(Nanice Ellis) In full disclosure, I’m not an expert in any of these subjects, but instead, I’m human being (just like you), and most of all, I’m a mother who loves her children and who loves humanity.

(Stacy Malkan) Chlorpyrifos insecticides were introduced by Dow Chemical in 1965 and have been used widely in agricultural settings. Commonly known as the active ingredient in the brand names Dursban and Lorsban, chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate insecticide, acaricide and miticide used primarily to control foliage and soil-borne insect pests on a variety of food and feed crops. Products come in liquid form as well as granules, powders and water-soluble packets, and may be applied by either ground or aerial equipment.

(Dr. Joseph Mercola) Dr. David Hanscom, an orthopedic surgeon whom I’ve previously interviewed about strategies for chronic back pain, quit his practice to focus on educating others on becoming pain-free without surgery. Most recently, after surviving COVID-19, he turned his attention to prevention and surviving it, which is an important part of this discussion.

(Raluca Schachter) Urinary tract infections are among the most common diseases, affecting more than half of all women at some point in life and repeatedly, 25 percent of them. The idea that the urinary tract is a sterile environment has been successfully challenged with the help of technological advances, including culture-independent techniques (qPCR). We now know that urine is not sterile, even in the absence of a clinically relevant infection, and that the entire urinary tract is home to microorganisms, with each unique urinary microbial community.

(Alex ‘Earthie Mama’ Du Toit) As I walked through a major grocery chain store a couple of days ago, I passed a sign that said I could save 10% on my groceries if I got a free flu shot… So if my bill was $250, I save $25 and won’t get the flu! Wow, what a deal, these major corporations must really care about my health…. Wait, what!? Then I turn on the radio and there is a commercial encouraging everyone to go get a FREE flu shot at the following locations…….Every year the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and the pharmaceutical companies embark on an aggressive effort to convince Americans to get their flu shots. There is a push in supermarkets, drug stores, small natural markets and radio commercials everywhere. News outlets post articles about how doctors are urging everyone to get a flu shot because a “deadly flu strain” is going around. Flu shots are a huge business.

(Jonathan L. Zecher) With some communities in rebooted lockdown conditions and movement restricted everywhere else, no one is posting pictures of their sourdough. Zoom cocktail parties have lost their novelty, Netflix can only release so many new series. The news seems worse every day, yet we compulsively scroll through it.

(Paul Lenda) Life is a stream of experiences that help continuously shape who we are. There are certain essential truths that we acknowledge at certain points of our lives, yet usually tuck away into the depths of our subconscious minds. We are usually preoccupied with other things and don’t allow the power of those essential truths to guide us as we navigate through life. That’s why I felt it would be a good idea to reflect on some of the essential truths of life we often forget about.

(Lissa Rankin) As I’m trapped in my house because the air quality where I live in the Bay Area is incompatible with life, as I’m sheltered in place for six months and gave up all summer travel because I want to be a responsible community member and don’t want to hurt anyone who might be at risk of COVID, I am wrestling with how we live in a world where our president doesn’t believe in climate disasters and some doctors with public influence are denying the danger of COVID. I can only make sense of all this by viewing disaster denialism as a trauma response that deserves our compassion.
