New Moon In Cancer: Emotional Needs & Limitations

We are having a New Moon in Cancer on July 20th/21st, depending on where you are located in the world. This is initiating a 29.5-day Lunar cycle and a new wave of energy for the coming month, however, its themes will be strongest over the following 2 weeks. This cycle will peak with a Full Moon in Aquarius on August 3rd/4th.

This New Moon is the second consecutive one in Cancer, with the previous one being a Solar Eclipse on the Solstice a month earlier. This usually doesn’t happen unless the first one occurs at the beginning of a sign on the cusp. In that case the following New Moon will occur at the end of the sign, also on the cusp. This is because the Lunar Cycle is slightly shorter than the amount of days that the Sun is in a sign and therefore consecutive New Moons are gradually shifting to an earlier position of the next sign.

This is also the first regular lunation after three back to back eclipses, however, the energies of these previous eclipses will still play out over the coming months as part of the backdrop of the other astrological configurations. You can read more about them here if you haven’t already.

Mercury Retrograde (also in Cancer) recently ended on July 12th as we are in the post-shadow until July 26th along with Venus’ post-shadow concluding on July 29th. These recent months have been a time of adjustments in certain areas of life connected to these energies and now we are in the conclusion phase of this process. You can read more about these retrogrades here.

New Moon In Cancer Opposite Saturn In Capricorn

We have been in Cancer season for nearly a month, however, this New Moon is going to extend its themes into the following Leo season. As a water sign, Cancer is associated with emotion, feelings, and intuition. It is about nurturing, sensitivity, bonding, family, domestic life, security, comforts, and nostalgia. It is instinctual and protective yet can also be insecure, smothering, subjective, clingy, overly emotional, and attached to the past.

This New Moon tightly opposes Saturn in Capricorn which is close to Pluto and Jupiter. At worst, these coming weeks can be a period of obstacles, blocks, and limitations. We may feel inhibited or restrained in some way. However, this energy can push us to be realistic, disciplined, and cautious. Issues pertaining to power dynamics, hidden matters, obsessions, or shadow qualities may come up or may need to be dealt with. We may also experience a push-pull between responsibilities and emotional needs or perhaps a need to integrate both.

Jupiter Sextile Neptune, Mars Going Into Pre-Retrograde Shadow Period

Jupiter is making its 2nd of three exact sextiles to Neptune that are happening in 2020. This one is strongest from July 22nd-August 2nd. The first one happened in mid-late February and the final will be in October. This can be expansive, explorative, educational, and philosophical, towards creativity, art, or spirituality. This can also be a period of increased compassion and idealism, however, considering the Saturnian energy realism is also at play at this time.

Mars has been in its own sign Aries since June 27th/28th and will be there until January 6th/7th. Usually Mars is in a sign for approximately 2 months, however, it will be going retrograde from September until November which is why it will have an extended stay in its sign. It is currently slowing down and will enter its pre-retrograde shadow period five days following this New Moon.

Some of the themes of this upcoming retrograde can start to become seeded from July 25th onward. We may feel more driven or aggravated than usual and as we get closer to the retrograde itself, frustrations and conflicts can increase. Ultimately this process will help to create adjustments in how we express Mars/Aries energies such as assertiveness, action, initiation, drive, anger, aggressiveness, fighting, sexuality, and male energy.  I will be writing a separate article on this retrograde as we get closer to it, join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Comet ‘NEOWISE’ Reaching Closest Point To Earth

Many of you have probably heard by now of a comet named ‘NEOWISE’ which has been seen from Earth with the naked eye throughout much of July. It is predicted that it will be visible until at least July 25th but potentially up until mid-August. NEOWISE was discovered on March 27th, 2020 and will not reappear for another 6800 years. It is the brightest one since Hale-Bopp in 1996-1997 which was much brighter than this one.

In Astrology comets aren’t widely factored as much as planets or other heavenly bodies are. This is partially because most comets take thousands of years to reappear (due to their wide orbit) and modern day astronomers usually discover them shortly before they become visible to the naked eye. Due to this our knowledge of the effects of specific comets are limited or non-existent. With the exception of Halley’s Comet, we cannot foresee them coming (like we do planets) until they come closer to Earth and get picked up by telescopes or other equipment.

According to Rod Chang, ancient astrologers observed that some comets reflected major natural disasters, man-made complications/disorders, events triggering fear, or the death/fall of a monarch/leader in the year/s in which they appear. It has also been observed that comets coincide with release or liberation from some form of oppression as well as major innovations that have a big impact on the world. Much of this makes sense with everything that has been happening this year which has been reflective of other astrological energies as well.

NEOWISE is only visible from the Northern Hemisphere and can be seen shortly after Sunset, weather pending. It will reach its closest point to Earth on July 23rd, shortly after the New Moon when the sky is darkest due to lack of moonlight. Its peak visibility will occur while it is in the sign of Leo and will also cross over the star Regulus on July 25th/26th (not yet determined if it will be visible then). These factors could potentially reflect the fall or death of a leader/monarch as observed during past comets in history.

Making Intentions & Things To Consider

What changes have occurred recently around home, family, or other aspects of your domestic life, and how should you proceed going forward?  Do you feel the need to express more of your emotional side? What have these past few weeks shown you regarding your relationships and their dynamics? Are there any responsibilities or commitments that you need to address?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time. However, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment it will occur is 5:33pm Universal Time on July 20th, or the 21st for those in the Eastern part of the world. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Lunar Eclipse In Capricorn: Clearing Old Blockages

We are having a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn on July 5th in most of the world, and on the night of July 4th in the Americas. Similarly to the Full Moon that occurred a month prior, it will be a penumbral eclipse which only has a subtle shade on the Moon. It will be visible (weather permitting) wherever it will be nighttime in part or all of its duration. This includes most of North America, most of Africa, Western Europe, parts of Central Europe, New Zealand, and all of South America.

This is the third of three eclipses occurring back to back, with this one following a more powerful annular Solar Eclipse in Cancer during the recent Solstice and a penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th. This one is also the last of a series of Eclipses occurring in the Cancer-Capricorn axis which began in 2018. This specific eclipse season marks the transition into the Gemini-Sagittarius polarity.

Eclipses reflect evolutionary changes in specific areas of our lives which can play out over the following 6 months and can begin up to 6 weeks prior. However, they are also part of a 1.5-2 year process in which the Lunar Nodes and most Eclipses are in the same signs. The changes that occur are connected to the sign they are in, the planets they are configured to, and how this all lines up with our individual astrological blueprint.

Lunar Eclipse In Capricorn

This eclipse is the final one of a process in which we have been experiencing a collective recalibration in how Cancer and Capricorn energies are expressed. This slightly began in summer of 2018  but kicked in more strongly later that year and in 2019.

This eclipse puts an emphasis on Capricorn themes as it is near the South Node which has recently entered Sagittarius. This indicates changes associated with Capricorn that can have a decreasing effect in how its energies are expressed, however, negative expressions of this sign can also come up more so to bring it to our attention.

The shifts that could occur, both challenges and developments, are more about changes or what we need to let go of, in relation to the energies of Capricorn to help facilitate a different balance with Cancer. Capricorn energies and aspects of life can be more constructive when they are expressed towards a Cancerian focal point. The areas of life in which it manifests also depends on how it is interacting with your natal astrology chart/blueprint.

Capricorn is the sign of ambition, career, duty, business, achievement, responsibility, discipline, mastery, and authority. It can be calculated, strategic, practical, orderly, conservative, realistic, authoritative, controlling, cautious, and worldly. It is a social climber and concerned with status.  It is also associated with governing and banking structures with this eclipse opposing the Sun of the United States, similarly to 1982 and 2001 in the months before 9/11.

Negatively, Capricorn energy can be serious, cynical, cold, unrelenting, and seek power over others. It can be overly focused on work and/or materialism while creating an imbalance with emotional, personal and domestic areas of life which is where the focal point has been considering previous North Node eclipses in Cancer.

Lunar Eclipse Near Jupiter-Pluto Conjunction

Now and in recent weeks, Jupiter and Pluto (also in Capricorn) are in their second exact conjunction of 2020 which is strong until July 10th, but gets triggered by the Sun from July 13th-16th. However, this energy is a part of the backdrop until late in the year with this eclipse highlighting it as well.

As mentioned in previous articles, this energy can be revealing of hidden matters or perhaps issues connected to abuse, control, manipulation, obsessions, shadows, or power dynamics. However, it can also be a time of acquiring deeper perspectives and can have transformational potential as well. Considering that this is a South Node eclipse, it can be a time of releasing or changing negative qualities of this energy.

Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is not too far from these planets in the same sign. The combination of the three  (especially Saturn-Pluto) in close proximity reflects the heavy energy of 2020. Saturn brings a level of seriousness and minimizes the expansiveness of Jupiter with restrictions and limitations, especially as Saturn rules the sign that they are both in.

Lunar Eclipse Square Mars-Chiron, Trine Uranus, and Sextile Neptune

Mars in Aries is approaching Chiron which will be exact around July 13th and 14th. This is also in a T-square with the Full Moon Eclipse (and Mercury Retrograde) carrying its themes for an extended period. This reflects similar energy in the lunations of previous months.

Mars’ conjunction with Chiron (configured to the eclipse) can reflect action and assertiveness that is healing, integrating, bridging, whole-istic, unorthodox, and addressing wounds. With it being in Aries, it could be connected to identity, individualism, or  individuality. It can also be about addressing negative expressions of Mars such as anger, aggression, or abuse.

The square to Mars can play out as conflicts, competitiveness, and intensity. We have already been seeing this on a collective level as the eclipse a month prior was also in a square with Mars. In the following 5-6 month window of this current eclipse season, Mars will be going retrograde which reinforces the energy of these Mars flavoured eclipses.

This eclipse is in a trine with Uranus in Taurus which can be innovative, inspiring, original, revolutionary, rebellious, and good for shaking things up. It is also in a sextile with Neptune, although this isn’t too strong, it can be supportive in a compassionate, creative, spiritual, or idealistic way.

Mercury Retrograde, Venus in Post-Retrograde Shadow

Mercury has been retrograde since mid-June and will be going direct a week following this eclipse. It is in Cancer reflecting a time of adjustments and re-orientations around home/domestic life, family, security, land/property, emotional comforts, caregiving, and emotional connections with others. As it begins to move forward in the days after July 12th and over the following weeks, we may see that we are proceeding in an adjusted way around Cancerian matters or developments that have come up since early June.

Venus ended its retrograde on June 25th and we are now in a time in which we are progressing differently around Venus ruled areas that have been playing out since the first half of April.  It can be connected to relationships, love, values, social dynamics, desires, worth, aesthetics, art, or perhaps financial matters.

Things To Consider

What have been some of the major themes for you over the past 1.5 years and what are they leading you towards? What area(s) of life do you need to let go of negative ways of expression? differently? What aspects of your ambitions do you need to release? Where should you be applying yourself in a healing way? Are there fragmented parts of your life that should be integrated to bring more harmony into your life? How can you achieve this?

These are just some examples of what can be playing out for you but not limited to these either. Keep in mind that the themes of this specific eclipse will play out until the Fall. It is best to try to tune into this energy as it happens and pay attention to your feelings to help you in decisions you need to make in the future.

The two weeks following this eclipse can be a good time to initiate any sort of releasing process if you feel necessary. The eclipse begins at 3:07am Universal Time on July 5th with it peaking at 4:30am and finishing at 5:52am. The Moon begins to wane after 4:44am GMT. You can click here to see when the peak will be in your time zone.

Solstice ‘Ring Of Fire’ Solar Eclipse: Going Into New Territory

We are having a New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer which happens on June 21st and the night of the 20th in the Americas. It will be visible from most of Africa, most of Asia, parts of Europe, and Northern Australia. This is an annular eclipse, which is when the Moon almost completely blocks out the Sun, except for its outer edges.

It appears like this because the Moon is near its apogee, which is its furthest distance from the Earth. This type of eclipse is also referred to as a ‘Ring of Fire’ due to it appearing this way. However, from most of the listed locations you can only see it as a partial eclipse unless you are on its path.

A Solar Eclipse is a much more significant type of New Moon which influences a longer term period then a regular one. This is when it occurs near the Lunar Nodes, which is where the path of the Sun and Moon intersect from our perspective on Earth. This happens every six months, along with Full Moon Lunar Eclipses happening right before and/or after.

Two weeks prior to this we had a Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius, and we will have another Lunar Eclipse (in Capricorn) two weeks following. Join my mailing list here to get my article on the next eclipse and other content that I put out..

Eclipses reflect changes and shifts which affect the six months following and could also influence up to six weeks prior. You may or may not see the effects of it around the time it occurs, but you may feel it and then see it actually play out in the weeks or months afterwards.

However, eclipses are in the same opposing signs for 1.5-2 years which is where the Lunar Nodes are for most of that period. Some of the themes that are playing out could last that long. We have been experiencing eclipses in Cancer since summer 2018 and this will be the final one of this series as we are transitioning into Gemini-Sagittarius eclipses which is where the nodes recently entered.

The positions of the Eclipses and the Lunar Nodes reflect an evolutionary process in how we work with the energies of these signs. What results from a series of eclipses in the same signs over these two year periods have longer-term effects beyond the window in which they occur in. .

Solstice Solar Eclipse in Cancer, Mercury Retrograde in the Same Sign

The peak of this eclipse occurs nine hours after the initiation of Cancer month which is the Summer Solstice in the Northern hemisphere and Winter Solstice in the South, initiating the new season. This is when the Sun is directly overhead the ‘Tropic of Cancer’ which is the most Northern Latitude it is able to align with.

This is a highly significant point in the zodiac and within the Sun-Earth relationship in which the Tropical Zodiac is based on. Different cultures and groups have acknowledged Solstices as a spiritually and naturally important time of the year. They have honored and celebrated it throughout history as well as in modern times.

The Solstice energy gets configured to this Solar Eclipse making it extra significant. The first degree (beginning) of a sign and especially season, is associated with going into new territory. Also, considering it is the longest day of the year in the North, in which the amount of daily Sunlight peaks, it can also reflect some sort of climax as well. The last time we had an Eclipse like this was on June 21st, 2001, months before 9/11.

Some of the shifts reflected in this Eclipse and previous ones in the last few years are connected to Cancerian energy. It is just over 1 degree away from the North Node which is on the other side of the cusp with Gemini. This indicates changes and developments that have an increasing effect on how Cancerian energies are expressed.

As a water sign, Cancer is emotional, intuitive, and feeling based. It is about security, nurturing, sensitivity, bonding, family, domestic life, comforts, patriotism, and nostalgia. It is instinctual and protective yet can also be vulnerable, insecure, smothering, overly subjective, clingy, hypersensitive, overprotective, and attached to the past. Mercury is also retrograde in Cancer which emphasizes the shifts around Cancerian themes now and over the coming months. You can read more about that here.

Solar Eclipse Quincunx Saturn, Square Chiron, and Sextile Uranus

This Eclipse is in a quincunx aspect with Saturn in Aquarius which can make it complicated to integrate these Saturnian and Cancerian energies. This can reflect hindrances that require adjustments. Saturn here can represent limitations, restrictions, boundaries, or obstacles that are challenging to incorporate and need extra effort to adapt to..

This Eclipse is also in a square with Chiron and sextile with Uranus. Chiron here can reflect a time in which personal or collective wounds come up and pain can get triggered. With it being in Aries, it could be connected to identity, individuality, or individualism, yet can play out in other ways as well. We may need to address aspects of ourselves, or the whole, that have been fragmented.

The key here is to facilitate healing by addressing things in a whole-istic way and applying unique solutions that may involve bringing together different factors or components of something. The sextile with Uranus can be supportive in a way that is innovative, inspiring, original, revolutionary,  rebellious, and desiring of change.

This energy with Chiron and Uranus will come up strongly from June 29th to July 2nd when the Sun and Mercury are making exact aspects to them. This will be a significant part of the current Mercury Retrograde process as it will be during its ‘inferior conjunction’.

Jupiter Conjunct Pluto, Aspected By Mars

Jupiter is also in an exact conjunction with Pluto which is strong from June 19th until July 10th. This is the 2nd of a series of three Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions happening this year. The first one began in the second half of March when it was strong until mid April and the 3rd (final) conjunction will be in November. However, this conjunction is still an important part of the backdrop throughout most of  2020.

This can bring hidden matters to light and it can be a time of acquiring deeper understandings and perspectives. Issues pertaining to abuse, control, power dynamics can surface. This combined with Mercury’s ‘inferior conjunction’ from June 30th to July 1st can also have a transformational theme for certain people.

Mars in a sextile with this conjunction during this eclipse and days prior. This is good for assertiveness or action that corresponds with this energy or in some sort of persuasive, overhauling, or significant way.

Venus Going Direct, Mars Square Lunar Nodes

On June 25th Venus ends its retrograde and goes stationary direct, and slowly begins to move forward over the following days. Now, and over the coming weeks, certain Venus related issues will progress in a revamped way. It could have to do with Venus areas of relationships, love, values, social dynamics, finances, creative/artistic interests, or things that are aesthetic related.

There will either be more clarity, a different perspective, or a change in gears around what has come up in recent months pertaining to Venus. This is especially so from when Mercury ends its retrograde in mid-July until they both end their post-retrograde shadows in late July.

As Venus starts to go direct, Mars is also in a square with the Lunar Nodes from June 25th-27th. This is reflective of the energy of the previous Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius and it can trigger some of those themes. The square occurs while Mars is at the last degree of Pisces which is also the end of the entire zodiac before beginning anew in Aries, Mars’ home sign.

This can be a period in which we may feel like we are at a crossroads between the past and the future. This in combination with Venus’ change in motion can feel like a transition. Perhaps the need to leave something behind, tie up loose ends, or move on from something hindering us may come up now to help us proceed with where we truly want to go.

Things To Consider

Keep in mind that Solar Eclipses are different from regular New Moons and they are not necessarily a time to be making intentions. It is best to just try to tune into it, such as in meditation, and/or pay attention to your feelings. Perhaps whatever is coming up for at that time can help you navigate the upcoming months to serve you in your personal evolution. The themes of the Eclipse will be connected to Cancerian energies, however, it also depends on how it is interacting with your personal astrology chart based on the day and time of your birth.

Here are some suggestions of things that you can be considering at this time and over the following six months. How can you adapt to obstacles you are being faced with? In what areas of life should you be taking new and unique approaches? Are there any deep wounds being triggered for you? What can be done to help heal and/or change a situation in a positive way?

What are your relationships with others trying to show you? Are there developments in your life pushing you to be more caring or nurturing? What has been coming up in your home/domestic/family life and what changes can you make to improve a situation?

These are just some examples of themes that could come up during this period and over the coming months; however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out as well.  The Eclipse will peak at its maximum at 6:40am Universal Time and the exact moment of the New Moon will be just over a minute later. The eclipse process will begin and finish almost 2 hours before and after. You can click here to see when the peak is in your time zone.

Mercury Retrograde In Cancer: Remodeling Security

Mercury begins another retrograde process on June 18th which will last until July 12th. This one is occurring completely in Cancer. In the weeks (and especially days) leading up to it, it can already start to feel like a retrograde and some of its themes can get seeded. This is because Mercury slows down from our vantage point on Earth and travels in the part of sky it will be returning to after the retrograde begins. This is known as the ‘pre-shadow’ period which began on June 2nd.

This retrograde is happening during eclipse season. It follows a Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th/6th, it’s three days before a Solar Eclipse (also in Cancer), and then we’ll have another Lunar Eclipse (in Capricorn) on July 4th/5th. This retrograde also begins while Venus is in the last week of its retrograde

All of this happening in the same period indicates a time of readjustments and shifts in specific areas of our lives connected to these signs as well as how it all corresponds to our individual birth charts. You can read my latest Eclipse and Venus Retrograde articles here and join my mailing list to ensure that you receive my next eclipse article and other future content.

If you have read my previous Mercury Retrograde articles, the first two sections of this article are nearly the same and you can skip to the third section if you don’t want to re-read all the general themes associated with these periods. The other sections are more specific to this edition of it.

Mercury retrograde is known for the problematic effects it often has on communication technology, transactions, motor vehicles, anything with moving parts, and commuting in general. Some people even get headaches near the beginning of it. We could experience some challenges, misunderstandings, and errors around our communications, numbers/details, and commerce, as well as changes, cancellations, or delays in our schedules. We may also feel more challenged when we are excessively analytical without tuning into our internal guidance.

Mercury Retrograde can also be a good time to revisit or redo tasks, projects, ideas, or anything else that was initiated in the past. It can give us a different perspective or shift in thinking that can help us to approach these things in ways we wouldn’t have done before. This may also be a period of reconnecting with old friends, family, lovers, or others we haven’t seen in a while. When we reconnect with people during a retrograde, it can help to facilitate a shift in the relationship. In some cases, issues from the past can come up which may need to be hashed out.

The Deeper Purpose of Mercury Retrograde

Ultimately, Mercury Retrograde is a time for us to recalibrate and adjust specific areas of our lives as well as how we apply our minds towards these issues. It is a period in which we may receive important insights and see things in a new light. In most cases, it can be mildly transformational, but in some cases it can facilitate more major transformations depending on how it corresponds to your personal astrological chart.

During and following the retrograde, certain areas of our lives can go through changes or shifts, or we can experience a re-orientation of some sort which influences how we proceed over the coming months or in some cases, it can have a more long-term significance. In the three weeks afterwards, known as the ‘post-shadow’ period, we move forward with some sort of new awareness, adjustment, as well as new ideas and thoughts that have been seeded which will develop and become more defined as time progresses.

Certain things that have come up specifically in the two weeks leading up to the start of the retrograde could determine where this energy could play out. It is also possible that there could have been changes or developments at that time which may go through a sorting-out process or shift in dynamics during the actual retrograde and in the two weeks following. There could be unknown variables, either positive or negative, that were either unseen or hadn’t been conceived yet, which may become apparent over the coming month.

The sign(s) and element(s) in which Mercury retrograde travels in shows the energy we are re-orienting ourselves with. More importantly, if you are familiar with your natal astrology chart, then your house(s) or any planetary placements being affected will show more specifically which areas of life you will be experiencing its energy in. For the astrologically literate, it begins at 14’46 degrees of Cancer and will retrograde back to 5’30 degrees of the same sign before turning forward again.

Occurring In Cancer As Part of a Series in Water Signs

Mercury Retrograde always happens in primarily one element for 1-2 years. This is the fifth of a series occurring in water signs, with the final one happening in the Fall of 2020. The water element is about emotion, feelings, sensitivity, compassion, intuition, and fluidity. This period is about re-aligning ourselves with these qualities and expressing them in new or revamped ways.

This one is primarily a reorientation around Cancerian energies and themes which is about security, family, home/domestic life, comforts, maternal nature, nurturing, caregiving, empathy, bonding and emotional connections with others. It is also associated with nostalgia and holding on to memories, especially those that are comforting. Cancer energy is also instinctual and protective yet can also be easily offended, moody, manipulative, vulnerable, insecure, smothering, too subjective, clingy, overly emotional, and attached to the past.

Mercury Retrograde Significant Dates

Below are some of the dates and information for some of the major astrological configurations during this retrograde.

*The dates below are based on the Americas. The further East you are located, you may need to consider it as the next day.

June 17th/18th Mercury begins its retrograde at 4:59 am Universal Time (June 18th).

Mercury retrograde themes and complications may come up strongly at this time and in recent days leading up to this. You may get some sort of indication of the things that may be playing out for you over the next month based on how you feel or what transpires. It’s possible that certain things that happen at this time, which may seem insignificant, can somehow be connected to how this retrograde process will affect you.

June 21st Solar Eclipse In Cancer

This is a powerful annular eclipse happening on the Solstice and in the same sign as the retrograde, putting an exclamation mark on Cancerian themes. This will be the final of a series of eclipses in Cancer which have been occurring since summer 2018, yet its energies will reflect the following 6 months. I will be writing a separate article on this eclipse, join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

June 25th Venus ends its retrograde and goes direct.

Venus has been retrograde in Cancer’s neighboring sign Gemini since mid-May with its themes beginning in April during its pre-shadow period. From this point onward we can begin to move forward in different ways pertaining to Venus areas such as love, relationships, values, social dynamics, finances, creative/artistic interests, or things that are aesthetic related.

However, with Mercury being the ruler of Venus’s current position in Gemini, and considering that the Mercury pre-retrograde shadow began during a significant period of Venus’ retrograde, it is possible that this Mercury retrograde (lasting until July 12th) can extend some of its themes. Both Mercury and Venus will conclude their post-retrograde shadow in late July and by that point things will have more clarity and forward momentum around certain issues that have been playing out since April.

June 29th-July 2nd Mercury Retrograde Conjunct the Sun in aspect with Uranus and Chiron, Jupiter also conjunct Pluto

This is the halfway point of Mercury retrograde, known as the ‘inferior conjunction,’ which is when it returns to the Sun. This can be a period of increased insights, and the themes or circumstances pertaining to how this retrograde is affecting you may come up more during this period.

Complications and frustrations can also be stronger at this time depending on your circumstances or how you are applying yourself. This may also be a period of ridding yourself of certain thoughts, ideas, perceptions, old interests, expectations, or other things that are not serving you while the potential for new ones may be seeded.

The aspects with Chiron and Uranus can reflect originality, inventiveness, and creativity. Communications, thoughts, and realizations can be stimulating and have themes that are holistic, bridging, healing, or pertaining to achieving wholeness. However, pains and issues connected to wounds and blockages can also come up.

Jupiter is also in an exact conjunction with Pluto which is peaking at this time, yet this energy has been prominent since June 19th until July 10th. This is the 2nd of a series of three Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions happening this year. The first one began in the second half of March when it was strong until mid April and the 3rd (final) conjunction will be in November.

This energy can bring hidden matters to light and it can be a time of acquiring deeper understandings and perspectives. Issues pertaining to abuse, control, power dynamics can surface. This combined with the inferior conjunction can also have a transformational theme for certain people.

July 4th/5th Lunar Eclipse In Capricorn

This will be the final eclipse in Capricorn as part of a series we’ve been experiencing for the last year and a half. The effects of this eclipse will also influence the following months. I will be writing a separate article on this. Join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

July 7th-9th Mercury Retrograde square Mars

This can be one of the more annoying periods of this retrograde. Conflicts, arguments, irritability, and impatience can occur more easily during this time. We need to be a little extra cautious during this period to minimize the risk of saying things incorrectly or making impulsive decisions that we may regret later.

July 12th Mercury transitions from Retrograde to Direct

Mercury will slowly begin to move forward from July 12th onward. The areas of our lives that have been affected by this retrograde will start to become more clear and things will fall into place more easily as we progress into the coming days and weeks. As Mercury gradually picks up speed, we can move forward in the areas of life that have been affected. However, usually the first few days after it ends can still feel like its retrograde, as complications may occur due to Mercury’s stationary position. It’s usually best to wait until at least 3 days afterwards before finalizing decisions, agreements, etc.

Later on around August 17th/18th and/or in the days following, there may be even more clarity around certain things that have been seeded during this retrograde. From there, things may develop further with a better perception, or circumstances may indicate lack of sufficiency, not what was anticipated, or that something needs to change.

Lunar Eclipse In Sagittarius: Restless Perplexity

We are having a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th peaking at 7:25pm Universal Time which will be on the 6th in the Eastern part of the world. It will be a penumbral eclipse which only has a slight shade on the Moon dimming it’s brightness. These ones are harder to notice and can be mistaken for a regular Full Moon. It will be visible (weather permitting) wherever it will be nighttime in part or all of its duration. This includes most of Europe, most of Asia, all of Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Eastern parts of South America.

This is the first of three eclipses occurring back to back, with this one followed by a more powerful annular Solar Eclipse in Cancer on June 20th/21st and another penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn on July 4th/5th. This one is also the first of a series of Eclipses occurring in the Gemini-Sagittarius axis which we will be experiencing until late 2021. The following two eclipses will be the final ones in the Cancer/Capricorn polarity which began in summer 2018.

Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius Opposite Sun in Gemini, Jupiter in Capricorn

We have recently begun a process in which we are experiencing a collective recalibration in how Gemini and Sagittarius energies are expressed. This started in early May when the Lunar nodes entered these signs followed by Venus going retrograde in Gemini. However, this eclipse and others later in the year will crank it up more so and these themes will play out until early 2022.

This eclipse puts an emphasis on Sagittarius which is where the South Node is. This indicates changes and developments associated with this sign that can have a decreasing effect in how its energies are expressed, however, negative expressions of this sign can also come up more so to bring it to our attention. Sagittarius energies and aspects of life can be more constructive when they are expressed towards a Gemini focal point.

Sagittarius is associated with beliefs, philosophies, morals, righteousness, travel, exploration, and perspectives based on experience. It is associated with media, marketing, and education. Sagittarius energy can be excessive, blunt, egotistical, argumentative, fanatical, opinionated, preachy, unrealistic, disregarding of consequences, and have a ‘know-it-all’ complex.

Sagittarius and its ruler Jupiter are associated with expansion, idealism, and optimism. However, with the South Node in Sagittarius and Jupiter in the Saturnian sign of Capricorn, this is a time of being realistic, cautious, and practical. Jupiter is also moving towards a 2nd conjunction with Pluto (both retrograde) which can be transformative, destructive, and purging of the old.

This Full Moon Eclipse is opposite the Sun in Gemini which is where the North Node is. Over the next few years there is an emphasis on increase and growth around the themes/energies of this sign. Gemini is associated with facts, communication, articulation, learning, different viewpoints, neighbors, neighborhood, close friends, siblings, extended family, and our local environment.

As mentioned above, Sagittarius expressions will be more conducive within a balance of Gemini being the focal point. We are already seeing this play out. For example,  education (Sagittarius) is being done from home on devices/apps (Gemini). International travel (Sagittarius) has been minimized, but shorter trips with our country/state/province will be okay (Gemini).

Lunar Eclipse Opposite Sun conjunct Venus Retrograde

This eclipse is happening in opposition to Venus retrograde. We are in a time of reorientation around Venus ruled areas such as relationships, love, social dynamics, values, pleasures, creativity, and finances. This energy is factored into the other mentioned themes of this eclipse which can play out until the Fall.

In the days leading up to this eclipse, Venus joined the Sun in its ‘inferior conjunction’. This can reflect a shift in dynamics and/or insights.. It can be a time in which certain circumstances can be pushing us to renew or let go of some aspects of how we express or engage in Venus areas of life.

Lunar Eclipse Square Mars and Neptune

This configuration is also in a square with Mars which could have begun to play out in the five days prior. This can reflect conflicts, restlessness, arguments, competitiveness, or some sort of passionate engagement with others. For some, this energy can also be creatively or romantically stimulating. However, the Sun has been approaching a square with Mars since after the last New Moon which has been a building up of intense energy.

Mars in Pisces moving towards a conjunction with Neptune can make it confusing and it can be hard to focus our action.  Although this energy is good for applying ourselves spiritually, artistically, imaginatively, sacrificially, or compassionately, this can also reflect inconsideration of boundaries, impracticality, escapism, and asserting ourselves in a delusional or confused way. This is connected to the long term backdrop of this eclipse, but will be strongest from June 11th-14th.

Mercury in Pre-Retrograde Shadow, Sextile Uranus and Square Chiron

Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, entered its pre-retrograde shadow period on June 2nd and will be going retrograde on June 18th until July 12th. It is happening in Cancer, beginning days before a powerful Solar Eclipse in the same sign.

With Mercury being in the next sign from Venus retrograde, and ruling it as well, this can reflect the next stage of some of the themes that have come up. Keep in mind when making decisions over these coming weeks that some of the things playing out will lead to a change in dynamics or shift in perspective later in the month or in July. As Mercury increasingly slows down prior to June 18th we can also begin to experience some of the common Mercury retrograde complications.

At the time of this eclipse Mercury is in a tight square with Chiron and sextile to Uranus. Thoughts and communications can be insightful, innovative, and revolutionary. This can be good for creative solutions, realizations and bringing wholeness to a situation. Our wounds can be triggered more easily but this can ultimately push us towards healing.  .

I will be covering the upcoming retrograde and eclipses in future content,  join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Things To Consider

What has come up for you in the ten days leading up to this eclipse? What do you feel like you need to change or release? What are your relationships and social dynamics showing you? What aspects of your beliefs might be wrong? Is there something about the media or perspectives that you are consuming that you feel is not serving you? Are you clear about what you are fighting for or fighting against? Is there something that you may be confused about?

These are just some examples of what can be playing out for you but not limited to these either. Keep in mind that the themes of this specific eclipse will play out until the Fall and the Gemini-Sagittarius nodal themes will play out until early 2022.  It is best to try to tune into this energy as it happens and pay attention to your feelings to help you in decisions you need to make in the future.

The two weeks following this eclipse can be a good time to initiate any sort of releasing process if you feel necessary. The eclipse begins at 5:46pm Universal Time on June 5th with it peaking at 7:25pm and finishing at 9:04pm. The Moon begins to wane after 7:13pm. You can click here to see when the peak will be in your time zone.

New Moon In Gemini: Adaptability & Confusion

We are having a New Moon in Gemini on May 22nd or 23rd, depending on where you are located in the world. This is initiating a 29.5-day Lunar cycle and a new wave of energy for the coming month, however, its themes will be strongest over the following 2 weeks. This cycle will peak with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th/6th.

Gemini season has just begun on May 20th/21st with it’s ruler Mercury also there. As an Air sign it is socially and mentally oriented, while as a Mutable sign it is versatile, adaptable, and multi-faceted. Mutable signs are the last of each season which is a reflection of its changeable nature to help facilitate a transition from one thing to the next.

Gemini’s energy is curious, communicative, articulate, informative, agile, busy, clever, and dualistic. It has chameleon-like properties and is the sign of multiple expressions or personalities. Gemini is associated with information, learning, writing, commuting, immediate environment, neighbours/neighbourhood, siblings, close friends, and extended family. Negatively, it can be gossipy, superficial, inconsistent, scattered, two faced, unfocused, and lack emotion.

Venus is currently retrograde in Gemini and the Lunar North Node also recently entered this sign. All of this puts an exclamation mark on Gemini themes at this time. The North Node will be there until early 2022 which reflects a push towards working with Gemini energies in a positively constructive way. Much of this process is getting emphasized over this next month. You can read more about Venus retrograde here.

New Moon Trine Saturn, Sextile Chiron, & Square Mars With Uranus In The Mix

This New Moon is in a tight trine with Saturn in Aquarius and sextile with Chiron. In comparison to previous months, these upcoming weeks can have more of a stabilizing energy. This can be good for applying ourselves in a disciplined, realistic, and committed way.

The sextile to Chiron gives us a small dose of its themes. Chiron is associated with healing, wholeness, cleansing, spiritual growth, innovative ideas, and discovery. It is holistic, bridging, creative, and unorthodox. This energy will also come up May 27th-28th/29th.

The New Moon is also in a square with Mars in Pisces which is moving towards a sextile with Uranus. This in combination with all the Gemini can bring restlessness and scatteredness. It can also be competitive, impulsive, and combative. Following the New Moon period, this energy will build up in the coming weeks and peak at the upcoming Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius.

Mars is moving towards a sextile with Uranus which is strongest from May 24th-25th/26th. This is good for making changes or trying new things. We may want to apply ourselves in unique, experimental, or revolutionary ways. Pursuing some sort of independence or freedom is another way this energy can be expressed.

Mercury Conjunct Venus Retrograde, Both Square Neptune & Out Of Bounds

The ruler of Gemini, Mercury, is in a conjunction with Venus retrograde which are both in Gemini as well. This is one of the more significant periods of the Venus retrograde and can facilitate some realizations or issues that are part of the retrograde process.  Thoughts or issues pertaining to relationships, values, money, art, or something aesthetic related can be prominent.

However, with both of them in a square to Neptune there can be some confusion, idealism, misunderstandings, flakiness, delusion, disappointments, or problems around boundaries. Issues pertaining to escapism or intoxication can come up and this can be a time of feeling tired and lethargic. In some cases this energy can be creatively or spiritually stimulating. This is strongest on the day of and days surrounding the New Moon.

Both Mercury and Venus are ‘Out of Bounds’. This is when planets move outside of the boundaries in which the Sun travels in, from our perspective on Earth. It is about exploring new territory as well as going outside of our usual limitations and conventional ways of doing things. This can also reflect seeing things from a different perspective and objective thinking.

Mercury, the planet of the mind, perceptions, reason, communication, commuting, and commerce has been out of bounds since May 16th until June 9th/10th. Venus, the planet of love, relationships, social life, values, money, beauty, art, and aesthetics, has been out of bounds since April 1st until June 1st.

Approaching Eclipse Season

In the two weeks after this Full Moon we will have a Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th/6th followed by a Solar Eclipse in Cancer on June 21st and another Lunar Eclipse in July. They are happening during Venus’ retrograde and post shadow, and will also overlap with an upcoming Mercury retrograde.

All of this combined shows that these coming months are a time of transitions, changes, and reorientations. Eclipses can reflect beginnings, endings, and even evolutionary developments pertaining to the sign it is in and in specific areas in each of our lives. However, their effects don’t always play out when they are occurring. They can also manifest sometime in the 6 months following and in some cases up to 6 weeks prior.

I will be writing separate articles on these eclipses, join my mailing list here to ensure that you are notified when they are published.

Making Intentions & Things To Consider

What has been coming up for you around love or regarding friendships? What are relationship dynamics showing you and in what ways do you lack clarity? How can you better communicate and harmonize how you interact with others? What are you learning about/through the information you are consuming and does it truly make sense for you? How can you better adapt to the circumstances in your life? What are your options for handling financial matters?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time. However, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment it will occur is 5:39pm Universal Time on May 22nd, or the 23rd for those in the Eastern part of the world. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Venus Retrograde In Gemini: Social Reorientation

Venus is retrograde in Gemini from May 13th until June 25th. Its themes have been building up since April 9th, when Venus entered the part of the sky it will be retrograding back to. When a planet goes retrograde, it appears to be moving backwards in zodiacal position from our perspective here on Earth. This is due to the positioning of its orbit around the Sun relative to Earth’s orbit.

Unlike Mercury Retrograde, Venus Retrogrades occur less frequently, every 19 months, but they last about twice as long. Although both retrogrades have some similarities in regards to how they might affect your social life, Venus still presents a much different vibe.

This is a time of adjustments, reflections, revisitation, and reconnection in areas represented by Venus. It rules over love, intimate relationships, friendships, values, money, worth, aesthetics, and overall attractability. It is associated with passions, creativity, pleasures, and tastes.

Intimate and Social Relationships

For many couples, though not all, it can be a challenging time. Whether challenging or not, however, Venus retrograde can deepen or shift the way love is expressed between partners. Any new relationships — those shorter than 18 months — may be tested during this period, as it will be the first one experienced as a couple.

Any new developments or perspectives around relationships that have occurred since April 9th may experience a shift or end up playing out quite differently than expected over the next few months. Consider this an important step in the evolution of your relationship(s). A retrograde process can either ultimately strengthen relationships, change the dynamics, or can break them apart.

Friendships could be affected in this way as well, minus the intimacy. In some cases a friend can become a lover or vice versa. This could also be a time when people reconnect with friends (or lovers) of the past to further evolve the relationship. It could bring some sort of closure and/or new developments/dynamics.

New or reacquainted relationships that form during Venus retrogrades can play an important role in evolving how we apply ourselves in relationships into the future. However, for anyone who does enter a new relationship at this time, it would be good to wait until after the retrograde is over before going ‘all in’. At that point, things will then become more clear on how to proceed with matters of love. In some cases a relationship can get more serious, or further developed, in the post retrograde period while in other cases it could come to an end or scaled back..

Values, Attraction, Money, Beauty, and Material Things

Depending on what area of your natal chart it is occurring in, and while considering other factors, Venus retrograde could create a shift in what we value and/or how we are valued and what we are attracted to. For some people, there could also be a shift in financial matters that may have begun developing or played out sometime since early April. If so, be mindful of the possibility that things could still change over the next few months.

It would also be a good idea to be cautious when doing anything new that involves beauty, decorating, design, or buying items related to fashion. There is a greater possibility that eventually you may not be happy with these kinds of choices that you make. However, going back and fixing/redoing/renovating things can make more sense, although sometimes complications might still arise. Also, purchasing clothing from thrift stores can also be more fruitful than getting new items.

Venus Retrograde in Gemini, With North Node Also In Gemini

This Venus Retrograde will be occurring between 22 and 5 degrees of Gemini. The last two times it occurred in this sign was in Spring/Summer of 2012 and 2004 and therefore this one may have some similar themes.. Some readers will remember that both of those retrogrades included the infamous ‘Transit of Venus’ when it was right in front of the Sun and created a really small dark spot eclipsing a small portion of the Sun’s light.

Astronomically speaking, the reason why this occurred was because when Venus was conjunct the Sun, it was in the part of its orbit which intersects the pathway of the Sun (ecliptic) from our vantage point on Earth. This will not happen gain for almost one hundred years. However, although we will not have a ‘Venus Transit’, Venus’ orbit still crosses the ecliptic in Gemini and will be doing so days before its conjunction with the Sun during this retrograde. Generally speaking, this gives Venus retrogrades in this sign more significance.

Venus themes will also be mixed in with areas of life associated with Gemini which is a social and intellectual sign. This sign is about information, news, curiosity, communication (and related technology), writing, and language. Gemini can also be associated with siblings, extended family, neighbors, or those from our earlier part of life. Our neighborhood, immediate environments, and commuting is also connected to this sign. Gemini energy can also be scattered, high strung, gossipy, two faced, cunning, superficial, and uncommitted.

The North Node entered Gemini just over a week before Venus begins its retrograde in the same sign. Over the next few years there will be a push to work with the energies of Gemini in a more constructive way. However, Venus here over the next few months will facilitate shifts around our values pertaining to Gemini areas.

Journey of Venus Retrograde – Aspects & Timeline

*Below are some of the dates and information about Venus’ aspects and other major astrological configurations during this retrograde.

Earlier dates are for those in Western part of the world and later dates for those in the East.

May 13th – Venus goes Retrograde while in a Square with Neptune.

The days surrounding this period could be a time in which some of the themes mentioned above could become more apparent. There could potentially be developments that will play a role in how this retrograde plays out for you. Venus also begins its retrograde in a square with Neptune which will peak at May 20th/21st (see below for more information on that). Also, Saturn went retrograde on May 10th/11th and Jupiter goes retrograde on May 14th which emphasizes a shift in energy this week.

May 20th-23rd – Venus square Neptune with Mercury joining during New Moon in Gemini

Venus has been in a square with Neptune since the beginning of May. At best this can be creatively stimulating or bring a spiritual/mystical dimension to our social lives. However, this can also reflect confusion, misunderstandings, disappointments, delusion, deception, and issues around boundaries in our relationships, financially, or perhaps around other Venus areas mentioned above. Escapism is also another way this can play out for many people.

With Gemini’s ruler Mercury joining this configuration on the 22nd (23rd for those in the East), this can increase the social and gossipy potentials of Venus in Gemini and the square to Neptune can also bring mental confusion and lack of focus. The New Moon (also in Gemini) is occurring at this time and therefore these themes are seeded into the entire lunar cycle.

May 23rd/24th Venus goes under the beams of the Sun until June 15th

Up until this point,  Venus was visible shortly after sunset as an ‘evening star’. Following this date it will no longer be visible in the sky until June 15th-ish when it will appear as a ‘morning star’. We can experience some shifts or developments that may require us to do some shedding or some sort of deeper reorientation over the next three weeks, peaking at the ‘inferior conjunction’ during the first week of June..

June 2nd – 6th Venus inferior Conjunction while square Mars, configured to Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius

During this time Venus returns to the Sun in its ‘inferior conjunction’ while they are both in a square aspect with Mars. This is the halfway point of the retrograde and is when there can be more of a shift in dynamics and/or insights pertaining Venus areas of love, relationships, social life, pleasures, money, and/or values. This is a time in which we may need to renew or let go of some aspect of how we express or engage in Venus aspects of life.

The square with Mars can reflect conflicts, arguments, competitiveness, or some sort of passionate engagement with others. For some, this energy can also be creatively or romantically stimulating. There will be a Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th/6th that is also in a configuration with these Sun-Mercury-Mars aspects. This will extend some of these themes until at least September or November, and can seed themes that will play out over the coming months.  I will be writing a separate article on this eclipse. Join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

June 10th/11th – Venus sextile Chiron

Chiron is a major player in this retrograde and this specific cycle that Venus is in with the Sun. Due to Chiron’s invovment, this retrograde can help bring healing, wholeness, bridging, integration, or solutions around Venus ruled areas and perhaps Gemini things like information, communication, etc. After the retrograde is finished, it will sextile Chiron again from July 8th-12th in which these themes may come back, perhaps in a more constructive way.

June 15th/16th – Venus re-appears visibly in the sky as a ‘morning star’ before Sunrise

At this time we can begin to have a better perception around some of the things that have been playing out over the previous month. There can be different developments, a change in circumstances, or a shift in how we feel about these issues.

June 17th/18th – Mercury goes retrograde in Cancer

Mercury is going retrograde in Cancer until mid-July. Due to it being the ruler of Gemini and it occurring in the next sign after it, we can expect some overlapping themes between both retrogrades. Some of the issues and developments that came up during the Venus retrograde (especially since beginning of June) may go through a hashing out process during Mercury’s retrograde.

June 25th – Venus goes stationary direct

Venus comes to a stop and begins to slowly move forward again. Over the coming weeks, certain Venus related issues will progress in a revamped way. There will be more clarity around what has come up, especially after Mercury ends its retrograde from mid to late July. In March 2021, Venus will reach its next major point in its cycle with the Sun. It’s possible that some of the things that occur during this retrograde will lead to developments and scenarios that happen then.

New Moon In Taurus: Shaking Things Up

We are having a New Moon in Taurus on April 22nd or 23rd, depending on where you are located in the world. This is initiating a 29.5-day Lunar cycle and a new wave of energy for the coming month, however, its themes will be strongest over the following 2 weeks. This cycle will peak at the Full Moon in Scorpio on May 7th.

Taurus season began on April 19th/20th, however, this New Moon helps to kickstart it even more so. Ruled by Venus, this sign is associated with values, sensuality, beauty, worth, money, possessions, and pleasures of life. As an Earth sign, it is practical, realistic, and very much invested in the physical world. Being a ‘Fixed’ Earth sign, it is like a rock; slow, steady, grounded, and thorough.

Taurus is also associated with nature and it is very fitting and reflective for Earth Day to occur during its season. It is the second sign of the zodiac and therefore is more self-oriented as is all the earlier signs. Negatively, Taurus can be too rigid, lazy, habitual, overly self-indulgent, greedy, possessive, stubborn, materialistic, and very slow.

New Moon Conjunct Uranus and Square Saturn

This New Moon is applying a conjunction to Uranus while separating from a square with Saturn in Aquarius. This configuration will strongly reflect the energies and themes of this Lunar cycle, more so than some of the Taurus qualities mentioned above.

The New Moon’s square with Saturn reflects a time of restrictions, boundaries, seriousness, caution, obstacles, negativity, and consolidation. This can especially apply in Aquarius areas such as friends, groups, collectives, and social media, yet can play out in other ways as well.  We may also be faced with a need to get disciplined, orderly, or realistic.

However, Uranus is also in the mix, more strongly, as the Sun and Moon are moving towards it. This can be a period of shake ups, restlessness, sudden changes, separations, awakening, or rebellion. This can also be a time for us to tap into more of our authenticity, take new approaches, or liberate ourselves from inhibiting habits or routines. Developments pertaining to technology, metaphysics, or science can also play out. This Uranus influence will be more apparent from April 25th-26th.

This configuration of these planets with the New Moon this month can give us a taste of what’s to come in 2021 when Saturn and Uranus will be making exact squares with each other. This can play out as limitations, traditions, denial, or the status quo in conflict with freedom, originality, progressiveness, and rebellion. Constructively, it can reflect innovation or implementation of new technological structures.

Taurus Ruler Venus In Post Retrograde Shadow, Square Neptune

Venus, the ruler of Taurus, is currently slowing down before going retrograde on May 13th in Gemini. It has already been in its post-retrograde shadow period since April 9th/10th. Some of the things that are occurring during this current period will contribute to how the retrograde plays out for us.

Venus developments around love, relationships, friends, values, attraction, aesthetics, art, creativity, money, pleasures, social life, and overall social connections may go through some shifts and a sorting out process now and in the coming months. The way we currently see or experience certain Venus ruled areas can change as this retrograde and post-retrograde process plays out. At this time, it can also be a good period to reconnect with old friends and loved ones. I will be covering this upcoming retrograde more in future content, you can join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Venus is applying towards a square with Neptune in Pisces which will last until late May after the retrograde begins, and will begin to get strong from May 1st onward. At best this can be creatively stimulating or bring a spiritual/mystical dimension to our social lives. However, this can also reflect confusion, misunderstandings, disappointments, delusion, and issues around boundaries in our relationships, financially, or perhaps around other Venus areas mentioned above. Escapism with pleasures is also another way this can play out for many people.

Pluto Stationary Retrograde

At the time of this New Moon, Pluto in Capricorn is almost at a complete stop from our perspective on Earth. This is because it is transitioning to retrograde motion on April 25th which will last until early October. Like other ‘outer’ planets, Pluto is retrograde 40% of the time and doesn’t have the same significance as the retrogrades of Venus, Mars, or Mercury.

However, in the weeks when Pluto is stationary, (before and after retrograde begins) its overall energies become more apparent and we sometimes also experience a shift in areas ruled by that planet. This is especially so on April 24th-25th as Mercury forms a square with Pluto as it is changing motion. Communications or information may be intense or revealing during those days.

This will also be extending the already strong Pluto themes we have been experiencing over the last 6 weeks, and in January, due to other planetary conjunctions (Saturn, Jupiter) and the last Lunar Eclipse connected to it.

Pluto is deep, transformative, evolutionary, sexual, intense, and regenerating. It is associated with psychoanalysis and looking beneath the surface. Power, manipulation, secrets, subversion, abuse, jealousy, the underworld, conspiracies, shadows, and darkness are all under the domain of this sign. Pluto also rules viruses, and is likely that this retrograde (combined with other factors) can reflect going back and revisiting something pertaining to the covid-19 situation, or our perception of what is happening.

In a previous article from 2017, I wrote about Pluto’s passage in Capricorn from 2008-2024. This is a period of major changes around government, banking, and business structures in the world which is becoming more apparent now as Pluto has been triggered by other planets. You can read more about that here.

Mercury Superior Conjunction, Nodes Changing Signs

On May 4th/5th, Mercury will be in its ‘Superior Conjunction’. This is an important part of Mercury’s cycle with the Sun. At this point, some of the issues, themes, insights, perspectives, or ideas that have come up since late February or March (during and following the last Mercury retrograde), will reach a point in which we will have more clarity around them.

There can be a change or some sort of progress in relation to what has been playing for the last few months. It can even result in a beginning or ending due to increased certainty around certain circumstances. At this time, our minds can be more aligned with our true needs and self-expression from this period until late June. We can better implement whatever we have been thinking about with greater confidence and direction.

This Mercury cycle fits perfectly into the unfoldment of the global pandemic and shutdown. I would expect that there will be some important news or realizations about it which will come up. at that time which may or may not be publicized. Perhaps there can also be different versions of this for different people with different levels of understanding around what is going on.

Around this same time, on May 5th, the Lunar Nodes will be changing signs which will reflect a shift in energy coinciding with Mercury’s Superior Conjunction. After 18 months of being in the Cancer-Capricorn polarity, they will now be in Gemini-Sagittarius until January 2022. We will also transition into having eclipses in those signs because of this positioning of the nodes. The next eclipse season in June-July will have the final Cancer-Capricorn eclipses and the first Sagittarius eclipse.

Over the next few years, there is a push towards new expressions, or positive qualities, of Gemini while there will be changes around negative or outdated expressions of Sagittarius. There will be both collective and individual manifestations of this.

Gemini is associated with communication, facts, information, intellect, linguistics, the immediate/local environment, and is a social sign. Sagittarius is about beliefs, philosophies, media, higher education, international factors,  and can be an overly broadminded and preachy sign. These are examples of some areas that will be affected until early 2021 and I will be covering more about this in my future eclipse content. Join my mailing list here to ensure that you get notified when I publish new work.

Making Intentions & Things To Consider

What realizations or developments are coming up pertaining to your relationships and social network? Do you feel a need to express your authenticity more? What limitations or restrictions are getting in your way and what innovative approaches can you do as a solution? How can you use technology, innovations, science, or metaphysics to mitigate or overcome challenging circumstances?

Do you need to make changes around issues pertaining to money, resources, and possessions? Do you feel the need to shake things up or separate from something? What are your true values? What can you do to address fears, hidden matters, shadows, darkness, manipulation, or abuse of power? What do you need to purge or transform?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time. However, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment it will occur is 2:26am Universal Time on April 23rd which is the night of the 22nd in the Americas. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

Full Moon In Libra: Deep Perspectives & Transformations

We are having a Full Moon in Libra on April 7th-8th, depending on your time zone. This is the peak of the Lunar cycle that began with a New Moon in Aries on March 24th and the themes mentioned in that article are still in effect. The energies of a Full Moon are strongest in the days surrounding it yet its astrological configurations also play a part over the following two weeks. You may start to see its effects slowly build up after the New Moon prior to it.

Full Moons are a period in which we feel a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case being the Moon in Libra and the Sun in Aries. It can play out as either a conflict, an integration, or some sort of dynamic playing out between the energies of both signs. The Moon reflects the expression of feeling and emotion while the Sun reflects the expression of ego and conscious self.

We may feel this opposition happening individually within us and/or we can also experience it play out around us with some people (or circumstances) expressing the Libra side and others expressing the Aries side. In some cases, Full Moons can also reflect/trigger some sort of change or release.

Full Moon In Libra Opposite Sun In Aries

Aries season began on March 19th/20th and will last until April 19th when the Sun goes into Taurus. Aries is a self oriented and energetic Fire sign ruled by Mars. It is associated with independence, individual needs, leading, and pioneering. It is assertive, courageous, initiating, instinctual, direct, quick, and bold. Negatively, it can be too aggressive, impulsive, impatient, selfish, hot-tempered, combative, restless, and overly competitive.

The Full Moon highlights and brings the energies of the opposing sign of Libra into this Aries backdrop. Libra is a relationship oriented and intellectual Air sign ruled by Venus. It is associated with cooperation, diplomacy, fairness, justice, relating, balance, equality, peace, harmony, aesthetics, art, codependence, consideration of others, and finding common ground.

It is compromising, sociable, creative, charming, communicative, and is about weighing out different sides as it is symbolized by the scales. Negatively, it can be indecisive, impractical, insincere, superficial, vain, overly judgmental, passive aggressive, and people pleasing.

Full Moon Quincunx Neptune

This Full Moon is in a quincunx with Neptune in Pisces. This can reflect the need for adjustments, dealing with frustrations, and/or not seeing things clearly around issues pertaining to that planet. It can also be something that needs to be attended to, or integrated, but may be challenging to do so.

Neptune rules spirituality, ideals, retreating, seclusion, compassion, oneness, dreams, glamour, fantasy, visual arts/media, music, and poetry. It is mystical, psychedelic, creative, sacrificing, and imaginative. Neptune is also associated with intoxication, addiction, escapism, deception, delusion, confusion, lack of boundaries, elusiveness, and a victim/martyr complex.

As far as mundane and worldly affairs are concerned, Neptune rules fossil fuels such as oil and gas. The Covid-19 situation is Neptunian; such as the nature of the illness being portrayed in the media, our perception of it, as well as the potential of deception believed by conspiracy theorists.

Jupiter Conjunct Pluto

Jupiter is currently in a conjunction with Pluto, this is the first time it has occurred since December 2007. This energy has been becoming more noticeable in recent weeks and is peaking this first week of April. However, this energy will play out until the end of the year with it peaking again in early Summer and mid November.

Jupiter is an expansive energy and is associated with learning, education, media, big picture awareness, perspectives, optimism, beliefs, truth, wisdom, travel, foreign countries, and aspirations. Negatively, it can also be excessive, inflated, have blind spots, and disregard limitations and consequences. .

The potential different expressions of Jupiter joins forces with Pluto which is associated with depth, transformation, evolution, regeneration, purging, power, sex, psychoanalysis, inner resources, primal instincts, occult subjects, and looking beneath the surface. It rules fear (or fearlessness), secrets, hidden matters, subversion, jealousy, death, abuse, the underworld, and conspiracies. It can also be intense, violent, destructive, abusive, and dark.

This conjunction is happening in Capricorn and we have already been having so many other significant astrological events occurring in this sign as mentioned in my previous Eclipse articles and recent New Moon content. Capricorn correlates with the structures of the world such as government, authorities, banking, and business. This sign is also associated with our ambitions, careers, mastery, traditions, consolidation, status, and orderliness.

The Lunar South Node (and its eclipses) has been in Capricorn since late 2018 and will transition out this year. Saturn has also been in Capricorn (its own sign) for most of this period which reinforces what it is doing, This process reflects shifts directed at changing/releasing negative qualities or aspects of Capricorn that are not serving us or need to be changed as a result of circumstances. However, some of this process will continue in the coming years as Pluto is still transiting this sign until 2024.

The coming together of Jupiter-Pluto in Capricorn can bring deeper awareness around issues happening in the world yet also in understanding aspects of ourselves or certain areas of our lives. There is opportunity for major changes and transformations. However, this can also feel like a boiling point as Jupiter can expand the negative qualities of Pluto.

Much of it is up to us and how we respond to life’s circumstances, or co-create with this energy,  using our free will. Another thing to consider is that many of things happening now are being seeded into a new Jupiter-Pluto cycle. Many of the combined themes of these planets occurring now and this year will evolve over the next 12-13 years.

Full Moon Square The Jupiter-Pluto Conjunction

The polarity of the Sun in Aries opposing the Full Moon in Libra (mentioned above) is in a t-square with the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction. Full Moon’s can trigger conflict, either within ourselves or with others, and this one has a higher potential of that happening due to the Pluto influence.

The potential Aries expressions of self, action, leadership, hot temperedness, impatience, impulsiveness, forcefulness, one pointedness, inconsideration, and urgency can be at odds with the Libra expressions of balance, peace, harmony, seeing different sides, pleasing,  indecisiveness, idealism, and superficiality. This can be tied into the Jupiter-Pluto themes mentioned.

However, the key here is to try to strike a healthy balance or integration of the positive aspects of both Aries and Libra. Also, the positive aspects of Cancer (which opposes Capricorn) are also themes that should be brought into the equation. Caring, nurturing, security, self-care, instincts, feeling, sympathy, family, domestic life, and emotional well being are different expressions of that sign.

Mars Square Uranus, Mercury Sextile Jupiter-Pluto Conjunction

Mars, the ruler of Aries, has been moving towards a square with Uranus since the end of March (when it entered Aquarius) and is at its peak during this Full Moon. This energy can be impulsive, restless, erratic, rebellious, and be hard to focus and direct ourselves. This can also reflect combativeness towards anything progressive, unusual, unconventional, technological, or metaphysical. Alternatively, this can also be good for asserting ourselves in these ways or with authentic individuality.

Mercury in Pisces is a harmonious aspect with the Jupiter-Pluto energy mentioned above. This can reflect communication and discussion pertaining to the combined themes of these planets. This can also be good for research, expanding our minds, investigating, insights, uncovering truths, and embracing a deeper understanding.

Venus Sextile Chiron, Entering Pre-Retrograde Shadow Period

Venus, the ruler of Libra, is moving towards a sextile with Chiron in Aries which will be strongest from April 9th-11th. Venus areas of love, relationships, friends, values, attraction, aesthetics, art, creativity, money, pleasures, and social life can tie into Chiron themes of wholeness, healing, creative solutions, discovery, teaching, and holistic approaches.

Venus is also entering its pre-Retrograde shadow period on April 9th as it slows down before going retrograde from May 13th-June 25th. Some of the themes and developments that occur over the coming month in the areas pertaining to Venus will continue to unfold and perhaps go through a sorting out period during the retrograde process. Some of it will be connected to the Chiron influence mentioned in the above paragraph. I will be covering this more in future content, you can join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it.

Things To Consider

Do you need to balance your personal needs, perspectives, and independence with diplomacy and consideration of others? Do you need to weigh out different sides? What were you experiencing in 2007 until early 2008 and is there a connection with what was going on then? What area of your life is calling for transformation? Do you need to address the way you assert yourself? What are your relationships showing you and does that area of your life require some sort of healing?

These are just some examples of what to consider at this time. If you wish to do any sort of intentional release, cleansing, or clearing, it is best to initiate after the peak of the Full Moon or as it is waning over the following two weeks. The exact moment of it will be on April 8th at 2:35am Universal Time, but will be the night of the 7th in all of the Americas. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.
