Helpful Resource on Senior’s Mental Health during COVID-19

Good afternoon Eddie,

I hope all is well! My name is Joseph with SoCal Mental Health and I’m reaching out because I’m doing research on the affects of COVID-19 and seniors and I came across your resources here: https://eddiesbloglist.rocks/category/websites/

I commend you for making these available to the community. As you know, the pandemic has impacted mental health for people of all ages, but seniors are impacted more than others. According to an article by Bio Med Central, social isolation creates a 50% increased risk of developing dementia, a 29% increased risk of incident coronary heart disease, and a 32% increased risk of stroke. Families can help with isolation by staying in touch via Zoom and FaceTime, and can assist with technology to provide information resources for seniors.

We’ve created a resource page on how COVID-19 affects the mental health of seniors to raise awareness on this issue, and provide insight on ways in which families can support their senior loved ones. You can see our resource here: https://socalsunrisemh.com/how-covid-19-affects-the-mental-health-of-seniors/

Would you be willing to include this link as an additional resource for your users? It would be an honor to be part of your work in supporting the senior community during these trying times. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I look forward to hearing back from you!

Kind regards,

Joseph
