Scorpio.

Taurus is an Earth sign ruled by Venus. It is associated with values, worth, the material world, sensuality, money, food/substances, security, beauty, art, and nature. It is physically oriented, practical, and realistic. Taurus is thorough and also likes stability and routine. It is like a rock; slow, grounded, and solid. Negatively, Taurus energy can be too rigid, lazy, habitual, greedy, possessive, stubborn, materialistic, overly self-indulgent, and very slow.

Scorpio is a Water sign traditionally ruled by Mars and associated with Pluto. It is about power, transformation, intensity, sexuality, passion, regeneration, hidden matters, depth, as well as shared or owed resources and money. It is emotionally oriented, intuitive, primal, complex, calculated, mysterious, and is associated with shadows and the unconscious. Negatively Scorpio energy can be vengeful, manipulative, compulsive, obsessive, and fearful. (Learn more here about how Scorpio energy can play out during this period)

Full Moon Trine Pluto, Mercury Retrograde Aspecting Saturn Sextile Neptune

This Full Moon is moving towards a trine with Pluto which can be beneficial in supporting the Mercury Retrograde process in Scorpio. This can be good for getting to the bottom of things, making positive changes, evolutionary growth, empowerment, and resourcefulness.

This Pluto energy combined with the post ‘inferior conjunction’ and waning Moon is supportive of releasing aspects of our lives that are not serving us. The previous Full Moon in Aries was also in a configuration with Pluto so for some people these themes may have began around then and could still be playing out now.

This month, Saturn in Capricorn is in its final sextile to Neptune in Pisces. This aspect began earlier in the year but may be more apparent now as it is concluding with both the Full Moon and Mercury Retrograde triggering it. This can reflect developments, thoughts, or ideas around efforts or ambitions pertaining to our ideals, creativity, inspirations, spirituality, or imagination. This can also be good for commitments associated with selflessness, compassion, healing, or spiritual practices.

Mars Sextile Jupiter, Venus Square Neptune

Mars is in Libra aligned with the benefic star Spica while in a sextile with Jupiter in Sagittarius. Considering that Mars is the traditional ruler of Scorpio where Mercury Retrograde is, this helps to bring a more pleasant, optimistic, and perhaps even fortunate energy to the retrograde experience at this time and in the following weeks.

This is in stark contrast to the previous few weeks in this same Lunar cycle that had more challenging configurations which could have reflected obstacles, limitations, delays, intense feelings, and perhaps even destructiveness.

In comparison, the energy now is more expansive, explorative, and growth oriented. We can feel more confident or perhaps even be presented with opportunities. We may want to take action in a big way or towards things connected to education, media, marketing, travel, beliefs, or ideals.

However, considering the retrograde and depending on what it is, it may not be the best time to make final decisions, or solidifying/initiating something major. However, use your judgement. Not every big decision made during a retrograde gets derailed by problems, sometimes it can just be annoying glitches or challenges can playing out in different ways that are still manageable.

Venus in Sagittarius, the ruler of this Full Moon, is moving towards a square with Neptune which is strongest on November 14th. This can play out as confusion, disappointments, and uncertainties which may be connected to relationships, values, finances, worth, or perhaps something to do with aesthetics, pleasures, or material things. We may not see things for what they really are.

Issues around boundaries, self-sacrifice, escapism, intoxication, or sensitivities may also be a theme. Alternatively, this can be good for creativity as well as social situations revolved around spirituality or art. In some cases it can also be magical and romantic.

Things To Consider During This Period

Pay attention to what comes up now or in the days before and after this Full Moon. Circumstances, developments, conversations, thoughts, feelings, or other things that catch your attention may help to provide important realizations or helpful insights. You may better understand something connected to the past and/or whatever occurs now may also be planting a seed for the future.

What aspects of your life need an adjustment, revisitation, or even transformation? Do you have ideas, thoughts, or behaviours that need to be purged? Have you had experiences, feelings, or exposure to anything connected to personal shadows or trauma? Regardless if you did or not, be open to anything that comes up now which can help you or others towards healing and achieving wholeness.

Is there anything coming up regarding financial matters or values, and if so, what changes do you need to make? What do you need to do to be constructive with your inspirations, ideals, compassion, spirituality, or creativity? Do you feel like you should be incorporating a new spiritual practice or ambition in your life? What actions can you take that are empowered or expansive?

These are just some examples of what could come up during this period; however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out. If you wish to do any sort of intentional release connected to what has come up it is best to do so anytime after the peak of the Full Moon or as it is waning over the following two weeks. The exact moment of of it will be on November 12th at 1:34pm Universal Time. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Mercury Retrograde In Scorpio: Going Deep

Mercury begins its latest retrograde process on October 31st, which will last until November 20th/21st. In the weeks (and especially days) leading up to it we start to notice its influence as Mercury slows down and comes to a stop before moving the other way. This is known as the ‘pre-shadow’ period which began on October 11th.

This entire retrograde is occurring during a Lunar cycle that began on October 27th/28th at the New Moon in the same sign. You can read that article here for further insights on this period.

If you have read my previous Mercury retrograde articles, the first two sections of this article are nearly the same and you can skip to the third section if you don’t want to re-read all the general themes associated with these periods. The other sections are more specific to this edition of it.

We may also feel more challenged when we are doing excessive analytical work without using our internal guidance.

Mercury Retrograde can also be a good time to revisit or redo tasks, projects, ideas, or anything else that was initiated in the past. It can give us a different perspective or shift in thinking that can help us to approach these things in ways we wouldn’t have done so before. This may also be a period of reconnecting with old friends, family, lovers, or others you haven’t seen in a while.

In the 2 weeks afterwards, known as the ‘post-shadow’ period, we move forward with some sort of new awareness, adjustment, as well as new ideas and thoughts that have been seeded which will develop and become more defined as time progresses.

The things that you have been doing or circumstances in the two to three weeks leading up to this period could determine how and where this energy plays out. It is also possible that there could have been changes or things that came up at that time which may go through a sorting out process. There could have been unknown variables, either positive or negative, that were either unseen or hadn’t been conceived yet, which may become apparent over the coming weeks.

The sign(s) and element(s) in which Mercury retrograde travels shows the energy we are re-orienting ourselves with. More importantly, if you are familiar with your natal astrology chart, then your house(s) or any planetary placements being affected will show more specifically what areas of life you will be experiencing its energy in. For the astrologically literate, it begins at 27’38 degrees of Scorpio and will retrograde all the way to 11’35 degrees of Scorpio, before turning forward again.

Occurring In Scorpio, Part of a Series in Water Signs

Mercury Retrograde always happens in primarily one element for 1-2 years. This is the third of a series occurring in water signs, with the final one happening in the Fall of 2020. The water element is about emotion, feelings, sensitivity, compassion, intuition, and fluidity. This period is about re-aligning ourselves with these qualities and expressing them in new or revamped ways.

With this retrograde happening in Scorpio, we may experience or process re-orientations, adjustments, developments, circumstances, or reflect on themes connected to shadows, fears, sexuality, mysteries,  obsessions, esoteric practices, alchemy, conspiracies, taboo subjects, death, suspicions, secrets, investigating, research, depth, regeneration, or the pursuit of mastery. Psychotherapy, psychology, astrology, tarot, and other similar practices may come up at this time.

When it comes to our physical body, it could be about cleansing through dietary changes or practices such as colon hydrotherapy, which can help with emotional healing as well.

Mercury Retrograde Significant Dates

Below are some of the dates and information for some of the major astrological configurations during this retrograde.

*The dates below are based on the Americas. The further East you are located, you may need to consider it as the next day.

Oct 31st Mercury begins its retrograde at 3:42pm Universal Time while separating from a conjunction with Venus. Mercury retrograde themes and complications may come up strongly at this time and in recent days. You may get more indication of some of the things that may be playing out for you over the next month based on how you feel or on what transpires.

Developments, communications, thoughts, or other things that have been occurring recently pertaining to Venus may experience a shift, a change of mind, or a change in direction. It may be connected to love, relationships, friendships, pleasures, values, aesthetics, transactions, money, or other material things in general. However, this can play out in other ways as well.

Nov 2nd-6th The traditional ruler and modern sub-ruler of Scorpio, Mars and Pluto, are in a square with each other, peaking at the first quarter Moon from Nov 4-5. It is also triggered by the Moon on Nov 2.  This can stir up deep, suppressed, dark, or perhaps even chaotic feelings. Intensity, power struggles, jealousy, and conflicts could occur. Perhaps challenges around hidden matters may play out. For some people, it can feel like a crisis. We may assert ourselves in obsessive or compulsive ways. More positively, this can also stimulate strong desires, passion, and sexual energy. It can be good for applying ourselves strategically or pursuing change, transformation, or some sort of elimination.

Nov 7th-10th Mercury Retrograde Sextile Pluto (Nov 7th, 9th, 10th). Saturn Sextile Neptune. The Mars-Pluto square (mentioned above for Nov 2nd-6th) also gets triggered by the Moon in the evening and night of the 9th. This is good for looking beneath the surface or perhaps even getting to the bottom of something. We can go deeper in our understandings, and this can be one of the more insightful periods of this retrograde. This can be a time for realizations or pursuits connected to shadows, money, power, hidden matters, what needs to be changed, or how to facilitate change. Conversations, thoughts, or activities may potentially have an empowering or profound theme. This is about being real as superficiality does not fly well during this time.

Saturn in Capricorn is making its 3rd and final sextile to Neptune in Pisces, which began in late January and occurred again in June. This conclusion of this energy started building up in late October and is present throughout this retrograde; however, it peaks this week. This can assist us in taking a committed, disciplined, structured, or realistic approach when it comes to our ideals, spirituality and spiritual practices, imagination, dreams, inspirations, creativity, or anything that involves selflessness, compassion, or healing. For some people it may be connected to career and ambitions.

Nov 11th-13th Mercury Retrograde Conjunct the Sun (Nov 11). Full Moon In Taurus opposite Sun and Mercury, all harmoniously aspecting Neptune, Saturn and Pluto. Mars sextile Jupiter.

This is the halfway point of Mercury retrograde, known as the ‘inferior conjunction,’ which is when it returns to the Sun. This can be a period of increased insights, and the themes of this retrograde may get amplified. However, complications can also be stronger at this time depending on your circumstances or how you are applying yourself. This may also be a period of ridding yourself of certain thoughts, ideas, perceptions, old interests, expectations, or other things that are not serving you while the potential for new ones may be seeded.

The Full Moon and the Mars-Jupiter aspect reflects the potential of this period to be constructive, empowering and growth oriented, and can perhaps present opportunities. Our actions may be more explorative, expansive, or idealistic. If conflicts do occur, which is less likely in comparison to other Full Moons, it may have to do with individual needs, values, or resources being at odds with shared or relationship ones. Perhaps the need to be practical in the midst of complexity may also come up.

I will be writing a separate article on this Full Moon, and you can join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Nov 20th Mercury transitions from Retrograde to Direct. Mercury will slowly begin to move forward from November 20th onward. The areas of our lives that have been affected by this retrograde will start to become more clear and things will fall into place more easily as we progress into the coming days and weeks. As Mercury gradually picks up speed, we can move forward in the areas of life that have been affected. However, usually the first 2-3 days after it ends can still feel like it’s retrograde, as complications may occur due to Mercury’s stationary position. It’s usually best to wait until at least 3 days afterwards before finalizing decisions, agreements, etc.

Later on around January 10th and/or in the days following, there will be even more clarity around certain things that have been seeded during this retrograde. From there, things may develop further with a better perception or other circumstances may indicate that it’s not sufficient, not what was anticipated,  or something needs to change.

New Moon In Scorpio: Shake Ups & Obstacles

We are having a New Moon in Scorpio on the night of October 27th in the Americas and on the 28th elsewhere. This is initiating a new 29.5 day lunar cycle and new wave of energy for the coming month; however, the astrological configurations mentioned in this article will be more prominent over the coming two weeks. This cycle will include a Full Moon in Taurus on November 11th/12th.

Scorpio season began on October 23rd; however, Mercury and Venus have already been there in the weeks prior to this. This New Moon triggers the energies of this sign even more so as it gets imprinted into the Lunar Cycle with its themes.

Scorpio is about depth, transformation, power, regeneration, mastery, extremes, sex, and rebirth. It is complex, passionate, intuitive, calculated, mysterious, penetrating, investigative, controlling, driven, observant, intense, and primal. Psychotherapy, deep healing, or anything that is esoteric can fall under the domain of this sign as it can be about exploring the hidden aspects of life.

Scorpio is also associated with fears, shadows, death, secrets, envy, manipulation, obsessiveness, vengeance, and savagery. Things like shared resources, shared values, investments, inheritance, as well as taxes, debt, and credit all fall under the domain of this sign.

Mercury is slowing down and getting close to beginning its retrograde on October 31st, which will also be in Scorpio. You may have already begun to experience its effects and challenges recently and over the last few weeks. During this next month we can experience insights, adjustments, re-visitations, and re-orientations connected to Scorpio themes. I will be writing a separate article on this, and you can join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

New Moon Opposite Uranus in Taurus

This New Moon is in a tight opposition to Uranus in Taurus. This could indicate surprises, disruptions, sudden changes, instability, or even anxiety. Considering this combined with Mercury going retrograde, it would be wise to be flexible with your plans.

This energy can also reflect wanting to liberate from a situation, try something new, or take an unusual approach to something. It could also be experienced as rebellious and non-conforming. However, it could make us impulsive and hasty and it would be wise to be cautious when making major decisions.

Considering that this opposition occurs in the Taurus-Scorpio polarity, it could play out around finances/resources, or could be pertaining to personal values versus shared values.  It can also bring something to the surface in some kind of surprising or accidental Uranian way.

Mars Square Saturn, Quincunx Neptune, and Square Pluto

The traditional ruler of Scorpio, Mars, is in Libra while in a tight square with Saturn in Capricorn and a quincunx with Neptune in Pisces. This energy is strongest in the days surrounding the New Moon but can still affect the following weeks.

Our actions may be blocked somehow or we can face obstacles, struggles, or perhaps feel like we are under pressure. We may be confused in how we should be applying ourselves and it could be easier to make mistakes. Some people may feel less motivated, or dissatisfied. Although this energy can be challenging, its best to do things thoroughly and cautiously.

Mars moves towards a square with Pluto in Capricorn, which is exact from November 4th-6th. This can trigger deep and suppressed  feelings. Intensity, power struggles, and conflicts could occur. We may assert ourselves in obsessive or compulsive ways. This can also stimulate strong desires, passion, and sexual energy. It can be good for applying ourselves strategically.

Stay tuned for my upcoming Mercury Retrograde article for more information and insights for the coming month. Join my mailing list here to get email notification when it is published.

Making Intentions and Things To Consider

What aspects of your life do you need to approach with more depth and realness? Do you need to take a look at the darker aspects of yourself and do the shadow work to help in your healing process? What are your relationships showing you? Are you under pressure or experiencing any type of crisis? If so, do you feel like an area of your life needs to be transformed or mastered?

Do you need to make a big change or liberate yourself from a situation? What are the limitations and blocks in your life pushing you towards? Does something need to be addressed that is connected to finances, taxes, or debt? What’s coming up for you in regards to sexuality?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time; however, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment of it will be occurring at 3:38am Universal Time on October 28th.  You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Full Moon In Aries: Change & Renewal

We are having a Full Moon in Aries which will be exact on October 13th at 9:08pm Universal Time. It will appear the fullest that night for the majority of the world, and on the night of the 12th for those in Hawaii.

This is the peak of the Lunar cycle which began two weeks prior with a New Moon in Libra. The energies of it build up as the Moon increases its light and are strongest in the days before and after. However, it will still be a part of the backdrop over the following two weeks.

Full Moon’s are a period in which we feel a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case being the Moon in Aries and Sun in Libra. It can reflect either a conflict or integration of both signs.

We can feel this opposition happening individually within us and/or we can also experience it play out around us with some people (or circumstances) expressing the Libra side and others expressing the Aries side. In some cases, Full Moon’s can also reflect/trigger some sort of release or change.

Aries is a fire sign ruled by Mars. It is about individual needs, action, moving forward, pioneering, independence, self-identity, self-orientation, and leadership. It is bold, courageous, and instinctual, yet it can also be aggressive, impulsive, impatient, selfish, and hot-tempered.

Libra is an Air sign ruled by Venus. It is about relating, relationships, partnerships, codependency, consideration, harmony, balance, fairness, art, creativity, and beauty. It is sociable, diplomatic, and intellectual, yet it can also be indecisive, passive aggressive, vain, and even judgemental.

Full Moon Square Pluto and Trine Jupiter

The Full Moon is in a tight square with Pluto which is near Saturn and the South Node in Capricorn. This can trigger the energy of the previous Lunar Eclipse which had strong themes of purging, letting go, as well as the potential for rebirth and transformation. It may reflect things from the past that need to be resolved or concluded.

The area of life in which this may occur depends on how it was interacting with your natal chart. It could be connected to Capricorn themes such as ambitions, career, control, management, social status, financial areas or potential structures in our lives.

This can also reflect issues pertaining to fears, obsessions, compulsive behavior, shadows, dark drives, manipulation, desires, deeply repressed feelings, jealousy, the underworld, and destruction. Conflicts around power and power struggles may also play out which may be connected to Aries-Libra themes mentioned above. Pluto may increase the potential of intensity and Saturn can reflect obstacles.

Although this configuration can be challenging, this Full Moon is also in a trine with Jupiter in Sagittarius which brings some positive and hopeful energy to it as well. This aspect can be good for expansiveness, exploration, and learning. Themes around morals, faith, beliefs, and perspectives may be a part of the equation. It can be good for addressing issues by looking at the big picture and incorporating a higher understanding.

Mercury In Pre-Retrograde Shadow Period, Sextile Saturn, Pluto and Trine Neptune

Mercury in Scorpio will be going retrograde on October 31st and has begun its pre-retrograde shadow period on October 11th/12th. Some of the developments or thoughts that are occurring now and over the coming weeks will go through a process in November in which there could be adjustments, new realizations, and overall some sort of re-calibration to set things up for the following months or even beyond that. I will be writing a separate article on this retrograde, you can join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Mercury is in a sextile with Saturn in Capricorn which is strongest during the Full Moon and the following day. This is good for any type of mental effort and using our mind in a realistic, practical, tangible, or essential way. Communications with others can feel solidifying, productive, or have themes around responsibility and commitment.

Mercury is also in a trine with Neptune in Pisces which peaks on October 15th/16th. Our thoughts, communications, or activities can be idealistic, imaginative, inspired, spiritual, creative, compassionate, or sensitive. This can heighten intuition and we can be more tuned in to symbolism. It can also be good for doing anything involving visual media.

Mercury is in a sextile with Pluto in Capricorn which is strongest October 19th/20th. This can reflect wanting to understand or communicate things on a deeper level. We can be more focused, penetrating, strategic, persuasive, and compulsive. In some cases it can also be good for getting a point across to facilitate some sort of change,

Venus and Mars In Each Other’s Signs at the Midpoint of the Sun and Moon

Mars (the ruler of the Aries Full Moon) is in Libra which is ruled by Venus while Venus is in Scorpio which is traditionally ruled Mars. Generally these planets are considered to be challenged when in these signs on their own, however, in this case they are assisting each other in what is referred to as a ‘mutual reception’.

The midpoint of both Venus and Mars are aligned with the Sun/Moon opposition, as well as in aspect with Pluto. Considering all of this, it helps to alleviate any of the potential conflict between the Aries-Libra opposition and can also help to unify both sides of the polarity.

In the day prior to this Full Moon, Venus was in an opposition to Uranus which could have reflected some changes, insights, disruptions, or surprises around Venus ruled areas such as relationships, money, pleasures, or values. Following this, it is than moving towards a sextile to Saturn which peaks from October 19th-20th. This can bring a more stabilizing, mature, realistic, and supportive energy around relations or finances.

Things To Consider During This Period

How can you approach individual needs while also being considerate of others? What changes do you need to make to help you grow and expand? What is going on beneath the surface? Are any of the potential challenges happening in your life connected to something that you need to release or transform? How do you feel about everything when you take a step back and look at it from a higher perspective? What is the big picture and how can you incorporate your understandings to help you proceed or resolve any difficulties?

These are just some examples of what could come up during this period; however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out. If you wish to do any sort of intentional release connected to what has come up at this Full Moon, it is best to do so anytime after the peak when as wanes over the following two weeks. The exact moment of this Full Moon is on October 13th at 9:08pm Universal Time. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

New Moon In Sagittarius: Pursuing Ideals

We are having a New Moon in Sagittarius on December 7th, 2018 in most of the world and late night December 6th in Western North America. This is initiating a 29.5-day Lunar cycle and a new wave of energy for the coming month. This cycle will peak at the Full Moon in Cancer on December 22nd.

The Sun entered Sagittarius on November 22nd, while Jupiter and Mercury Retrograde have also been in this sign, so we have already been experiencing much of its qualities already. However, in this case we can experience more of a ‘kick start’ of Sagittarian energies due to this New Moon as well as Mercury beginning to move forward.

Sagittarius is about exploration, experience, learning/teaching, travel, foreign countries, philosophies, beliefs, idealism, and optimism. It is also associated with things like marketing, media, and sales. It is passionate and instinctual, yet can be excessive, blunt, egotistical, argumentative, opinionated, preachy, unrealistic, and have a ‘know-it-all’ complex. However, this New Moon is an opportunity to work with Sagittarian energies in new or revamped ways.

Mercury has been retrograde since mid-November which ends 10 hours before this New Moon. Since then, we could have been experiencing some adjustments, challenges, realizations, or a different outlook in certain areas of our lives connected to Sagittarian themes mentioned. From this point on until December 24th, we will gain more clarity, momentum, productivity, or final conclusions around the aspects of our lives that been affected by the retrograde.

It is good to look back at the period between November 25th-28th which was the most significant part of this retrograde. Certain thoughts, conversations, and developments that occurred during that time could provide some of the more important realizations and understandings which could influence how things develop over the coming months. However, it is also important to see how things fall into place over the coming weeks.

New Moon Square Mars-Neptune Conjunction In Pisces

Mars in Pisces has been moving towards a conjunction with Neptune which peaks at this New Moon, yet this energy will also affect the entire lunar cycle to a certain degree. This can be good for doing anything creative, spiritual, inspiring, idealistic, compassionate, relaxing, selfless, or something that involves water. It can make us more easy going, in the flow, and could even feel magical for some people.

Escapism or intoxication tendencies can also be strong for people who are more susceptible to that.  Our actions or drive can also be unrealistic and fantasy based. Considering that Mercury is also changing motion during the peak of this aspect, it can be more difficult to do mundane and practical tasks. We can also experience more challenges or delays due to lack of attention or cloudy thinking.

This conjunction is in a square with the New Moon in Sagittarius, which can contribute to being less focused, scattered, and/or confused. Perhaps in some cases there can be a conflict around beliefs and opinions. However, this square can also be good for taking creative, spiritual, visual, or inspired action towards Sagittarius activities related to learning/teaching, travel, or media.

Mercury In Grand Trine With Chiron and North Node while in a Quincunx With Uranus

As Mercury ends its retrograde in late Scorpio, it stays nearly still while in a grand trine with Chiron in Pisces and the North Node in Cancer. Our thinking or communications can have themes connected to healing, holistic understanding, unorthodox approaches, bridging ideas/things, wholeness, and spiritual integration.

Considerations of the future and where we are headed could come up. Moving forward instead of staying stuck in the past, or perhaps utilizing challenges of the past to help us move forward. This grand trine is occurring in water signs which can make this energy emotional, passionate, sensitive, and intuitive.

Mercury is also in a quincunx with Uranus which is strongest from December 9th -12th. This occurs just before Mercury returns to Sagittarius. This can manifest as disruptions, unexpected developments, or changes which could require us to make necessary adjustments.

This can also play out as challenges around communication, or perhaps previously unforeseen details coming into our awareness which could require a change in the way think about something. In some cases, this period can have some complications that are usually associated with Mercury retrograde.

Venus Still In Post-Retrograde Shadow Period, Moving Towards Sextile With Saturn

Although Venus ended its retrograde in mid-November, the ‘post-retrograde shadow’ period is a month long in itself. This is when it appears to gradually pick up speed in forward motion and travels back to the same parts of the zodiac where it was previously during the retrograde.

During this time, we gain more clarity, as well as forward moving developments regarding Venus, ruled areas of love, relationships, friendships, values, money, aesthetic undertakings, life’s pleasures, or perhaps other social themes. It is possible there could be some significant Venus related developments that could occur between December 6th-9th, and more likely from December 7th-8th. If so, it could be connected to what was playing out or thoughts that have occurred in late October.

Venus is also moving towards a sextile with Saturn in Capricorn which is exact on December 16th, the same day that the Venus shadow period ends. This could also be another significant period for some people regarding Venus issues. Perhaps there can be some sort of conclusion to what the Venus retrograde was about for you.

The aspect with Saturn could bring some stabilizing or solidifying energy to Venus-ruled areas, and perhaps can having something to do with commitments or responsibilities. Mars will also be in a sextile with Pluto at the same time. These energies combined can be good for making great progress in different areas of life, depending on how this is all interacting with your personal natal chart.

Making Intentions And Things To Consider

What insights or developments have occurred in the last few days? What thoughts or intuitions have you been having? Have there been any synchronicities or repeating themes coming up around you, through communications with others, or perhaps through any type of media you have been consuming? How does that connect to what has been playing out for you over the last 5 weeks? How do you currently think you should proceed based on this?

In what ways do you need to expand in your life? What can you do to better live your truth? Have your beliefs or perspectives changed or perhaps challenged? What are your relationships showing you? What are your ideals?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time, however, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. However, the closer the better and can be as early as 30 minutes prior to the exact moment of it. This New Moon will be occurring at 7:20am Universal Time on December 7th. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Venus Retrograde In Scorpio & Libra: Adjustments Around Relationships & Values

Venus is retrograde from October 5th until November 16th. It has been building up since September 2nd, when Venus entered what is called the “pre-shadow” period. When a planet goes retrograde, our perspective here on Earth makes it appear to be going backwards in the sky.

Unlike Mercury Retrograde, Venus Retrogrades occur less frequently, every 19 months, but they last about twice as long. Although both retrogrades have some similarities in regards to how they might affect your social life, Venus still presents a much different vibe.

Retrogrades are a time to revisit, reflect on, and make adjustments to things represented by that planet. Venus rules over love, intimate relationships, friendships, values, money, beauty, and overall attractability. It is associated with our passions, creativity, pleasures, and tastes.

Venus begins its retrograde in a square with Mars which has also recently been retrograde. Therefore, much of the Mars related shifts that occurred throughout the summer and up until early October has set the stage for this Venus’ retrograde.

These recent months have been a time of re-orientation of how we assert and apply ourselves.

In some cases this previous Mars retrograde could have been connected to shifts around how we apply aggression, sexuality, and desires. There could have also been surprises, sudden changes, disruptions, or taking action towards some sort of freedom or liberating from a situation.

Intimate and Social Relationships

For many couples, though not all, it can be a challenging time. Whether challenging or not, however, Venus retrograde can deepen or shift the way love and/or pleasure are expressed between partners. Any new relationships — those shorter than 18 months — may be tested during this period, as it will be the first one experienced as a couple.

Any new developments or perspectives around relationships that have occurred since September 2nd may end up playing out quite differently than expected over the next few months. Consider this an important step in the evolution of your relationship(s). If all is well, it will ultimately be strengthened.

Friendships could be affected in this way as well, minus the intimacy. This could also be a time when people reconnect with friends (or lovers) of the past to further evolve the relationship. It could bring some sort of closure and/or new developments.

New or reacquainted relationships that form during Venus retrogrades can play an important role in evolving how we apply ourselves in relationships into the future. However, for anyone who does enter a new relationship at this time, it would be good to wait until after the retrograde is over before going ‘all in’. At that point, things will then become more clear on how to proceed with matters of love. In some cases a relationship can get more serious or developed in the post retrograde period while in other cases it could come to an end.

Money, Values, Beauty, and Material Things

Depending on what area of your natal chart it is occurring in, and while considering other factors, Venus retrograde could create a shift in what we value and/or how we are valued and what we are attracted to. For some people, there could also be a shift in financial matters that may have begun developing or played out sometime since early September. If so, be mindful of the fact that things could still change over the next few months.

It would also be a good idea to be cautious when doing anything new that involves beauty, decorating, or buying any items related to fashion. There is a greater possibility that eventually you may not be happy with these kinds of choices that you make. However, Venus retrograde can be good for renovations in many cases, especially after October 31st when it returns to Libra.

This Retrograde Starts in Scorpio and Travels Back to Libra

Venus begins its retrograde in Scorpio, and it has been in that sign since September 9th. Developments around financial matters, shared resources, or credit  may have come up since then and can continue to play out. This retrograde could also have to do with a re-orientation of how we spend finances towards fun and pleasurable pursuits.

Scorpio is a passionate, intense, transformative, and primal energy. It can be very calculated and cautious, but once it wants something, it is ‘all in’. As a result,  it can also be possessive, jealous, fearful, controlling, manipulative, and obsessive. Therefore matters of love and romance could be flavoured with those themes.

Venus re-enters its own sign of Libra on October 31st and will end its retrograde there. Because it rules this sign, it amplifies some of the Venus themes already mentioned. In this sign, it could facilitate a re-orientation of how we seek harmony and balance in our love lives, socially, or even financially. Adjustments connected to beauty, style, or anything aesthetic could occur. A shift in our creativity could also occur during this period.

Venus ends its retrograde close to the star Spica, which is traditionally the most fortunate and lucky star. In the week before and after the retrograde, we may notice its energy the most. Depending on how it is interacting with your natal astrology chart, this period can be highly beneficial socially, romantically, financially, creatively, or aesthetically.

Journey of Venus Retrograde – Timeline

*Below, are some of the dates and information about Venus’ aspects othe major astrological configurations during this retrograde. However, I also usually post about other astro energies happening on my social media via Instagram and Facebook, you can follow those platforms for more forecast content.

Earlier dates are for those in Western part of the world and later dates for those in the East.

October 5th/6th Venus retrograde begins at 7:05pm Universal Time.

The days surrounding this period could be a time in which some of the themes mentioned above could become more apparent. In some cases, their could be some sort of development that will play a significant role in how this retrograde plays out for you.

October 10th/11th Venus square Mars.

This can be a passionate time in relationships, however, it can also stimulate tension, conflict, and intensity either in our love lives or socially. Perhaps some developments connected to sexuality may come up. This can also be a period of impulsively or aggressively spending money or seeking pleasures. This energy can also be competitive. Taking action towards anything to do with aesthetics or creativity could occur as well. This energy can start to become noticeable when the retrograde begins, however, it peaks at this period.

October 15th/16th Venus conjunct Mercury.

This can be a good time for anything social. Perhaps connecting with old friends, associates, or lovers could occur. We may put extra mental focus towards Venus ruled areas or perhaps learn something that we were unaware of before. Financial transactions connected to the past may also occur.

October 23rd – 25th  Full Moon in Taurus aligned with Uranus, aspecting Venus, Saturn, and square the Lunar Nodes.

Uranus involved can indicate a period of surprises, changes, new experiences, and even excitement in some cases. Regardless of whatever shift that Uranus could bring, Venus and the Full Moon are also in a harmonious aspect with Saturn, which can still add themes around stability, realism, responsibilities, and commitments around relationships, friendships, values, finances, or anything to do with aesthetics or creativity. This period can be karmic and/or evolutionary, however we can also potentially feel pulled in different directions, and/or between the past and future. The energies of this Full Moon builds up in the weeks prior and also has a strong influence over the following few weeks, especially when some of this gets triggered again around October 30th-31st.

(I will be writing more about this Full Moon in separate article, you can join my mailing list here to be notified when it is published.)

October 25th – 27th  Venus conjunct the Sun (Inferior Conjunction).

This is a seeding period for areas of life ruled by Venus. Whatever is seeded at this time will build up towards a culmination that will occur in the summer of 2019. This exact alignment occurs at this time, however, the seeding energy can actually last from Oct 20th-31st. This can be a period of significant happenings, however, it is possible that whatever occurs may not seem so until later, perhaps even a few months after the retrograde ends.

October 30th-31st Venus opposite Uranus in Grand Cross with the Lunar Nodes, Venus semi-sextile Mercury.

This triggers some of the same energies of the previous Full Moon mentioned already mentioned. However, this period can be a bit more disruptive or surprising when it comes to Venus matters, and could require adjustments. Like the previous Full Moon, this period can be karmic and/or evolutionary, however, we can also feel pulled in different directions, and/or between the past and future. This can be good for some sort of clarification or communication around Venus matters.

October 31st/Nov 1st Venus retrograde enters Libra.

Venus returns home to its own sign, which can bring more harmony to Venus matters compared to earlier part of the retrograde. However, it is still retrograde and in close aspect to Uranus and the Lunar Nodes as mentioned, so it can still be a bit shaky for some people.

November 2nd – 4th Venus semisextile Jupiter and quincunx Chiron, with Jupiter Trine Chiron.

This can be a period of growth around Venus matters, however, it can also be a time where we need to make adjustments due to wounds and blockages around Venus issues. Jupiter is in a trine with Chiron this week which can be great for healing, learning, and having a greater awareness of our blockages and/or gifts.

November 6th – 8th Uranus square the Nodes while they all change signs. Jupiter enters Sagittarius.

The Lunar Nodes are going into the Cancer/Capricorn axis and will stay there over the following 18 months. This is beginning a process of changes of how we work with energies of these signs, pushing us towards being more caring, nurturing, and connecting emotionally with loved ones. Uranus changing signs could reflect changes, disruptions, surprises, and perhaps revisiting a theme connected to authentic individuality which has been playing out since 2011. Jupiter enters its own sign of Sagittarius where it will be until December of 2019. This is the beginning of a year long process that could be very expansive around our beliefs, perspectives, and could provide a lot of learning through our experiences, education, and travel. You may have already started noticing these energies beginning to play out sometime during the months prior to this date.

November 8th/9th  Venus trine Mars.

This energy can make us more active socially, romantically, and creatively. This can also stimulate sexual attraction.

November 10th/11th Venus semi-square Mercury.

This can be a more social time. Communication and mental activity around Venus issues could also be theme.  However, it is possible that there can be some difficulties or tension in these ways as well.

November 16th Venus Retrograde Ends Conjunct Spica, Mercury goes retrograde.

Venus comes to a stop and slowly begins to move forward while being blessed by a very fortunate star, Spica. Over the coming weeks and months, the chips will fall into place more clearly as a result of any adjustments or seeds planted during this retrograde period. However, Mercury also begins its retrograde period which is occurring in Sagittarius and Scorpio. This indicates another reorientation in our lives that could be somehow connected to what has occurred during the Venus retrograde.
