New Moon In Leo: Shake Ups & Realizations

We are having a New Moon in Leo on August 18th/19th, depending on where you are located in the world. It is initiating a 29.5-day Lunar cycle, however, the astrological configurations mentioned in this article will be more prominent over the following two weeks. This cycle will include a Full Moon in Pisces on September 1st/2nd.

The Sun entered its home sign of Leo on July 22nd and will be there until August 22nd. This New Moon will highlight its energy more so and extend some of its themes beyond its regular month long season. As a Fire sign, Leo is associated with passion, instinct, inspiration, assertiveness, courage, confidence, and spirit.

Ruled by the Sun, Leo is about shining authentically, leadership, creativity, vitality, and heart ‘centredness.’ Its energy is fun, playful, affectionate, generous, courageous, and romantic. It is associated with children, performing arts, sports, and self-expression. Expressed negatively, Leo energy can also be egotistical, conceited, dramatic, overbearing, stubborn, hot tempered, jealous, and demanding of attention or respect.

New Moon Conjunct Mercury, Trine Mars, and Quincunx Saturn

This New Moon is in a conjunction with Mercury (also in Leo) while in a trine with Mars in Aries. This combination is assertive, active, communicative, mentally stimulating, passionate, and initiating. This New Moon also occurs a day and a half after Mercury’s Superior Conjunction which is when it begins to travel ahead of the Sun.

At this point we can have more clarity around matters that have transpired in the last few months. There can be a change or some sort of progress in relation to what has been playing out.  It can even result in a beginning or ending due to increased certainty around certain circumstances.

Our minds can be more aligned with our true needs and we can better implement whatever we have been thinking about with greater confidence and direction. For some people, there could have been significant developments on August 16th – 18th that reflected that.

Although we may feel more active considering the connection with Mars in Aries during this lunation, it’s good to take into consideration that Mars is in its pre-retrograde shadow period. Some of what is happening will be connected to an adjustment and recalibration process in how we assert ourselves in specific areas of our lives over the coming months during the retrograde and post-retrograde period. I will be writing a separate article specifically on this, you can join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

This New Moon is in a tight quincunx with Saturn in Capricorn. This can reflect hindrances that require adjustments. Saturn here can represent limitations, restrictions, boundaries, or obstacles that are challenging to incorporate and need extra effort to adapt to. This energy was also configured to the previous Solar Eclipse and therefore is a part of the astrological backdrop until mid-Fall with this lunation highlighting it more so for these coming weeks.

Venus Sextile Uranus Which is Stationary Retrograde, Mars Square Saturn

Uranus went retrograde days before this New Moon and has been nearly stationary in recent weeks and into the upcoming weeks.  Whenever a planet is transitioning from one direction to another its energies become more noticeable. Uranus is associated with surprises, sudden changes, liberation, rebellion, science, technology, innovation, metaphysics, experimentation, accidents, upheaval, sudden disasters, or things breaking.

It will be retrograde until mid-January, and it’s possible that we will see some sort of conclusion or important development happen then connected to certain things playing out this month. However, the retrograde process itself isn’t as significant as the retrogrades of the closer planets (such as Mercury, Venus, and Mars) as Uranus is retrograde nearly half of the time which is the same for the other outer planets.

Venus in Cancer is in a supportive sextile with Uranus during this New Moon. This can be stimulating socially or romantically and can be good for doing unusual or unconventional activities. Our interactions with others can have positive surprises or interesting synchronicities. This combined with all the Leo energy can also be creatively inspiring. Aesthetic changes or renovations can be favorable and for some people this can also be a good time for financial developments or approaches that are unconventional, technological, metaphysical, or experimental.

Mars in Aries is moving towards a square with Saturn in Capricorn which will be strongest from August 21st-27th. This can be a time of frustrations and obstacles that can be getting in our way especially considering that Mars is slowing down to go retrograde next month. Our tasks may require extra patience and effort during this time. Aggressiveness could be met with resistance or the need to address anger issues may come up. This is a time of asserting ourselves in a more serious, cautious, or realistic way.

Lunar South Node Conjunct Galactic Center

The Lunar South Node is in an exact conjunction with the Galactic Center in Sagittarius at the time of this New Moon and in the following week. The South Node is about the past and can bring out negative qualities and energies of a sign, planet, or point that could be holding us back unless expressed in a way that collaborates with the opposing North Node.

The Lunar Nodes entered the Gemini-Sagittarius axis in May and will be there until January 2022. During this time, there is a push towards new expressions, or positive qualities, of Gemini while there is a need for changes around negative or outdated expressions of Sagittarius. There will be both collective and individual manifestations of this.

Gemini is associated with facts, information, intellect, communication, the immediate/local environment, different perspectives, and is a social sign. Sagittarius is about beliefs, philosophies, faith, religion, media, expansiveness, the big picture, higher education, teachers/gurus, travel, and international factors.

With the South Node in Sagittarius we need to be cautious of the negative potentials of this sign being expressed such as opinions over facts, idealism over reality, generalizations over specifics, as well as self-righteousness, exaggeration, and judgmental behavior. These are some of the themes of the astrological backdrop for the next year and half.

Now considering that the South Node is currently aligned with the Galactic Center, the most significant point in the sign (and constellation) of Sagittarius, we should take that into consideration for the month of August.

The Galactic Center signifies many of the Sagittarius themes mentioned yet in a more intense way. It is associated with higher consciousness and centralized aspects of society. The South Node here can highlight negative or faulty expressions of these things. Its energy can bring challenges, pressures, destructiveness and chaos in order to change what is outdated.

Making Intentions & Things To Consider

What realizations or developments have come up for you in recent days and how do they tie in with what has been playing out over the last few months? What are some potential solutions to help you tackle obstacles, limitations, or responsibilities that you are being faced with? Do you need to be more flexible, adaptable, cautious, or patient? Should you liberate yourself from something that is getting in the way of some of your goals? What areas of your life are calling for more of a heart centered or playful approach?  How can you express your individuality more authentically? Are your unwavering opinions or beliefs getting in the way of seeing things from different perspectives?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time. However, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment it will occur is 2:42am Universal Time on August 19th which will be the night of the 18th for those in the Americas. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Lunar Eclipse In Cancer: Navigating Heaviness

We are having a Lunar Eclipse in Cancer on January 10th  peaking at 7:10pm Universal Time which will be on the 11th in the East. It will be visible (weather permitting) wherever it will be night time when it is occuring. This includes all of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and parts of New Zealand.

Most of the American continents will not be able to see it with the exception of Greenland, the Maritimes, parts of Quebec, parts of Maine, Northern Canada, Alaska, the Eastern tip of Brazil. However, this is a penumbral eclipse which is the least noticeable type as the Moon will have a slight shade which will subtly dim its brightness.

As mentioned in my previous articles, the current series of Eclipses are in the Cancer-Capricorn axis as we are experiencing evolutionary changes associated with these signs. This series slightly began in mid-2018 as the eclipses were beginning to transition out of Leo-Aquarius, however they became exclusive to Cancer/Capricorn in early 2019 and will conclude later this year.

This one follows a Solar Eclipse in Capricorn at the previous New Moon that occurred on December 25th/26th. You can read more about it here. The energies of these specific back to back lunation’s will have influence over the following 6 months which may have begun in the 6 weeks leading up to them

Lunar Eclipse In Cancer

This eclipse is a Full Moon in Cancer near the North Node. This indicates changes and developments associated with this sign that have an increasing effect on how its energies are expressed. It opposes the Sun in Capricorn near the South Node which reflects shifts that have a decreasing effect on how that sign is expressing itself.

Cancer belongs to the water element which is associated with emotion, intuition, instinct, and feeling. Ruled by the Moon, this sign specifically is associated with the home, family, caring, nurturing, motherly energy, security, vulnerability, and bonding. It is sentimental, comfort seeking, protective and nostalgic. Negatively, it can be overly emotional, smothering, clingy, too subjective, insecure, and attached to the past.

Capricorn belongs to the earth element which is practical, sensual, enduring, and physically oriented. It is associated with ambitions, career, achievement, orderliness, productivity, authority, governance, duty, and business. Capricorn is structured, disciplined, prudent, and responsible. Negatively, it can be too serious, stubborn, material focused, callous, overly concerned with social status, and highly controlling.

Having the lunar nodes and eclipses highlighting these signs could reflect adjustments in how we incorporate their themes in our lives. Circumstances that have been playing out in the last year and into this year can push us towards some sort of re-orientation between the polarity of Cancer and Capricorn. Shifts in work-life balance, emotional matters over material matters, security over status, wellbeing over productivity, are some examples of how this can be playing out.

Lunar Eclipse Opposing Saturn-Pluto Conjunction Joined By Sun, Mercury

The Sun and Mercury are joining the Saturn-Pluto Conjunction in Capricorn which are all opposing the eclipsed Moon. On its own, the meeting of Saturn and Pluto is the most significant planetary aspect of 2020 and in recent years. This current conjunction has been gradually building up in the previous months and it peaks in the weeks before and after this eclipse with the exact alignment happening on January 12th.

The combined energy of Saturn and Pluto can be heavy, serious, and can bring about some major challenges depending on how it is interacting with your natal chart. Saturn is also the ruler of Capricorn and this aspect can reinforce some of the eclipse related shifts connected to that sign.

At best, this configuration can have a purging, transformative, or deepening effect on structures, responsibilities, and duties. It can also be a time to address fears, obsession, jealousy, compulsiveness, trauma, or shadows. Issues around power, control, limitations, boundaries, debt, sexuality, abuse, hidden matters, death, or manipulation may also play out.

Circumstances, developments, and thoughts that come up may be calling upon us to get real about an area of our life. For those into personal development, this can help to push us towards a necessary evolutionary change or perhaps an ending to something to help us in future growth.

This eclipse highlights these Saturn-Pluto themes into first 3-6 months of 2020. However it will likely be experienced the strongest from January 9th-14th when it is exact and also joined by the Sun and Mercury.

The Saturn-Pluto Effect on Geopolitical and Collective Matters

On a geopolitical and collective level, whenever outer planets like Saturn and Pluto meet there is the potential for major developments and events in which important things are established, seeded, or concluded. It can also reflect conflicts that can contribute to a collective evolutionary process. The reason for this significance is because it is a transition of one long term cycle to another.

The last time Saturn and Pluto aligned was in November 1982 in Libra and this current period we are in now marks the ending of a Saturn-Pluto cycle that began then. Therefore there is a transition in what areas this combination of energies is being expressed. That cycle that is closing up now had a collective impact on how we approach relationships, marriage, equality, diplomacy, and other Libra related areas over a span of 37+ years. The challenges reflected by these planets contributed (directly or indirectly) to that process during the different phases of the cycle.

The transition period into the new cycle began in late 2014 and it is directly affecting Capricorn areas of ambitions, career, productivity, business, government/governance, banking structures, and a redefinining of how power and status is expressed.

A great recent example of how this is playing out is the changing dynamics of the British Royal family on how that can affect their role as head of state (for Commonwealth countries) in the decades to come. The current political landscape in the US and around the world is also seeding a process that will play out throughout this cycle.

Also in recent news, this Saturn-Pluto energy (combined with Uranus stationary, mentioned below) reflects the assassination of a major Iranian political figure a week prior to this eclipse. This conflict (whether or not it escalates) will contribute to the changes reflected in this new cycle but also can be closing up certain themes pertaining Middle Eastern tension of the previous decades.

Uranus Going Direct

During this Eclipse, Uranus is stopped in the sky as it is in the process of changing motion from our perspective here on Earth. It is ending its retrograde literally hours later. At this time, and in the weeks before and after, Uranus themes can be coming up strongly. It’s possible that some of the themes coming up now may be connected to thoughts, feelings, or circumstances that were happening last August or in April/May 2019.

There can be some surprises, liberating actions, or beginning to move forward in a freeing, innovative, unique, or unconventional way. This can also manifest as shake ups, disruptions, separation, accidents, or rebellion. Important developments pertaining to new technology or innovation can also play out. It is common to see more disasters in the news during these stationary periods, whether they are naturally occurring or man made.

Mercury Superior Conjunction

Mercury is joining the Sun on the day of this Eclipse in what is called a ‘Superior Conjunction’. This aspect will also be aligned with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction (mentioned above) which accentuates the significance of this overall planetary configuration.

This is a period in which we may experience more clarity and potential developments connected some of the themes that have been playing out in the last 1.5 months since Mercury’s previous retrograde has ended.

Ideas, situations, or other things that were seeded in November may have further developments or circumstances come up. We may experience a change or some sort of progress. It can even result in a beginning or ending due to increased certainty around a situation..

In comparison to these last few months, our minds can become more aligned with our true needs and self-expression from this period forward until mid-late February. We can better implement whatever we have been thinking about with greater confidence and direction. However, due to the Saturn-Pluto conjunction, this energy can also have longer term implications in connection to the themes of the combined energy of those planets.

Jupiter Conjunct The Lunar South Node

Jupiter is aligned with the South Node of the Moon which highlights some of the themes of the previous Solar Eclipse. This can reflect changes and shedding connected to negative expressions of Jupiter which can include excessiveness, overconfidence, extremism,  dogmatic opinions/behavior, provocation, blind optimism, extravagance, wastefulness, judging others, gambling and speculative pursuits, inflationary actions, or behavior that disregards consequences.

Jupiter also rules beliefs, morals, education, aspirations, travel, foreign countries, publishing, as well as media and marketing and perhaps it can affect those things as well. Jupiter is naturally expansive and idealistic, however, considering it is aligned with the South Node in Saturn ruled Capricorn as well as the occurrence of the Mercury-Sun-Saturn-Pluto conjunction configured with the Cancerian Lunar Eclipse, this is a time to be realistic, cautious, take things more seriously, and focus on what is important in consideration of your emotional well being.

Things To Consider

What has transpired for you in recent weeks in regards to your feelings and circumstances that have been playing out? What has the Universe shown you to help you in decisions that you need to make? What area of your life requires you to take a more serious approach? What do you need to do to achieve a more fulfilling work-life balance? Do you need to reconsider your ambitions? What is important for your emotional well-being? Do you need address anything pertaining to personal shadows, power dynamics, trauma, fears, debt, sexuality, or boundaries? In what areas of your life have you been too excessive?

These are just some examples of the themes that can be playing out for you. It is best to try to tune into this energy and pay attention to your feelings to help you in decisions you need to make. The two weeks following this eclipse can be a good time to initiate any sort of releasing process. The eclipse begins at 5:08pm Universal Time on January 10th with it peaking at 7:10pm and finishing at 9:12pm. The Moon begins to wane after 7:21pm. Full Moon In Gemini: Learning, Healing, & Inspired Action

We are having a Full Moon in Gemini on December 11th-12th, depending on your location. This is the peak of the Lunar cycle that began with a New Moon in Sagittarius on November 26th. The energies of the Full Moon are strongest in the days surrounding it yet its astrological configurations still play a part over the following two weeks. You may also start to see its themes build up following the New Moon prior to it.

Interestingly this Full Moon occurs on 12/12 for most of the world and at 12:12am in the EST time zone. This can be interpreted in different ways, however, the thing that I would like to point out is that 12 is associated with completion and astrologically with Pisces which is the final and 12th sign.

This is not only the last Full Moon (and complete lunar cycle) of the year but the last one of the decade. In the Universal time zone it will be occurring at 5:12am, with the number being associated with change. This Full Moon will be followed by eclipses that are ushering in the new decade which also fits with this 5-12 energy.

Full Moon’s are a period in which we feel a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case being the Moon in Gemini and Sun in Sagittarius. It can play out as either a conflict, integration, or some sort of dynamic playing out between the energies of both signs.

We can feel this opposition happening individually within us and/or we can also experience it play out around us with some people (or circumstances) expressing the Sagittarius side and others expressing the Gemini side. In some cases, Full Moon’s can also reflect/trigger some sort of change which may apply more in this case when considering some of the other factors mentioned in this article.

Gemini is a Mercury ruled Air sign with a strong mental orientation. It is communicative, articulate, informative, social, inquisitive, clever, multifaceted, versatile, witty, agile, and dualistic. This sign is also associated with the immediate environment, the neighbourhood, siblings, commuting, reading, audiobooks/podcasts, mail, and writing. Negatively, Gemini energy can be scattered, superficial, gossipy, inconsistent, two faced, and lack emotion.

Sagittarius is a Jupiter ruled Fire sign motivated by passion, exploration, and beliefs. It is broadminded, freedom loving, philosophical, optimistic, visionary, expansive, aspiring, risk taking, and big picture oriented. This sign is also associated with higher education, media, sales/marketing, religion, morals,  travel, foreign lands, and other international matters or pursuits. Negatively, Sagittarius energy can be unrealistic, pretentious, judgemental, excessive, blunt, preachy, and have a hard time comprehending limitations.

Both of these signs within this polarity are about learning and communicating what they know. The difference between them is that Gemini leans more towards sharing/learning knowledge from a variety of sources while Sagittarius leans more towards developing its own perspective based on the synthesis of what has been learned and experienced. Gemini can also be more factual in comparison to the idealistic Sagittarian energy.

Full Moon Square Neptune & Quincunx Venus-Saturn-Pluto Conjunction

This Full Moon is separating from a square with Neptune which is strongest in the day leading up to it. This can be good for creative, spiritual, compassionate activities especially if they are linked  to the Gemini-Sagittarius themes mentioned above. However, this can also reflect confusion, impracticality, delusion, escapism, and unreliability.

Venus is separating from a tight conjunction with Saturn and moving towards Pluto at the time of this Full Moon. In the days leading up to this, there could have been more serious or restrictive energy around Venus ruled areas of love, friendship, money, values, or pleasures.

Perhaps a need to be more disciplined, responsible, committed, restraining, or realistic could be a theme. Obstacles, limitations, cautiousness, or endings may have also come up. This can be good for stabilizing, solidifying, building, or taking a mature approach towards things pertaining to Venus.

Pluto in the mix can add more heaviness to this energy. However, Venus makes its conjunction to Pluto in the following two days, after its interaction with Saturn. The themes mentioned above may be followed by or combined with intensity, passion, obsession, secrets, empowerment, evolution, transformation, or even some sort of purging and release. This can also be a period of revealing or getting clear around Venus issues.

This Full Moon is in a quincunx aspect to this Saturn-Venus-Pluto conjunction. This can create a disconnect between these issues (mentioned in the last two paragraphs) and our feelings or other things going on in our lives. This can also reflect challenges and irritations which may  require adjustments.

Jupiter Newly in Capricorn Trine Uranus in Taurus

On December 2nd, Jupiter entered Capricorn and will stay there for the next year. It joins Saturn, Pluto, and the South Node in which it will be making conjunctions within 2020. Overall, Jupiter in this sign connecting to these planets can be good for different types of growth around worldly goals, ambitions, structures, and towards building anything with the long term in mind. It can also bring some endings around these things as well.

Jupiter forms a trine with Uranus in Taurus which is strongest from this Full Moon until the following week with it peaking on December 15th. This can be good for learning or expansiveness towards something new, unusual, unconventional, technological, metaphysical, scientific, or perhaps even revolutionary.

It can also be connected to beliefs, travel, and other types of exploration. For some people it can manifest as sudden luck or bring some sort of freedom. Considering that this aspect is occurring in Earth signs, it can play out around material, physical, financial, or practical matters.

Mars Trine Neptune, Sextile Saturn, Pluto

Mars in Scorpio is in a trine with Neptune in Pisces in the day leading up to, and few days following, this Full Moon. This can reflect actions that are inspired, creative, spiritual, imaginative, or compassionate. Activities or efforts involving art or water may also be a theme. For some people it can be magical on a sexual level, however this also depends on how the Venus-Saturn-Pluto aspect (mentioned earlier) is playing out which can bring some heaviness to relationships in some cases.

Mars then moves towards a sextile to Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn which peaks from December 17th to 23rd. This is good for applying ourselves in a way that is practical, realistic, responsible, thorough, stable, focused, tangible, or purposeful. Efforts towards bringing more structure or building towards something may be a theme. This can help us to be more focused, overcome obstacles, making productive changes, and uncovering things to assist us in making progress.

Eclipse Season is Approaching with Neptune, Chiron, and Uranus in Transition

In the two weeks after this Full Moon we will have a Solar Eclipse in Capricorn on December 25th/26th followed by a Lunar Eclipse in Cancer on January 10th/11th. Neptune recently ended its retrograde, Uranus finishes its retrograde in a month, while Chiron is transitioning out of retrograde at the time of this Full Moon.

All of this combined shows that the period from mid-November until mid-January is a time of transitions, changes, and new developments. Eclipses can reflect beginnings, endings, and even evolutionary developments in specific areas of our lives that can begin to play out in the six weeks prior up until the six months following. (I will be writing separate articles on these eclipse, join my mailing list here to ensure that you are notified when they are published)

Planets, and other celestial bodies like Chiron, going from retrograde to direct can help us progress forward in new ways in areas connected to what they represent and how they are interacting with our personal astrology charts. I covered Neptune going direct in my previous article and will be covering Uranus going direct in an upcoming eclipse article. However, the most significant one at this point is Chiron as it is transitioning during this Full Moon phase. Its themes will be coming up more strongly.

Chiron is associated with old wounds, trauma, blockages, negative patterns, and other issues getting in the way of our potential, self-expression, and the embodiment of our highest selves. It is also associated with the solutions to our healing, awareness, and achieving wholeness.

It is about developing a different relationship with our wounds by turning them into strengths or working with them in a more positive way. Chiron is the maverick, it is unorthodox, holistic, and can bridge things together that are normally separate and are not thought to be compatible with each other.

Things To Consider During This Period

Is there anything new or different that you’d like to learn at this time? What have you been inspired to do in the last few weeks? Do you need to take into consideration certain facts, instructions, or details in order to fulfill your aspirations?

What has been coming up for you in regards to Venus issues of love, friendships, values, creativity, aesthetics, money, and pleasures? Do you need to address anything pertaining to these things? Have any issues or themes connected to your wounds or negative patterns come up? What do you need to do to heal/address this and move forward in a more empowered way?

These are just some examples of what you may be experiencing during this period; however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out. If you wish to do any sort of intentional release connected to what has come up it is best to do so anytime after the peak of the Full Moon or as it is waning over the following two weeks. The exact moment of it will be on December 12th at 5:12am Universal Time. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Full Moon In Aquarius: Pleasure & Originality

We are having a Full Moon in Aquarius which is exact on August 15th at 12:29 pm, Universal Time. It will appear the fullest on the night of August 14th in the Americas and on the night of 15th everywhere else.

This is the peak of the Lunar cycle which began two weeks prior with a New Moon in Leo. The energies of it build up as the Moon increases its light and are strongest in the days before and after. However, it will still be a part of the backdrop over the following two weeks.

Full Moon’s are a period in which we feel a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case being the Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius. It can reflect either a conflict or integration of both signs. We can feel this opposition happening individually within us and/or we can also experience it play out around us with some people (or circumstances) expressing the Leo side and others expressing the Aquarius side.

Leo is associated with self-expression, creativity, love, affection, children, courage, vitality, passion, leadership, generosity, and playfulness. Ruled by the Sun, it is also about shining in our power and being in alignment with what really lights us up and gets us excited.

The negative expressions of Leo can be egotistical, self-absorbed, authoritarian, dramatic, stubborn, jealous, and hot-tempered.  As it is associated with seeking praise and attention, it can be demanding of respect and be too loud and boisterous without considering or caring about how others respond to that.

The best way to approach Leo energy in a positive way is to be in our authentic and heart centred version of ourselves; whether it be in our creations, how we perform, or how we express other Leo traits previously mentioned. When we do this, we are more likely to receive a supportive response from those on the receiving end.

Aquarius is associated with friends, social networks, the group, the team, humanity, and being in the best interest of the collective. Associated with Uranus, it can be unconventional, idealistic, innovative, original, inventive, technological, reforming, and even revolutionary. It tries to figure out how to do things in a better way and takes the future into consideration. Although it is idealistic, it still applies itself intellectually and rationally yet can also be theoretical at times.

Negatively, Aquarius can be overly detached, aloof, unemotional, and very invested in the mind at the expense of the heart. Traditionally ruled by Saturn, it can also be unyielding when it comes to the ideas and perspectives that it has already decided on.

Aquarius is also associated with science which negatively is reflected by Saturn as it is limited to the material world, yet reflected positively by the innovativeness of Uranus. Furthermore, other Uranian expressions of Aquarius can be of a higher level of consciousness which can go beyond the limitations of only observing the physical aspects of reality, and integrating the spiritual as well.

Both Leo and Aquarius have some similarities. They are ‘Fixed’ signs and therefore can both be determined yet stubborn. They are also both associated with originality and authenticity. In Aquarius, this comes from its unconventional and innovative Uranian attributes while in Leo it comes from being inspired by its heart centred self-expression.

Full Moon Opposing Venus Superior Conjunction In a Quincunx With Pluto

At the time of this Full Moon, Venus is closely aligned with the Sun in Leo from our Earth-based perspective which is known as its ‘Superior Conjunction’ lasting from August 10th-17th. This is when the Earth and Venus are on opposite sides of the Sun.

This is a period in which we may experience important developments connected to Venus ruled areas (love, relationships, friendships, values, finances, worth, creativity, aesthetics). This is sort of like the beginning of a new Venus cycle in which it will be travelling ahead of the Sun until Spring 2020.

However, another way to look at it is that this period can bring more clarity and forward momentum around things connected to what was going on in the Fall of 2018 and building up since then. Venus last joined the Sun from our vantage point in late October when it was retrograde in its ‘Inferior Conjunction’. This was when the Earth and Venus were on the same side of the Sun. .

At that time something may have been seeded or we could have been doing something that may have had a direct or indirect connection to how things are playing out at this point. It can be associated with Venus ruled areas but it could also have something to do with other aspects of your life, triggered by its previous retrograde last Fall.

Due to the Full Moon being in an opposition with this conjunction, it’s also possible that the push-pull energy of the Leo-Aquarius polarity (mentioned above) can have something to do with Venus themes of values, love, relationships, friendships, finances, worth, self-worth, creativity, or aesthetics.

The Sun/Venus conjunction is in a quincunx aspect with Pluto in Capricorn. This can bring in frustrations and/or needed adjustments connected to fears, power, control issues, obsessions, hidden matters, shadow qualities, repressed feelings, sex, desires, structures, and ambitions to any developments connected to the Superior Conjunction of Venus. For many people, this may also be associated with the themes of last Lunar Eclipse.

Mercury Trine Chiron and Square Uranus

Less than seven hours before this Full Moon, Mercury (which has returned to Leo) ended its post shadow period of its previous retrograde that occurred throughout July. In the last few weeks things may have started to flow more smoothly and we could have experienced some resolutions and clarity around any challenges or issues that came up in the month prior. We may feel things moving forward and could also experience further developments related to this in early September.

During this Full Moon and in the day following, Mercury is in a trine with Chiron and square with Uranus, which has recently begun its retrograde. Our thoughts, communications, or other developments can be healing, holistic, spiritually oriented, unconventional, unique, awakening, and insightful. We can be more inventive, tap into new and original ideas, or bridge different things that don’t normally come together.

This energy can also be a bit unstable, impulsive, or we can be mentally scattered depending on how we apply ourselves. We can experience disruptions, surprises, changes in our plans and routines, or a disconnect in communications. Considering that Uranus is nearly stopped in the sky as it begins its retrograde, its energies are amplified right now. This can also reflect more extreme manifestations of its energy such as rebellion, separation, or even accidents in rare cases.

Mercury Trine Jupiter, Venus Conjunct Mars While Moving Towards Trine With Uranus

From August 20th-21st, Mercury will be in a trine with Jupiter in Sagittarius which has recently ended its retrograde and  is now moving forward. This can be good for learning, expansive communications or thoughts, travel plans, positive thinking, and optimism. We may want to seek the big picture, beliefs, perspectives, and meaning. For some people this can be lucky and there is a higher probability that things going on at this time can go very well.

Venus joins Mars from August 23rd-25th. This can be great for romantic, social, or creative activities. It can stimulate passion and sexuality. We may seek pleasure at this time yet we can also be impulsive about it. It can be good for anything that involves female and male energy coming together. Considering that this conjunction is occurring in Virgo, it can also be good for any type of actions or work that involve beautifying anything or even cleaning and organizing.

Both of these planets are also moving towards a trine with Uranus which is strongest over the following week. Venus makes its contact with it from August 25th to 26th which can bring an exciting, surprising, or stimulating energy around our relations and finances.

It can also be be good to participate in something fun that is different or new to us. For some people it can reflect creative undertakings especially if it involves technology. Making aesthetic changes in some way can also be ideal as well.

Mars’ trine with Uranus is strongest from August 27th-29th. This is good for any sort of actions that are unusual, experimental, liberating, progressive, technological, or independent. We may want to do something that involves making positive change.

Things To Consider At This Time

What has come up for you in the last week around values, relationships, love, friendships, finances, pleasures, creativity, worth, or aesthetics? How should you proceed forward based on these developments or realizations?

How can you balance your personal passions with the needs of the collective? How can you resolve any conflicts between leadership and a team or group? Are you experiencing any challenges or conflict between your heart and intellect? What is your gut telling you? What signs are you getting from the Universe?

What can you do to be more innovative, original, or progressive? What areas of your life are calling for growth, expansion, exploration, meaning, or better understanding? Is there anything that you feel you should be doing to help you feel more free?

Do you have fears, repressed/deep feelings, shadow qualities, or obsessions that are creating obstacles or complications? If so, how should you handle it? Do you need to release or unravel anything to help you feel better, heal, or bring more joy into your life?

These are just some examples of themes that could come up during this period; however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out as well.  If you wish to do any sort of intentional release connected to what has come up at this Full Moon, it is best to do so anytime after the peak of the Full Moon when it begins to wane until the next New Moon in two weeks. The exact moment of this Full Moon is on August 15th at 12:29pm Universal Time. You can click here to so what that is in your time zone.

New Moon In Leo: Love & Passion

We are having a New Moon in Leo on July 31st-August 1st, depending on where you are located in the world. It is initiating a 29.5-day Lunar cycle and a new wave of energy for the coming month; however, the astrological configurations mentioned in this article will be more prominent over the following two weeks. This cycle will include a Full Moon in Aquarius on August 15th.

Mercury ends its retrograde less than an hour after the exact time of this New Moon, although this period when it changes motion can still feel like a retrograde via complications and/or by receiving important insights. As Mercury slowly picks up speed over the following days and into the next two weeks, there will be more of a forward momentum connected to some of the issues, insights, or other developments that have come up in the month prior.

This Moon cycle also follows Eclipse season so keep in mind that the energies of the previous eclipses are still influencing this period and the coming months, although for many people they could have been felt more strongly during July. You can read more about the previous Eclipses and Mercury Retrograde here.

We have been in Leo season since July 22nd/23rd; however, this New Moon will bring forth its energy even more so. As a Fire sign, it is associated with passion, instinct, inspiration, assertiveness, courage, confidence, and spirit.

In its positive expression, Leo is about heart centredness, creativity, affection, generosity, influence, and shining authentically. It is the performer, the leader and the creator, and it seeks to find joy in expressing itself in those ways. It is about vitality and also rules children, fun, and romance. Expressed negatively, Leo energy can also be egotistical, conceited, dramatic, overbearing, and demanding of attention or respect.

New Moon Conjunct Venus, Aspecting Chiron & Uranus

This New Moon is next to Venus, which is in a tight trine to Chiron and square to Uranus and is strongest from July 31st to August 2nd. This can reflect healing energy around Venus themes of love, relationships, values, finances, or feminine energy. However, it can also be a period of instability, separation, surprises, or rebellion in these areas or perhaps in social situations and anything connected to fun and pleasure.

This can also be a good time to make new connections or try new things that could be enjoyable for us. For some people this can reflect making aesthetic changes to something; however, we need to be cautious of not being impulsive around this or spending resources.

Venus will be closely aligned with the Sun in Leo from August 10th to 17th. This is known as its ‘Superior Conjunction,’ which peaks from August 13th-14th. It is a period in which some people experience important developments connected to Venus ruled areas (love, relationships, friendships, values, finances, aesthetics). This is sort of like the beginning of a new Venus cycle in which it will be travelling ahead of the Sun until Spring 2020.

However, another way to look at it is that this period can bring more clarity and forward momentum around Venus themes that have been put into place sometime between the Fall of 2018 and now. Venus last joined the Sun in late October when it was retrograde. At that time something may have been seeded that could have a direct or indirect connection to how things are playing out at this point or how you view aspects of your life pertaining to Venus.

Jupiter In Aspect With Venus & The Sun Before Going Direct, Uranus Going Retrograde

Jupiter is slowing down to end its current retrograde on August 11th, which began in April. As it changes motion, we may begin to have more clarity or experience developments around Jupiter themes that were strong in April. This can be connected to beliefs, philosophies, faith, travel, education, exploration, media, marketing, or anything that is expansive.

Another thing to consider is that Venus and the Sun in Leo will be in a trine with Jupiter from August 6th to 9th as it is getting close to transitioning forward. This can trigger some of this energy, and we may also feel hopeful and optimistic at this time. For some people this period can be a bit lucky as well. From August 8th – 9th, it can be more beneficial socially, romantically, financially, or toward anything that is fun.

In almost fourteen hours after Jupiter ends its retrograde, Uranus will begin its own retrograde, which will last until January. In the weeks surrounding this date, Uranus energies will be strong and can potentially shake things up in a specific area of your life. Themes connected to freedom, liberation, originality, technology, innovation, renovation, and new experiences may come up. However, it can also be disruptive, separative, or bring forth surprises.

Making Intentions and Things To Consider

With Mercury Retrograde ending around the same time as this New Moon, it can feel like a significant shift in energy with certain aspects of our lives beginning to move forward in a revised way. What has come up for you in the last month and what have you learned from your experiences? How should you proceed based on what has transpired? What areas of your life are calling for a more heart centred or nurturing approach? How can you better tap into your creativity or shine in your authentic self-expression?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time; however, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment of it will be occurring at 3:12am Universal Time on the night of July 31st-August 1st. Lunar Eclipse In Aquarius: Making Changes And Considering The Big Picture

We are having a Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius on August 7th/8th depending on where you are located in the world. It will be visible in most of Europe, Asia, Australia, and most of Africa. Its peak will be at 6:20pm Universal time, but will start just under an hour and finish an hour later. You can click here to find out what that will be in your time zone.

This is a partial eclipse where roughly a 5th of the Full Moon’s light will be blocked when it reaches its peak. The penumbral phase of the eclipse will start roughly 2.5 hours before which is when there is a slight shading on the Moon. This eclipse will also be slightly visible as a penumbral eclipse in the East coast of Brazil and in the parts of Europe where the darker eclipse is not visible, which includes the UK, Ireland, Portugal, and parts of Spain and France.

Eclipses represent changes and shifts in certain areas of our lives and they usually occur in pairs with a Solar Eclipse occurring at the New Moon before or after. Their influence can start weeks or months before, and also set the tone for the following six months until the next series of eclipses. The influence of eclipse season can be symbolic of turning a page, or even starting a new chapter, in the story of our life. Much of how the eclipse will influence you specifically depends on how it is interacting with your natal astrology chart.

Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius Opposite Sun and North Node in Leo

This series of eclipses is happening in the Aquarius – Leo axis with the upcoming Solar Eclipse occurring in Leo. Eclipses always occur near one of the two lunar nodes which is the intersection of the path of Moon and the pathway of the Sun from our perspective. This one will be occurring near the ‘South Node’ which is associated with the past and certain aspects of this energy that can be holding us back.

Considering that it is a Lunar Eclipse, it could call for some sort of changes or endings which could occur at this time and/or over the coming months. However, some of these themes will continue to play out until late 2018 as we will be having more eclipses in this sign following this one.

Aquarius is the sign of friends, the group, the team, and the collective. It is intellectual, scientific, yet broad minded. Aquarius is progressive, socially idealistic, and overall more concerned with the interests of humanity. Although we may experience some positive new developments in relation to this energy, ultimately this is a South Node Lunar Eclipse which is about making changes or and in some cases even endings to things related to this that could also be holding us back.

In the case of this Leo-Aquarius nodal polarity, we could be avoiding our heart’s desires because we are too much in our heads. We can be operating more intellectually and not operating enough from a creative or self-expressive side. We can also be too caught up in a group/collective effort that can be getting in the way of how we shine as individuals.

These are some examples of themes that could of started already playing out leading up to this. The energies of this eclipse will reflect the necessary changes that could be made over the coming weeks and even into the coming months.

Lunar Eclipse Trine Jupiter and Sextile Saturn, Jupiter Square Pluto

This eclipse’s trine to Jupiter in Libra does offer some expansive energy in our relationships and partnerships. Aside from the potential endings mentioned above, this can still include friendships as well.

When considering this aspect combined with a supporting sextile to Saturn in Sagittarius, it can help us to look at the ‘big picture’. This combination even involves anything to do with travel, foreign countries, education, teaching, marketing, publishing, or anything to do with reaching an audience. There may also be a theme of some sort of growth related to bringing in harmony, balance, truth, lawfulness, morals, or fairness.

Jupiter is also finishing its final square with Pluto which initially started in November and was also strong in early spring. Jupiter is the planet of  beliefs, truth, ideals, overdoing, overindulging, opinions, expansion, and freedom. In a square with Pluto, those things could of been connected to obsessions, tensions, fears, manipulation, jealousy, or issues around resources, sex, and power. Pluto can even bring up the deeper and darker aspects of ‘truth’ as well.

In our personal lives, the potential negative manifestations were more likely to occur late last year and earlier this year, yet they can still play out during this time. However, now that it has been concluding, there is more potential for resolutions, transformations, and/or moving beyond those types of challenges that have come up. This energy can also be great for pushing us to accomplish more, although we may still get scattered and have to deal with some challenges.

Mercury Going Retrograde Soon, Uranus Recently Went Stationary Retrograde

Mercury is slowing down to go retrograde on August 12th lasting until September 5th.  This emphasizes adjustments being made and a time of insights to help to facilitate the shifts that are occurring in relation to the eclipses. Although we may face challenges in the coming weeks, it would be wise to pay attention to your inner voice of what the Universe is trying to show you to help you in how to eventually proceed forward post retrograde.

Uranus in Aries went retrograde on August 3rd but has been slowing down over the last month. As one of the ‘outer’ planets, whenever it goes retrograde it lasts for almost half a year, in this case until January 2nd. Therefore, its retrograde isn’t as significantly noticeable as the closer ‘personal’ planets such as Mercury, Venus, and Mars. ?

The transitional period in which it changes is when we may notice its energies the most and any potential disruptive effects. In this case this could of started in the previous weeks and into the upcoming weeks as it appears almost still in the sky which is referred to as a ‘stationary’ period. During this period we may be experiencing circumstances and reflecting on Uranus-related themes.

Uranus is the planet of freedom, innovation, independence, awakening, ingenuity, originality, disruption, sudden changes, and rebellion. As a sub-ruler of Aquarius, it is forward thinking, progressive, inventive, and rules technology, science, and even astrology. It is electric and associated with flashes of intuition which could bring great ideas and some sort of enlightened awareness around something. While it is in retrograde motion, the intuitive, insightful, and inventive side of Uranus tends to be stronger. ?

Things To Consider During This Period

What changes do you need to make in relation to your friends, colleagues, network, or within a group that your are involved with? Is your head too caught up in a collective ideology or interests at the expense of your own unique way of shining? What are your possibilities for expansion as a result of the some of the changes you could be making? What are you learning through your relationships? Where are their opportunities for growth in your relationships?

These are some examples of what to consider but not limited to them. A lot of how this eclipse is affecting you depends on how it is interacting with your astrological blueprint which is based on your exact birth time and location. Pay attention and reflect on to how you’re feeling during the eclipse and also anything that has played (or will play) out in the weeks before and after. The exact peak of the Lunar Eclipse will be at 6:20pm Universal Time, you can click here to see astrology, astrology readings, carmen di lucciowhat that is in your time zone.
