New Moon In Sagittarius: Adjustments & Exploration

We are having a New Moon in Sagittarius on November 26th in most parts of the world and on the early hours of the 27th in the time zones furthest East. This is initiating a new 29.5 day lunar cycle and new wave of energy for the coming month; however, the astrological configurations mentioned in this article will be more prominent over the coming two weeks. This cycle will include a Full Moon in Gemini on December 11th/12th.

This New Moon is a month away from the first of two Winter Eclipses, and therefore the effects of them may already begin to play out for some people. Eclipses facilitate changes and evolutionary developments in specific areas of our lives depending on how they are configured with your personal astrology chart. However, they  can also play out in the 3-6 months following and are not always noticeable around the time they are occurring. I will be writing separate articles on these eclipses, you can join my mailing list here to be notified when they are published.

Mercury also ended its retrograde on November 20th/21st and will be in its post-shadow period until December 7th/8th while still in Scorpio. This is a period in which we may progress forward and/or have more clarity in regards to certain themes, issues, insights, or developments that have come up during the retrograde.

New Moon In Sagittarius Quincunx Uranus, Trine Chiron

Sagittarius season began on November 22nd/23rd, however, this New Moon activates its themes even more so and imprints it into the Lunar cycle. This period is good for working with and co-creating with its energies and themes.

Sagittarius is about exploration, experience, learning, teaching, travel, foreign lands, philosophies, religion, beliefs, morals, righteousness,  idealism, luck, and optimism. It is also associated with things like marketing, media, and sales. As a fire sign it is passionate and instinctual. Negatively, Sagittarius energy can be excessive, blunt, egotistical, argumentative, opinionated, preachy, unrealistic, disregarding of consequences, and have a ‘know-it-all’ complex.

This New Moon is in a quincunx with Uranus which is separating from an opposition with Mars. This can reflect disruptions, instability, changes, shake ups, accidents, separations, rebellion, surprises, or losses that can be an annoyance and may require adjustments. This energy is strongest on the day of, and days leading up to, the New Moon.

This Lunation is also in a trine with Chiron which is slowing down to end its retrograde during the upcoming Full Moon phase. This month can be great for developments around healing, self-awareness, spiritual/holistic understandings, or the pursuit of wholeness and integration.

We can more easily make progress in addressing our wounds and shortcomings to help us unlock more of our positive potential. Chiron is also supportive for doing things in an unorthodox way and bringing things together that are usually separate from each other.

Jupiter Finishing It’s Run In Sagittarius Before Entering Capricorn

The ruler of this New Moon, Jupiter, is at the end of its own sign Sagittarius which really strengthens and amplifies the Sagittarian qualities mentioned above as well as overlapping Jupiter themes. It is near the Center of the Galaxy which is a highly significant part of the sky.

The Galactic Center is associated with aspirations, divine inspiration, higher consciousness, evolution, and spirituality. However, its energies can also sometimes trigger pressure, crisis, and challenging situations to help facilitate a needed change. It may be connected to beliefs or higher perspectives.

Jupiter then enters Capricorn on December 2nd/3rd where it will stay until mid December 2020.  Traditionally, it is considered to be challenged in Capricorn as it doesn’t express itself in the way that it likes to. Jupiter is naturally boundless and idealistic while Capricorn is a Saturn ruled Earth sign oriented towards achievement through hard work and discipline within the constructs, limitations, and realities of the physical world.

However, there are still  benefits to Jupiter in Capricorn. In this sign, it can reflect expansive energy towards goals, ambitions, structures, duties, and traditions. It can be good for learning things to help us with achieving, entrepreneurship, pursuing mastery, managing aspects of our lives, or being more productive.

Jupiter will also be moving towards the South Node which will be exact in January. This can also reflect some sort of endings in connection to how Jupiter and Capricorn is expressed in a specific area of our lives. I will be covering this in my upcoming Solar Eclipse in Capricorn article, join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Neptune Going Direct, In A Trine With Mercury

At the time of this New Moon, Neptune in Pisces is transitioning out of its retrograde and starts to slowly progress forward in the following days.  I generally don’t put much emphasis on the actual retrograde periods of the ‘outer planets’ in my articles, however, in the weeks and days near the transition the general energies of that planet can become more noticeable.

It is also possible that certain things that occur at this time may be connected to something that transpired in the second half of June when the retrograde began. Neptune themes that may be highlighted could have something to do with creativity, imagination, visual arts, film/photography, fantasy, dreams, spirituality, divinity, soul mates, compassion, as well as practices and substances that induce psychedelic experiences.

Neptune is also associated with escapism, drugs, alcohol, and behavior that is flaky, delusional and deceptive. Some people may start to realize (or began to realize in June) that they were not seeing a situation clearly or perhaps projecting illusions onto something going on in their life.

With Mercury now moving direct while in a trine with Neptune, we may have a better perception around a situation. This configuration can also reflect heightened intuition, inspiration, or thinking and communicating in a way that is spiritual, creative, or compassionate. This is strongest on November 27th and 28th.

Venus Square Chiron, Trine Uranus, and Conjunct South Node While Sextile Mars

Venus in Capricorn is in a square with Chiron which is strongest on the 26th and 27th but can play out through the Lunar Cycle. This can trigger wounds, blockages, or perceived inadequacies pertaining to values, relationships, appearance, pleasures, or money. However, this can also be an opportunity to bring awareness or potential healing and growth to these areas.

Venus than moves towards a trine with Uranus which is exact on November 28th. This can be stimulating when it comes to our relations. There can be something new, unusual, exciting, insightful, or positively surprising which can play out socially, romantically, financially, creatively, or in regards to fun activities. This can also be a good time for aesthetic developments such as changing the appearance of something or even obtaining things like clothing or other material items.

Venus will then align with the South Node while in a sextile with Mars in Scorpio from December 2nd-3rd.  This can be a good time for activities with others, creative pursuits, or romance. However, there may be something pertaining to old behaviors or aspects of love, friendships, values, or pleasures that are no longer serving us and getting in the way of our growth. It’s possible that what transpires at this time can bring some sort of realization to something that we need to let go of. Mercury will also be in a sextile with Pluto at the same time which can help us with a depth of understanding.

Making Intentions And Things To Consider

What has come up for you during the previous Mercury Retrograde (from Oct 31st – Nov 20th) and in this last week following it? How should you proceed based on realizations or developments that have transpired? Is there anything coming up now to help you grow spiritually? Are there new perspectives coming into your life that may influence your beliefs and awareness? Is there anything that you feel like you need to learn? How are your wounds or blockages affecting your relationships and what can you do to help improve the situation?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time; however, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment of it will be occurring at 3:06pm Universal Time on November 26th.  You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Full Moon In Sagittarius: Expansive Inspiration

We are having a Full Moon in Sagittarius on June 17th with the Moon appearing the brightest on the night of June 16th in the Western world. The energies of it are strongest in the days before and after, however, it will still be a part of the backdrop over the following two weeks. This is the peak of the Lunar cycle which began on June 3rd with a New Moon in Gemini.

Full Moon’s are a period in which we feel a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case being the Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius. It can reflect either a conflict or integration of both signs. We can feel this opposition happening individually within us and/or we can also experience it play out around us with some people (or circumstances) expressing the Gemini side and others expressing the Sagittarius side.

Gemini is an Air sign ruled by Mercury. It is socially and mentally oriented. Gemini is associated with communication and information. It is articulate, curious, clever, informative, quick witted, and dualistic. It is the sign of multiple personalities. Negatively, it can be gossipy, inconsistent, superficial, insincere, two-faced, and too much in the mind without consideration of the heart.

Sagittarius is a Fire sign ruled by Jupiter. It is adventurous, worldly, philosophical, idealistic, jovial, passionate, optimistic, expansive, outspoken, blunt, and free spirited. It is associated with beliefs, travel, teaching, publishing, and marketing. Negatively it can be arrogant, pretentious, preachy, exaggerating, irresponsible, reckless, and can overdo things without taking potential consequences into consideration.

Gemini and Sagittarius are both associated with learning. The difference between the two is that Sagittarius is more broad minded and invested in its own experiential or idealistic perspective. Gemini is more factual with information and details, generally from other sources, but may lack development in its own views in comparison. Also Gemini represents more of the local and immediate environment, while Sagittarius is the world at large. Both signs can be adaptable, versatile, yet can also be scattered.

Full Moon Aligned With The Galactic Center, Eclipses and Saturn Conjunct South Node Coming Up

This Full Moon is aligned with the Galactic Center which symbolically can have different meanings. It can represent higher consciousness, and tapping into new ideas, perspectives, and concepts. It can reflect experiences that help to push us forward in our evolution. It is even associated with extraterrestrials and ultra-terrestrial energy.

However, the evolutionary quality of the Galactic Center can also play out through immense pressures, challenges, and even destructiveness to help us bring in something new. Interestingly, this Full Moon is two weeks prior to a Solar Eclipse followed by a Lunar Eclipse in mid-July which fits in well with Galactic Center themes.

Eclipse season is a period that can feel heavy yet ultimately helps to facilitate certain changes in our lives which can play out in the months following. The effects of an eclipse can begin up to 6 weeks prior and can be felt more heavily as we get closer to it. I will be publishing separate content on them, you can join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Saturn will also make a 2nd conjunction with the South Node over the coming weeks during its retrograde. This aspect began in April and is part of a process that will conclude in early Fall. Ultimately it has to do with endings connected to issues of the past that can be holding us back from our future.

We may have to continue to go through some experiences related to this over the coming months before finally letting go of (or moving on from) whatever this is triggering in our lives. This energy can also feel a bit heavy, especially with Pluto close by. It may bring up themes connected to responsibilities, maturity, commitments, boundaries, structures, career obligations, barriers, and limitations.

Jupiter Square Neptune with Venus Triggering It, Saturn Sextile Neptune

As mentioned in previous articles, Jupiter in Sagittarius (also ruler of Sagittarius) is in a square with Neptune in Pisces throughout much of this year. It will be strong at this time with the Full Moon also triggering it.

This can be an expansive energy in regards to spirituality, creativity, imagination, dreams, idealism, or compassionate pursuits.  However, it can also be a time of confusion around beliefs, faith, and perspectives. This aspect on its own can be overly idealistic and can reflect overlooking. certain details and facts. However, Saturn’s aspect with Neptune (mentioned below) can help to mitigate that and can be different for everybody.

Saturn in Capricorn is making its second sextile with Neptune which is strong at the time of this Full Moon and the weeks before and after. It began in late January and will conclude in November.  This can assist us in taking a structured, realistic, disciplined, committed approach when it comes to ideals, dreams, inspirations, creativity, spirituality, or even anything that involves selflessness, compassion, or healing. For some people it may be connected to career and ambitions.

Venus in Gemini will be forming a T-square with Jupiter-Neptune which will be strongest on June 23rd, and on the 24th for those in the Eastern part of the world. At best, this energy can be good for creative pursuits or social activities that are spiritually oriented.

However, it can also play out as overdoing pleasurable activities or escapism. We also need to be cautious of being unrealistic around money or perhaps even overspending. There can also be conflicts around values, beliefs, and ideals. In our relations, we may experience confusion or issues around our boundaries.

Saturn in Capricorn is making its second sextile with Neptune. It began in late January and will conclude in November. Although this isn’t as strong as the Jupiter-Neptune aspect mentioned above, this can assist us in taking a structured, disciplined or committed approach when it comes to ideals, dreams, inspirations, creativity, spirituality, or even anything that involves selflessness, compassion, or healing.

Mercury Conjunct Mars Near North Node, Opposing Pluto With Saturn

Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, is in Cancer while making a conjunction to Mars and close to the North Node. It is in an opposition to Pluto with Saturn and the South Node close by. This energy is strongest from June 18th-20th.

At best, this can reflect active and deep thinking. We might feel a need to act on or consider the future but may have to contend with challenges connected to the past. Or perhaps dealing with old obstacles can help us progress forward in some cases.

This can be a time in which there is a higher potential for conflicts, arguments, power struggles, compulsive behavior, and overall intensity. It would be good to be active at this time, however, it would also be wise to not do anything risky or potentially dangerous. This energy can also be positively utilized for actions that involve clearing, purging, transforming, or destroying.

Mercury will be going retrograde on July 7th, days after the next Solar Eclipse that is occurring on July 2nd. The pre-shadow period begins on June 20th so keep in mind that certain developments that occur after that date may go through a sorting out process until mid Summer. With all of this going on, a large percentage of people can expect some significant shifts over the next 6-8 weeks.

Things To Consider During This Period

What is the big picture for you and what do you need to take into consideration? Are there any aspects of your beliefs that you are lacking clarity around? What inspires you? What do you want to learn or teach? How can you make your ideals or dreams a reality? Have you been feeling pressure to make certain changes in your life? Do you need to address unfinished business? What aspects of your past do you need to sort out to help you expand forward?

These are just some examples of themes that could come up during this period; however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out as well.  If you wish to do any sort of intentional release connected to what has come up at this Full Moon, it is best to do so anytime over the two weeks following, when it is waning. The exact moment of this Full Moon is on June 17th at 8:31am Universal Time. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Mercury Retrograde In Sagittarius: Revising Our Perspectives

Mercury began the latest edition of its retrograde process on November 16th/17th, which will last until December 6th/7th. In the weeks (and especially days) leading up to it we start to notice its influence as Mercury slows down and comes to a stop before moving the other way. This is known as the ‘pre-shadow’ period which began on October 29th.

If you have read my previous Mercury retrograde articles, the first two sections of this article are nearly the same and you can skip to the third section if you don’t want to re-read all the general themes associated with these periods. The other sections are more specific to this edition of it.

Mercury retrograde is known for the problematic effects it often has on communication technology, transactions, motor vehicles, anything with moving parts, and commuting in general. Some people even get headaches near the beginning of it. We could experience some challenges, misunderstandings, and errors around our communications, numbers/details, and commerce, as well as changes, cancellations, or delays in our schedules. We may also feel more challenged when we are doing excessive analytical work without using our internal guidance.

Although there is a higher probability of experiencing more of these problems during this time, they won’t necessarily apply to every situation. Some people may not notice these energies as much, depending on what types of things they are doing and how the astrology is playing out unique to the person’s astrological blueprint.

Mercury Retrograde can also be a good time to revisit or redo tasks, projects, ideas, or anything else that was initiated in the past. It can give us a different perspective or shift in thinking that can help us to approach these things in ways we wouldn’t have done so before. This may also be a period of reconnecting with old friends, family, sometimes lovers, or others you haven’t seen in a while.

The Deeper Purpose of Mercury Retrograde

Ultimately, Mercury Retrograde is a time for us to recalibrate and adjust specific areas of our lives as well as how we apply our minds towards these issues. It is a period in which we may receive important insights and see things in a new light. In most cases, it can be mildly transformational, but in some cases it can facilitate more major transformations depending on how it corresponds to your personal astrological chart.

During and following the retrograde, certain areas of our lives can go through changes or shifts, or we can experience a reorientation of some sort which influences how we proceed over the coming months or in some cases, it can have a more long-term significance. In the 2 weeks afterwards, known as the ‘post-shadow’ period, we move forward with some sort of new awareness, adjustment, as well as new ideas and thoughts that have been seeded which will develop as time progresses.

The things that you have been doing or circumstances in the two to three weeks leading up to this period could determine how and where this energy plays out. It is also possible that there could have been changes put in place at that time which may go through a sorting out process. There could have been unknown variables, both positive and negative, that were either unseen or hadn’t been conceived yet, which may become apparent over the coming weeks.

The sign(s) and element(s) in which Mercury retrograde travels shows the energy we are re-orienting ourselves with. More importantly, if you are more familiar with your natal astrology chart, your house(s) or any planetary placements being affected will show more specifically what areas of life you will be experiencing its energy in. For the astrologically literate, it began at 13’30 degrees of Leo and will retrograde all the way to 27’17 degrees of the Scorpio, before turning forward again.

This One Is Occurring Mostly In Sagittarius, Part of A Series In Fire Signs

Mercury retrograde always happens in primarily one element for more than a year. It is currently occurring in the Fire element which is about passion, creativity, instinct, inspiration, assertiveness, courage, confidence, and spirit. It also ends in the Water sign of Scorpio leading to the transition into Water signs which kicks off more so at the next Mercury retrograde in Pisces.

This Fire period is about re-aligning ourselves with these themes and expressing them in new or revamped ways. This ‘Fire process’ began in the spring of 2017 as it was transitioning out of Earth signs, with the first Mercury Retrograde to be completely in Fire occurring last December.

This one is more specific to a reorientation around Sagittarius themes, which is about beliefs, opinions, perspectives, teaching, hope, optimism, exploration, travel, and higher education. It is visionary and ‘big picture’ oriented. Sagittarius is also associated with marketing, sales, publishing, and media. It is idealistic, philosophical, and expansive. Expressed negatively, Sagittarius energy can also be judgemental, excessive, blunt, egotistical, argumentative, preachy,  too scattered, and have a ‘know-it-all’ complex.

Mercury Retrograde Begins With a Square To Neptune

Mercury in Sagittarius begins its retrograde in a square with Neptune in Pisces which it will return to at the end of the post-shadow period. The combination can make it a little difficult to focus and deal with details and facts. However, it can stimulate abstract thought and help us to perceive things symbolically.

An evolutionary theme of this retrograde for many people could be about the reworking of how we apply Mercury and Neptune energies together. Mercury rules communication, the mind, commuting, communication technology, and how we process information. Neptune is associated with creativity, imagination, visual or musical arts, selflessness, oneness, compassion, idealism, dreams, spirituality, and mysticism.

Negative expressions of this energy that may come up that we need to work on could be connected to deception, addictions, escapism, illusions, flakiness, delusion, confusion, and lack of boundaries. Then you can also factor in the Sagittarian themes mentioned above.

Jupiter Recently Entered Sagittarius, Venus Finished Retrograde

The ruler of Sagittarius, Jupiter, has returned to its own sign on November 8th where it will stay until December 2019. Jupiter, the planet of expansion, rules the same things associated with Sagittarius and therefore this combined with the current Mercury retrograde really amplifies the Sagittarian themes mentioned earlier in the article.

Mercury will be aligned with Jupiter on its retrograde path which indicates that certain things that play out over the next month will help to set the stage for what Jupiter will bring into our lives over the next year. This month can be a period of tremendous learning, and perhaps even revamping certain perspectives, and how to incorporate the ‘big picture’ in how we proceed following the retrograde.

Venus ended its retrograde less than half a day prior to Mercury going retrograde. For many people, the Venus related developments, issues, or reorientations that have come up in recent weeks might be connected to any adjustments Mercury will be facilitating.

Venus will be in its post-retrograde shadow period until mid-December which will be 11 days after Mercury ends its retrograde. As time progresses over the next month, there will be more forward momentum around Venus-ruled areas of relationships (romantically and socially), values, money, pleasures, or perhaps something to do with aesthetics.

Mercury Retrograde Timeline

*Below, are some of the dates and information for some of the major astrological configurations during this retrograde. However, I also regularly post about other astro energies happening on my social media via Instagram and Facebook, you can follow on those platforms for more forecast content.

Earlier dates are for those in the Western part of the world and later dates for those in the East.

Nov 16th/17thMercury begins its retrograde at 1:33 am Universal Time. The days surrounding this period are a time in which complications may be amplified, but you may also start to get a better sense of what these retrograde themes mean for you.

Nov 22nd/23rdFull Moon In Gemini. We may feel that we are being pulled in many directions and can get easily scattered and restless. There is a possibility of a clash, conflict, or competitiveness around of ideas and viewpoints. I will be doing a separate article on this Full Moon, join my mailing list here to be notified when it gets released.

Nov 25th-28th Mercury’s Inferior Conjunction, Mercury square Mars, Mercury/Sun Conjunct Jupiter, and Mars Sextile Saturn. This is that halfway point of Mercury retrograde and can be a period of increased insights yet complications can also be stronger at this time depending on how you are applying yourself. Ideas and thoughts that are seeded now may develop over the coming months. This can also be a period where we are more irritable, impulsive, and perhaps have some conflict in some cases. However this can also be a highly productive period if Mercury retrograde complications do not get in the way. This can be a very mind opening period, perhaps lucky and expansive. Considering the ‘big picture’ is a strong theme now.

Nov 30th – Dec 2nd Venus opposite Uranus, Mercury enters Scorpio while semi-sextile Venus, Mercury quincunx Uranus. Changes, disruptions, or surprises may come up at this time which may require some adjustments. This may affect relationships or financial matters, however, there is also a possibility of some exciting energy as well. Mercury shifting into Scorpio can help us think deeper or in an investigative way. Hidden matters connected to the past may come up.

Dec 3rd/4th – Mercury Trine Chiron and Lunar Nodes. There is a possibility for growth and healing at this time. There can be communications, connections or developments made which can benefit our future. Greater awareness of strengths and weaknesses can be beneficial for where we are headed.

Dec 6th/7th – Mercury Goes Direct in Late Scorpio with New Moon 10 hours later, Mars Conjunct Neptune. Mercury ends its retrograde and will slowly begin to move forward over the coming days. The areas of our lives that have been affected by this retrograde will start to become more clear and things will fall into place more easily. There will be a New Moon shortly afterwards which will help to kickstart new developments due to what has transpired.

New Moon In Sagittarius: Finding Your Truth

We are having a New Moon in Sagittarius on December 18 at 6:30am Universal Time which will work out to be late night of the 17th for those in the Americas. New Moons are the start of a new new lunar cycle bringing in a new wave of energy for the coming month.

Mercury is finishing up its retrograde this week which is also occurring in Sagittarius. It began on the Full Moon on December 3rd and will end on December 22nd/23rd. Mercury Retrograde periods are a time of making shifts and adjustments in certain areas of our lives. It is an opportunity to see things in a different way and gain some new awareness around something. It could be about taking a different approach to things that have already been put in place or attempted prior to this period.

It is important to pay attention to what the Universe has been trying to show through both triumphs and complications so that you can proceed forward in a recalibrated way. When the retrograde ends, and in the days following, we may experience increased clarity and a more defined approach to how we need to handle whatever area of our life this period has been influencing. Much of this will be connected to Sagittarius themes which will be explained below.

New Moon In Sagittarius Conjunct Saturn At The Galactic Center

This New Moon along with Mercury’s retrograde can be about working with Sagittarius energy in new ways and making changes to old approaches that don’t serve us anymore. It can be connected to our beliefs, philosophies, aspirations, travel, education, teaching, and the way we accumulate wisdom and experience.

The shadow expressions of Sagittarius in its shadow can also be opinionated, self-righteous, preachy, and behaving like a ‘know it all’ even when we may have a very limited perspective on a subject. This sign can also overdo, overextend, and take a fearless approach even when there are valid reasons to be cautious.

Both this New Moon and the beginning of Mercury’s retrograde have a conjunction with Saturn which could be about needing to be more realistic, disciplined, focused, cautious, conservative, and structured in how we express Sagittarian energies mentioned above. There could be a theme of ‘redefining’ how we work with areas associated with this sign and for some people this period could be about reworking Sagittarius aspects in career which can be related to marketing, publishing, sales, or any of the other areas already mentioned.

Another way this can manifest is that some people may have to take a serious look and consideration around what is their truth. If we have been dancing with different ‘truths or if we haven’t been living up to our truth, this can be a period in which re-align ourselves with where we truly stand.

Both this New Moon, Mercury retrograde, and Saturn are in contact with the Galactic Center, which is a part of the sky associated with higher consciousness. This can be about aligning ourselves with our highest truth and our connection to source.

Saturn Going Into Capricorn For Three Years

Saturn has been in Sagittarius for roughly the past three years and much of what this edition of Mercury retrograde is about is connected to what Saturn has been doing since then. Therefore, many of the themes written above (and in my Mercury retrograde article) have actually been playing out for a longer term, except now they are being highlighted very strongly as Mercury has been activating Saturn’s ‘last hurrah’ in this sign.

Less than 2 days after this New Moon, Saturn will enter Capricorn where it will stay until late 2020. It is the planetary the ruler of this sign and therefore it is like it is coming home. Capricorn is the sign of career, ambitions, business, social status, banking, and mastery. Along with Saturn, it is also associated with structures, responsibilities, caution, practicality, discipline, and consolidation.

Saturn travelling through this sign will be a period of ultimately redefining many of these things. In that process, it will disregard what is no longer working and put in place or solidify different approaches that are more sustainable in the long term.

The last time Saturn was in Capricorn was from February 1988 until February 1991. Similar themes of that period will be present during this period, except in different ways. Also, this edition of Saturn in Capricorn has the potential to have much more profound and deeper changes as Pluto is also travelling in this sign and has been there since 2008. In a previous article, I wrote about what Pluto in Capricorn could mean for the world and with Saturn joining in now, much of what I wrote about will be more apparent over the next three years.

Those who were born the last time Saturn was in Capricorn, specifically between February 14th 1988 and June 10th 1988, as well as between November 13th 1988 and February 6 1991, will be going through their first ‘Saturn Return’ over the next three years. This is something that everyone experiences in their late 20’s which is ultimately about reaching a new level of maturity.

For those born in those periods, these next three years are a time of increased responsibility, commitment, needing to be more disciplined and getting more real about life and life choices. This can happen through both challenging and restrictive circumstances, or in some cases in can also manifest as a result of our own choices that require us to apply ourselves in those ways.

Making Intentions And Things To Consider

What have your experiences and circumstances been trying to show you over the recent weeks? How can you apply yourself in a way that is more aligned with new realizations, beliefs, and perspectives you have been considering?  Which of your previous perspectives were inaccurate or no longer serving you? What do you need to do or manifest to help you make your visions and aspirations a reality? What is your truth?

These are just some examples of what your intentions can be oriented around, but they don’t need to be limited to them. The exact time of this New Moon will be at 6:30am Universal Time on December 18th. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone. It is best to make your intentions as close to the New Moon as possible and even up a half hour prior to when it occurs. If that is not possible, they can even be done within the first 24 hours following.

Mercury Retrograde In Sagittarius: Redefining Beliefs and Aspirations

Mercury began its latest edition of its retrograde process on December 3, which will last until December 22/23. In the weeks and especially days leading up to it, we start to notice its effects, as Mercury slows down and comes to a stop before moving the other way.

Mercury retrograde is famous for the problematic effects it often has on communication technology, transactions, motor vehicles, anything with moving parts, and commuting in general. We could experience some challenges, misunderstandings, and errors around our communications, numbers/details, and commerce, as well as changes, cancellations, or delays in our schedules. Although there is a higher probability of experiencing more of these problems during this time, they won’t necessarily apply to every situation. This may also be a period of reconnecting with old friends or family, or others you haven’t seen in a while.

The Deeper Purpose of Mercury Retrograde

Ultimately, Mercury Retrograde is a time for us to recalibrate our minds and certain areas of our lives. It is a period in which we may receive important insights and see things in a new light. During and following the retrograde, certain areas of our lives can go through changes or shifts, or we can experience a reorientation of some sort.

In the post-retrograde period, we move forward with some sort of new awareness and adjustment. Some people can even experience more significant transformations, depending on their natal astrology chart based on their exact birth time.

The things that you have been doing or putting into place in the two to three weeks leading up to this period could determine how and where this energy plays out. It is also possible that there could have been changes put in place then which may go through a sorting out process during this time. Perhaps in that period there could have been unknown variables, both positive and negative, that were either unseen or hadn’t been conceived yet, which may become apparent over the coming weeks.

The sign(s) and element(s) in which Mercury retrograde travels shows the energy we are reorienting ourselves with. Also, to go with that, if you are more familiar with your natal astrology chart, your house(s) or any planetary placements being affected will show more specifically what areas of life you will be experiencing its energy in. For the astrologically literate, it began at 29 degrees of Sagittarius and will retrograde all the way to 13 degrees of Sagittarius before turning forward again.

Mercury Retrogrades Currently Occurring in Fire Signs

Every year and a half roughly, it transitions from one element to another. We began transitioning from Earth to Fire since last winter’s Mercury retrograde. However, this marks the first of a series of three that will be completely in Fire signs for the next year, the others being in Aries and Leo.

Mercury retrograding in Earth signs prior to this has been a time in which many of us have had to learn to be more practical, organized, structured, productive, grounded, or in some cases, more attentive to our physical health in relation to nutrition or lifestyle. The transition from Earth to Fire over the last year has been shifting the focus toward re-calibrating ourselves around our passions, inspirations, and creativity, and potentially helping us to be more courageous, confident, assertive, and active.

Began With a Conjunction to Saturn Aligned With the Galactic Center

This Mercury Retrograde began near the Galactic Center in Sagittarius, which is where last year’s retrograde in December/January ended, although it travelled mostly in Capricorn at that time. This could suggest that for many people this period is about continuing, revisiting, or evolving an area of your life similar or related to what was happening then. Perhaps you are picking up where you left off and/or you are taking a new approach to something.

Astrologically, the Galactic Center has the potential to be a powerful source of inspiration and could trigger new awareness and levels of consciousness. It can be revolutionary or evolutionary, and contacts to this point can help to transmit ideas, intuitions, and perspectives that are beyond what we normally are able to perceive. It can also amplify the energies of the planet(s) travelling there and help to plant seeds associated with what the planet represents.

Mercury started its retrograde while in a conjunction with Saturn at the Galactic Center and also in aspect with Mars in Libra. This part of it was strongest up until December 6 but still has an influence throughout the retrograde. The alignment with the Galactic Center amplifies the energies of Mercury and Saturn.

As mentioned above, Mercury is associated with the mind, communication, writing, information, as well commerce and commuting. With Saturn, this can manifest as powerful focus and concentration around these Mercury related areas. It can also manifest as general Saturn themes related to structure, discipline, commitment, caution, responsibility, restraint, or needing to be realistic so that we can achieve tangible results.

Mars involved with this can help to push and give us some drive to apply ourselves toward something. This is also reflected in the fact that it will be going into Scorpio during this retrograde, where it expresses itself very strongly.

Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the sign of beliefs, opinions, perspectives, exploration, travel, and higher education. It is also associated with marketing, sales, publishing, and media. It is idealistic, philosophical, and expansive. This energy can also be judgemental, blunt, argumentative, and have a ‘know-it-all’ complex. These are some of the ways in which the Mercury retrograde-related developments or challenges can manifest to ultimately help us move forward in a new way during the post retrograde period after December 22.

Considering that Saturn is a big part of this too, there could be a theme of needing to get real about certain beliefs, revisiting belief structures, or addressing limitations in our perspectives or otherwise. This could also be about applying the Saturn energies toward other Sagittarian themes as mentioned already.

Journey of Mercury Retrograde

Dec 4  – Mercury retrograde began at 6:34am Universal Time

Dec 6 – Mercury conjunct Saturn, both sextile Mars (mentioned above)

Dec 9/10 Mercury Trine Uranus, square Chiron with Venus square Neptune. This period can be insightful, good ideas can come through, and potentially some nice surprises may arise as well. Issues surrounding our wounds and blockages can come up at this time as well. Venus is also square Neptune, in which there can be themes of idealism, illusion, fantasy, spiritual connection, oneness, or even confusion and deception around our relationships. Some of those themes may even apply to financial matters.

Dec 12/13 Mercury conjunct Sun. This marks the halfway point of Mercury retrograde and can be one of the most insightful periods and a powerful time of realizations. Some people may also experience more of the common Mercury retrograde complications during this time.

Dec 14/15 Mercury conjunct Venus. This can be a great time to reconnect with friends and loved ones, potentially in a new/different way, which can be expansive, explorative, and perhaps educational. Alternatively, this can help us to look at matters related to money or pleasure in a different way.

Dec 15 – 17 Mercury Trine North Node with Sun Trine Uranus. Communications, thoughts, connections, or events happening during this time could be related to consideration of our future and what we are working towards. There can be pleasant surprises, innovation, or new possibilities, or things can be unusual and even exciting.

Dec 22/23 Mercury Retrograde finishes and it goes stationary direct. At this time we begin to proceed forward with some adjustments, new awareness, or clarity based on what we have learned and what has transpired during the retrograde. You may notice part of this energy on this day, but as Mercury picks up speed in its forward motion over the coming weeks, things will get more defined and we can make progress in a different way.

Full Moon In Gemini: Contemplating Thoughts, Beliefs, And Aspirations

We are having a Full Moon in Gemini that will be exact on Sunday, December 3 at 3:47 p.m. Universal Time. It is a ‘supermoon’ which will appear fullest on the night of December 2 in the Americas and on the night of December 3 everywhere else. This marks the peak of the lunar cycle, which started on November 18 with a New Moon in Scorpio.

Full Moons are a time when we experience two opposing signs either at odds with each other or working collaboratively, in this case the Sun being in Sagittarius with the Moon in Gemini. We have been in Sagittarius season since November 21-22, and it’s a time in which we may feel more optimistic and expansive after coming out of the depths and complexity of the raw and real Scorpio season.

Sagittarius is the sign of beliefs, opinions, and big picture perspectives, as well as travel and higher education. It can be fearless and freedom loving, as well as overextending and overly idealistic. Gemini is an intellectual and clever sign associated with duality and communication, notable for considering views and information that is factual or in the immediate sphere.

While Sagittarius is the world at large, Gemini is the neighbourhood. Both signs are also associated with learning and knowledge, but Gemini comes from a place of curiosity, while Sagittarius wants to satisfy its thirst for an all-encompassing truth. During this Full Moon you may be experiencing these opposing energies manifesting within you, with your relationships, or around you.

Full Moon Square Neptune In a Trine with Jupiter

At the time of this Full Moon, Jupiter in Scorpio is in a trine with Neptune in Pisces, which has been building up in the days leading up and will still be influencing the days following. This energy is great for any spiritual, creative, or idealistic pursuits/experiences, or anything involving putting time, energy, or resources toward helping others in need. This can also manifest as developing deep spiritual connections or a feeling of oneness with others.

However, this Full Moon is in a challenging aspect with these two planets, as it is in a square with Neptune and quincunx to Jupiter. Neptune’s influence can bring confusion between ourselves and others, or between our outer and inner needs, in relation to the Gemini-Sagittarius opposition as mentioned above. This could also manifest as avoidance, escapism, or intoxicating behaviour.

This can also make some people feel less vital, and contribute to forgetfulness, flakiness, and poor attention to detail. Considering other factors, there can be delays, changes of plans, and miscommunication issues. Jupiter in Scorpio wants us to grow and learn by going deep and exploring what is beneath the surface which can be at odds with the broadminded Gemini energy.

Mercury Goes Retrograde Before Full Moon

Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, starts its retrograde in opposing Sagittarius just over eight hours before the exact moment of the Full Moon. Combined with Jupiter’s influence, this could potentially indicate a time of going over and making adjustments to our our beliefs, opinions, or worldly and educational interests. For some people, it could be related to anything involving publishing or marketing.

Mercury is in a conjunction with Saturn, which started in the week leading up to this period and will be strong throughout the following three days. However, it will still have an influence for more than a month, throughout the retrograde and in the weeks afterwards, until it joins Saturn again in Capricorn.

Mercury’s retrograde into Sagittarius over the following three weeks can help us to examine our long-term goals, aspirations, and passions, while its return to Saturn in Capricorn in January can be helpful for making them a reality. For some people, the Mercury-Saturn connection can bring a theme of needing to get real about something, or a need or urge to apply oneself with better mental focus. This can also emphasize the delays that regularly occur during Mercury retrograde, and can also bring some restrictiveness around communications.

Things to Consider During This Period

As this can be a time of potential confusion, we need to ask ourselves what it is that we truly want on a soul level. What challenges and adjustments do we need to adapt to in order to fulfill this? What is it about our understandings of the world that needs to be revisited? What is it that you really want to learn at this time?

These are just some examples of what could be coming up, but not limited to them either. This energy can manifest in other ways as well, and ultimately, it also depends on how it is interacting with your natal chart.

If you decide to use this energy to intentionally release something from your life, it is best to start that when the Moon starts to wane after the peak of the Full Moon, or even over the following two weeks. The exact moment of the peak will be at 3:47 p.m. Universal Time on December 3. You can click here to see what that is for your time zone.
