Interest in curcumin is growing as the discovery of new delivery systems increases the bioavailability of the compound.1 Curcumin is the major biologically active polyphenolic compound of turmeric. Turmeric has long been used in Indian cuisine and medicinal use in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine.2 Curcumin is the compound that gives turmeric its yellow color.
Studies have suggested that curcumin is a powerful ally in the treatment of several conditions, such as mood disorders and pain control. Importantly, curcumin can cross the blood-brain barrier3 and has potent neuroprotective properties, which suggests it could be useful for neurodegenerative disorders. The cosmetic and fabric industry also uses turmeric and curcumin.4
In its raw form, curcumin has a very poor absorption rate. Generally, just 1% of the product is absorbed by your body.5 Researchers have investigated a variety of different methods to improve absorption. This has included formulations to optimize bioavailability and delivery methods.
Those that appeared to improve the absorption include delivery as a nanoparticle, combination with polylactic-co-glycolic acid, liposomal encapsulation, and taken orally with piperine,6,7 the active ingredient in black pepper.
Consumer Interest in Curcumin Rises as Bio Delivery Improves
Turmeric is derived from the rhizome of a plant in the ginger family native to Southeast Asia. Curcumin is used in supplements and also in cosmetic products designed to reduce inflammation, which may help acne, eczema, and even slow the appearance of skin aging.8 Rising interest has created a market, which experts believe will grow to $191.89 million by 2028.9
This represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.1% from 2021 to 2028. Product demand has also risen in the food industry, which uses turmeric for natural flavoring and coloring.10 The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric and curcumin are the basis of many of the health claims and foundation for many of the research studies evaluating the compound’s ability to impact many bodily systems.11
However, poor bioavailability of the supplement has hindered scientific study as it is nearly impossible to raise serum concentrations by consuming the supplement alone.12 New drug delivery techniques have included a nanoparticle system, which researchers have found “increases all the biological and pharmacological benefits of curcumin.”13
Several nanoencapsulation techniques were developed to overcome the low therapeutic effects of the compound. To date, many of these are still being researched to find a promising therapeutic candidate for consumer use.14 Other research has focused on compounds that may be administered concurrently that could enhance absorption.
One study found when curcumin was combined with piperine, the major active component of black pepper, it increased the bioavailability of the combination by 2000%.15 However, studies have also shown that piperine inhibits enzymes used to metabolize some drugs and thereby raises the plasma concentration, which can trigger severe adverse side effects.16
Curcumin Has Neuroprotective Properties
Natural plants have been used for medicinal purposes throughout history, and turmeric is no exception. There is evidence it was used in human health as far back as 4,000 years ago and there have been over 3,000 papers published on it within the last 25 years.17
One animal study18 analyzed the effect that curcumin may have on learning and spatial memory in adult and aged mice. The researchers found the animals receiving curcumin performed significantly better than those who did not. They believe the results show that curcumin helps mitigate the cognitive impairment associated with a decrease in brain cell proliferation and neuroblast differentiation.
Several papers have suggested evidence that curcumin plays a role in the prevention and treatment of other neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease,19 Parkinson’s disease20 and memory impairment without dementia.21 Other brain disorders that have been positively affected by the administration of curcumin include multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s disease, stroke, autism and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).22
Researchers have also found older adults who took the supplement for at least four weeks showed a significant improvement in working memory, general fatigue and contentedness.23 A second study24 examined the effects of curcumin on individuals who had no history of dementia. They followed 40 people between the ages of 50 and 90 years who had mild memory complaints for 18 months.
The data showed25 that those who took curcumin had significant improvements in memory and attention, as well as mild improvement in mood and significantly fewer amyloid and tau signals in the amygdala and hypothalamus, areas of the brain that control some memory and emotional functions. The study’s first author, Dr. Gary Small, said in a press release:26
“Exactly how curcumin exerts its effects is not certain, but it may be due to its ability to reduce brain in?ammation, which has been linked to both Alzheimer’s disease and major depression.”
One meta-analysis27 of six short-term, placebo-controlled clinical trials showed that curcumin “appears to be safe, well-tolerated and efficacious among depressed patients,” and could serve as a “novel antidepressant.”
Curcumin also has shown an effect on neuropsychiatric disorders. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America,28 anxiety disorder is one of the most common mental illnesses and may develop from a complex set of risk factors.
A second study29 of 123 people diagnosed with major depressive disorder compared curcumin intervention groups to a placebo group. They found those using curcumin experienced improvements without a difference in outcome using three different doses of curcumin. Additionally, three of the trials also reported significant antianxiety effects.
Another literature review30 assessed the benefits of curcumin on several psychiatric disorders. The researchers wrote that the influence of curcumin on several biological activities may be responsible for the results. Additionally, many of these biological activities “are dysregulated in several neuropsychiatric disorders.”31
Anti-Inflammatory Properties Promote Pain Control
Arthritis is a common diagnosis that affects up to 54.4 million people in the U.S. A 2019 report from the Arthritis Foundation32 estimates this number will increase 49% to 78.4 million people by 2040. Additionally, they estimate the number whose activities are limited due to arthritis will jump from 43.5% with the condition in 2015 to 52% by 2040.
People often turn to anti-inflammatory and pain medications to help relieve the pain and discomfort from arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation33 lists several pain relief options to potentially improve activity levels, including topical and oral nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids, hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma and stem cell injections. Yet, many of these treatments have a list of side effects and are not always well-tolerated.
The safety and nontoxicity of curcumin, even at high doses, have been documented in human trials.34 Curcumin has been studied for pain relief in those with osteoarthritis, which is the most common form of arthritis.35 In one study36 of 139 people with knee osteoarthritis, researchers compared those taking curcumin against those taking diclofenac twice-daily for 28 days.
On Days 14 and 28 there were no statistically significant differences between people taking curcumin and those taking diclofenac in pain measurements. Additionally, the people taking curcumin had fewer episodes of flatulence, statistically significant weight loss and did not require an H2 blocker to reduce excess stomach acid, which 28% of those using diclofenac did.
Researchers found that curcumin had an effect on reducing pain similar to diclofenac, but was better tolerated and had fewer side effects. Similar results have been found in studies that evaluate curcumin for pain control after surgery.
One study37 looked at patient-reported outcomes after laparoscopic cholecystectomy and despite issues with bioavailability, those taking curcumin had better mean pain scores during the first and second week after surgery and better fatigue scores in the first three weeks.
In an animal study,38 researchers found that curcumin reduced the perception of pain in “incision-induced inflammation, nociceptive sensitization, spontaneous pain and functional gait abnormalities.” A second animal study39 found similar results, including pain relief in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, curcumin treatment appeared to facilitate recovery.
Curcumin: Endothelial Angiogenesis Suppression and Generation
Researchers have also found that curcumin has a unique property in which it both promotes and suppresses angiogenesis. One study40 published by the University of California-Riverside41 demonstrated that curcumin could promote vascular tissue growth, which may eventually be used to help regenerate injured tissue or to heal chronic wounds.
According to 2020 estimates,42 nearly 2.5% of the U.S. experiences chronic wounds and an analysis43 of Medicare data in 2018 identified roughly 8.2 million people with chronic wounds that may or may not have been infected. The estimated cost of treatment ranges from $28.2 billion to $96.8 billion.
The research was built on hyaluronic acid hydrogels, which earlier research44 showed were highly stable, even after being injected through a fine clinical needle or undergoing sterilization. Additionally, they showed good biocompatibility in lab testing. The researchers synthesized curcumin magnetic nanoparticles which they dispersed in a hyaluronic acid hydrogel.45
When tested in stem cell culture, they found it promoted vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and vascular tissue growth. The magnetic properties allowed the scientists to direct the movement of the nanoparticles to the desired location.
They believe this suggests a unique delivery system to help heal injured tissue and concluded, “Overall, our magnetic hydrogels integrated the desirable properties of cytocompatibility and angiogenesis with magnetic guidance, thus proving to be promising for improving tissue regeneration.”46
As the researchers from the University of California noted in a press release,47 curcumin has also demonstrated the ability to suppress cell growth in malignant tumors. Researchers have found this in several types of cancer, including small cell lung cancer,48 breast cancer,49 pancreatic cancer50 and ovarian cancer.51
Effect on Inflammation May Improve Eye Health
The anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin may also affect eye health. Eye conditions can be difficult to treat and may affect your eyesight. Anterior uveitis52 is an eye condition that can result from trauma or is associated with other health conditions such as tuberculosis, rheumatoid arthritis and viral infections. In some cases, there is no obvious underlying cause.
In one study,53 patients with anterior uveitis received a 375 mg dose of curcumin three times a day for 12 weeks. There were 32 participants who completed the 12-week study and results showed that curcumin was effective in reducing symptoms and recurrences in the following three years.
In addition to being a potent antioxidant,54 curcumin also boosts the function of your own antioxidant enzymes.55,56,57 Overall, curcumin appears to be powerful, cost-effective and has a low toxicity profile.
As such, it could be a valuable supplement, especially for the aging population. In younger people, the beneficial impact on pathways that help reverse insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and obesity58,59 are worth noting. In all, I believe curcumin is a valuable nutritional addition worthy of consideration for all-around good health since inflammation drives so many different disease processes.
This article was previously published April 8, 2019, and has been updated with new information.
Your liver weighs a little over 3 pounds and is located on the right side of your abdomen. Reddish brown in color, it’s rubbery to the touch and protected by your rib cage.1 Your liver is the largest solid organ and one of the largest glands in your body, carrying out over 500 essential tasks to maintain optimal health.2
One of the main jobs of the organ is to process and purify blood coming from the hepatic artery and the hepatic portal vein. The liver has two main lobes, each of which have eight segments.3 Each segment is made up of approximately 1,000 lobules connected by small ducts that eventually come together to form the common hepatic duct.4
In addition to filtering your blood, the liver regulates many chemical levels and excretes bile your intestines use to help break down fat.5 Your liver also produces cholesterol, stores and releases glucose as needed, and regulates blood clotting. As your liver metabolizes chemicals or breaks down harmful substances, they are released into the bile or blood.
Bile enters your intestines and ultimately leaves your body in stool, while blood by-products are filtered out by your kidneys and leave through your urine. Your body stores vitamins A, D, E, K and B12 in the liver,6 and the liver functions as part of the phagocyte system, a portion of the immunological function of your body.7
In other words, your liver is highly important to your health. It is also the only organ in your body able to regenerate.8 In mice, if two-thirds of the liver is removed, the tissue regrows to its normal size within seven days. In humans, as long as 25 percent of healthy tissue remains, it regrows without any loss of function in approximately 15 days.
What Do Your Liver Enzymes Tell You?
Although most health practitioners rely on reference ranges provided by a laboratory or defined by their hospital facility, there is an evidence-based set of optimal ranges that more readily predict underlying pathology. Dr. Brian Walsh is a naturopathic physician who has extensive training in molecular biological pathways.
In a previous article, one topic we discussed were two of the tests commonly used to evaluate liver function — the liver enzymes aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The laboratory value ranges for the high end for AST is 40 units per liter (U/L) and 56 U/L for ALT.9
However, Walsh believes the medical literature “very clearly show that, a) men and women should have different AST and ALT reference ranges, and b) [the ideal range] is not much above 20 U/L.”
These two specific enzymes are found mainly in your liver. They are elevated when there is a form of liver damage or injury. A sudden acute jump may indicate injury to the liver, while chronically elevated levels may suggest ongoing damage.
Some of the more common diseases triggering elevated ALT and AST are viral hepatitis A, B or C, cirrhosis of the liver, alcoholic fatty liver disease, hemochromatosis (iron overload) or diminished blood flow from shock or heart failure.10
Another measurement important in the prediction of mortality is gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT). This liver enzyme is correlated with iron toxicity, increased disease risk and all-cause mortality.11 In an interview with Gerry Koenig, chairman of the board at the Iron Disorders Institute, we discuss the importance of GGT and its involvement in glutathione metabolism and transport of amino acids.
GGT is an important measurement of liver damage,12 potentially greater than AST or ALT, and may also be used as a biomarker for excess iron and early death. Determining mortality risk is a chief responsibility of insurance underwriters who use laboratory values and biomarkers to assign risk scores.13
Liver function tests, particularly GGT, have become a central factor in the life insurance underwriting process.14 GGT is necessary in the production of your body’s primary antioxidant, glutathione. When elevated, it breaks glutathione down.15
Researchers have also found variations in enzyme levels are inheritable and may change by age and sex. To examine the genetic architecture, researchers sampled twins, their siblings, parents and spouses, and found the same genes influence liver enzymes, but the relative contribution to the variation differs in males and females.16
The Importance of Monitoring Iron Levels for Liver Health
Another factor associated with liver damage is iron overload. Iron is one of the most common nutritional supplements used today, as you may find it isolated, added to multivitamins and in fortified processed foods. While it’s necessary for biological function, too much may do tremendous damage.
In fact, iron overload may be a more common problem, and far more dangerous, than iron deficiency anemia.17 Nearly all adult men and postmenopausal women are at risk for iron overload as there is no clear efficient iron excretion method. In other words, these populations do not lose blood on a regular basis.
Blood loss is the primary way to lower excess iron. If excess iron is left untreated it may contribute to cancer, heart disease, diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases.18 Iron triggers damage by catalyzing a reaction with hydrogen peroxide within the mitochondrial membrane, forming hydroxyl free radicals.
These are among the most damaging free radicals and cause severe mitochondrial dysfunction.19 This in turn is at the heart of many chronic degenerative diseases.
GGT may also be used as a screening marker for excess free iron,20 as it is highly interactive with iron and will tend to raise GGT levels. When your serum ferritin and GGT are high, you have a significantly increased risk of chronic health problems.
Balance Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fats for Optimal Liver Function
The American Liver Foundation estimates nearly 25 percent of adults in the U.S. are affected by nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The condition is associated with serious risks as it may cause the liver to swell (steatohepatitis) and may lead to liver cancer or liver failure.21
It often has no symptoms but may be suspected if you suffer from other associated conditions and your blood tests have high levels of liver enzymes. Progression from NAFLD to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is one of the leading causes of cirrhosis in adults in the U.S.22
Excess amounts of omega-6 fatty acids are challenging to the liver.23 Although both omega-3 and omega-6 are necessary for good health, dietary changes over the past several decades have increased the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 up to 25-to-1, well above a healthier 5-to-1 ratio, or the 1-to-1 ratio recommended by some experts.24
Experimental studies have suggested this divergence increases your body’s ability to gain fat and, more importantly, increase systemic inflammation. Additionally, the lopsided ratio plays a role in the development of obesity through an increased activity of the cannabinoid system and AA eicosanoid metabolites.25
Researchers have found this process may be reversed by increasing eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), both components of marine-based omega-3 fat. Research has also found excessive amounts of damaged omega-6 are associated with inflammatory diseases such as NAFLD, cardiovascular disease, inflammatory bowel disease and Alzheimer’s disease.26
The primary therapeutic action of marine-based omega-3 is reducing inflammation, while omega-6 is needed to initiate the inflammatory response.27 When the ratio is unbalanced in favor of omega-6, it increases the rate of inflammation. Other health benefits associated with a healthy omega-3 to omega-6 ratio include balancing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride levels,28 reducing blood pressure29 and preventing atherosclerosis.30
In addition to reducing the risk of obesity and inflammation, balancing your omega-3 fatty acids against your omega-6 intake can also help reduce your GGT level,31 improve liver fat, reduce triglycerides and improve HDL levels in those with NAFLD or NASH, both inflammatory processes not triggered by alcohol intake.
Cholesterol Profile Reveals Challenges
Your liver is responsible for cholesterol regulation, as it not only synthesizes cholesterol but also removes it from your body, converting it to bile salts to be eliminated in your feces.32
When damaged, your liver is unable to regulate cholesterol levels normally.33 This may result in atherogenic dyslipidemia, or elevated levels of triglycerides and LDL, with low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) — levels commonly associated with the development of atherosclerosis plaques and heart disease.34
However, there is also an association between dyslipidemia and insulin resistance.35 Insulin resistance alters lipid metabolism, leading to the development of atherogenic dyslipidemia, contributing to atherosclerotic plaque formation.36
One reason atherogenic dyslipidemia is a predictor of heart disease is because it indicates insulin resistance, which means in some ways your cholesterol panel may tell you more about your insulin resistance and glucose intolerance than anything else.37
Normalize Your Liver Function Naturally
Dr. David Unwin, a low-carb advocate, was voted among the top 50 most influential general practitioners in the U.K. in September 2018.38 In this short video, he discusses the health improvements patients in his practice have experienced, pertaining to insulin resistance and liver function, as they follow a low-carbohydrate diet.
Your carbohydrate intake has an effect on your glucose metabolism, liver function and your risk of heart disease, stroke and Type 2 diabetes. Reducing carbs to 50 grams for every 1,000 calories and increasing your intake of healthy fats is a powerful way to support your mitochondrial health and reduce your risk of chronic disease. Other ways of protecting your liver health include:
Optimizing your omega-3 to omega-6 ratio — Maintaining a balance of omega-6 to omega-3 fats as close to 1-to-1 is ideal. Omega-3 fat may be found in wild caught Alaskan salmon, herring, mackerel and anchovies. Consider using a high quality krill oil supplement if you don’t eat these fatty fish on a regular basis. Reduce or eliminate processed foods, which are high in damaged omega-6 fats, and vegetable oils for cooking.
Giving blood — If you are male or a postmenopausal woman, giving blood twice a year helps lower your iron level and protect your liver from damage.
Exercising — Exercise helps burn triglycerides for fuel and may help reduce liver fat.39
Take N-acetylcysteine (NAC) — This is a precursor to glutathione, a powerful antioxidant that helps reduce oxidative stress and is used in the treatment of chronic fatty liver diseases.40
Avoid medications — Many drugs and hormones are first metabolized through your liver, including birth control and anabolic steroids — in fact, nearly 50% of all drugs on the market are metabolized by just one enzyme in the liver.41
Over-the-counter (OTC) medication such as Tylenol and cold and pain remedies are also metabolized through your liver, as are statins, acid blockers, antifungals and certain antibiotics — in all, over 1,000 OTC drugs and herbal medicines have been associated with drug-induced liver injury.42,43
Avoid alcohol if you have NAFLD or NASH — It’s important to drink alcoholic beverages responsibly, however if you already suffer from NAFLD or NASH, alcohol may increase your risk of cirrhosis and destroy your liver cells.44
Optimize your gut — The release of undigested food and bacteria from a leaky gut condition eventually results in liver inflammation. Emerging evidence has suggested a strong relationship between your gut health and your liver.45
Your liver receives nearly 70% of its blood supply from the intestines through the portal vein.46 Researchers have also discovered up to 75% of those who suffer from chronic liver disease also suffer from microbiome imbalance.47
While many still refuse to believe it, financial experts and insiders have long warned that a collapse of the U.S. currency is a mathematical inevitability.1,2 The most surprising thing, really, is that it has lasted this long. The same can be said for the financial system of the world as a whole.
Collapse Predictions Go Back More Than a Decade
In 2011, Business Insider warned “the dollar collapse will be the single largest event in human history,” touching “every single living person in the world.”3 They also warned that “The collapse of currencies will lead to the collapse of ALL paper assets,” and that “The repercussions to this will have incredible results worldwide.”
That same year, liberal billionaire George Soros echoed the same warning, saying “We’re on the verge of an economic collapse.”4 The main difference was that Soros predicted the collapse of the Euro. Soros also noted that:5
“It’s a kind of financial crisis that is really developing. It’s foreseen. Most people realize it. It’s still developing. The authorities are actually engaged in buying time.”
So far, authorities have successfully “bought time,” holding the system together with proverbial duct tape and paperclips. But eventually, time will run out and the system will fail. To quote Ayn Rand, “You can ignore reality, but you can’t ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.”
In 2013, investment adviser and financial strategist Michael Pento warned:6 “Our addictions to debt and cheap money have finally caused our major international creditors to call for an end to dollar hegemony and to push for a ‘de-Americanized’ world.”
That same year, Canadian billionaire investor Ned Goodman also predicted7 that “the dollar is about to become dethroned as the world’s defacto currency,” that we were “headed to a period of stagflation, maybe serious inflation,” and that “the United States will be losing the privilege of being able to print at its will the global reserve currency.”
More recently, in June 2020, economist and former Morgan Stanley Asia chairman, Stephen Roach, told CNBC:8
“The U.S. economy has been afflicted with some significant macro imbalances for a long time, namely a very low domestic savings rate and a chronic current account deficit. The dollar is going to fall very, very sharply9 … These problems are going from bad to worse as we blow out the fiscal deficit in the years ahead.”
Don’t Expect a ‘Soft Landing’
All of last year, even as inflation started rising before our eyes, authorities denied that things were as bad as they seemed. Inflation is transitory, they said. It wasn’t until May 2022 that Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell finally admitted that executing a soft landing may be beyond the Federal Reserve’s control (see video above).
Powell’s definition of a “soft landing” was 2% inflation with a strong labor market. Clearly, we’re well past that point already. The chart below, from U.S. Inflation Calculator, is illustrative.10
U.S. inflation is currently at 8.3%, but in some markets, it’s in the double digits. Used car sales, for example, have seen an inflation rate of 22.7% in the past 12 months.11 Globally, food prices increased by 29.8% between April 2021 and April 2022.12
May 31, 2022, Treasury secretary Janet Yellen finally also admitted13 she was wrong when, in 2021, she said inflation would be a “small risk” that would be “manageable” and “not a problem.” In an interview with CNN host Wolf Blitzer, Yellen claimed:
“There have been unanticipated and large shocks to the economy that have boosted energy and food prices, and supply bottlenecks that affected our economy badly that I didn’t, at the time, fully understand.”
How the treasury secretary could be so ignorant of fiscal realities is hard to fathom. But she’s not the only one trying to blame our financial situation on “unanticipated” events. Participants at the World Economic Forum’s Davos meeting blame inflation on corporate greed, which only proves they’re unqualified to manage anything, let alone a global economy. As noted by Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul:14
“If you were in a third-grade class, I’d give you a failing grade if you told me inflation was caused by greed. That is the dumbest explanation, the most implausible, lacking all facts, that someone could put forward.
Inflation is caused by an increase in the money supply … The Federal Reserve prints it up to borrow it; it floods the economy and drives prices up. If you don’t understand that, it’ll never get any better.”
Again, recall that Soros in 2011 stated that economic collapse is “foreseen” and that authorities were simply buying time before the inevitable collapse.15 Now that we’re in the economy’s final death throes, those who have been aware of the trajectory for well over a decade, if not longer, cannot admit it, because then they’d have to explain why they didn’t act to stop it.
Such an admission would also expose the central bank system as the fraud that it is. So, they now blame anything they can think of, even if it makes no rational sense.
Big Picture Overview
In a June 5, 2022, Twitter thread, Kim Dotcom provided the following overview of the situation and how we got here:16
“The reality is that the U.S. has been bankrupt for some time and what’s coming is a nightmare: Mass poverty and a new system of control … Total U.S. debt is at $90 trillion. U.S. unfunded liabilities are at $169 trillion. Combined that’s $778,000 per U.S. citizen or $2,067,000 per U.S. tax payer.
Remember, the only way the US Government can operate now is by printing more money. Which means hyperinflation is inevitable. The total value of ALL companies listed on the U.S. stock market is $53 trillion.
The real value is much lower because the US has been printing trillions to provide interest free loans to investment banks to pump up the stock market. It’s a scam. Most of the $53 trillion is air.
The value of all U.S. assets combined, every piece of land, real estate, all savings, all companies, everything that all citizens, businesses, entities and the state own is worth $193 trillion. That number is also full of air just like the U.S. stock market.
Let’s do the math: U.S. total debt $90 trillion; U.S. unfunded liabilities $169 trillion. Total $259 trillion. Minus all U.S. assets, $193 trillion. Balance, -$66 trillion. That’s $66 trillion of debt and liabilities after every asset in the U.S. has been sold off … So even if the U.S. could sell all assets at the current value, which is impossible, it would still be broke. The U.S. is beyond bankrupt …”
At the root of this collapse is money printing. As noted by this Twitter user, the U.S. has been running a deficit since 2001. In the last 50 years, the U.S. has had only four years during which it made a profit, and that profit wouldn’t even cover six months-worth of the current annual deficit.
With debt and spending spiraling out of control for so long, the U.S. government has had no choice but to print more money, which only makes the problem worse. Money printing is what causes inflation. It’s incorrect to view inflation as a price increase, per se.
It’s really a decline in the value, or purchasing power, of the currency. The value of your money declines as the pool of total dollars available increases. Here’s a chart showing how the printing of money has skyrocketed over time.
How Has the Dollar Survived This Long?
The reason the dollar has survived this long is because it’s the world’s reserve currency. Nations around the world must hold U.S. dollars as it’s the currency used for world trade. Many have lived under the illusion that this would never change. Alas, nothing in this world is permanent.
As the U.S. has continued to print dollars, it has caused inflation around the world, so the supremacy of the dollar is no longer uncontested. And, when the dollar does finally collapse, global markets will go down with it — unless countries ditch the dollar as the reserve currency first, which would be an absolute disaster for Americans, as it would trigger hyperinflation almost immediately.
Basically, one way of looking at money printing and the resulting inflation is as a form of theft. Value is stolen. Purchasing power is stolen. And the inflation of the dollar is, as Kim Dotcom notes,17 “The biggest theft in history,” as it affects the whole world.
What’s more, there’s no way to fix this problem. There’s no way out. As in a personal bankruptcy, at a certain point, there’s no way for you to ever pay back the interest you owe on the money you borrowed. At that point, your only option is to file for bankruptcy and start over.
In 2020, the World Economic Forum formally announced that a Great Reset is in the works, and this “reset” is basically how the globalist cabal intends to “fix” this situation. It’s not an attractive solution for the average person, however, because The Great Reset solves the problem by transferring all the world’s wealth and power into the hands of the few and erasing democracy worldwide in one fell swoop.
Basically, they’re now trying to control the demolition of the world’s financial system in such a way that people will voluntarily agree to their new system. What many still fail to understand is that the new system will be far worse than the old one. At least under the fiat currency central bank system, there was the illusion that the average person could build wealth.
Under The Great Reset’s new centralized financial system, all wealth and all the world’s resources will be under the control of unelected technocrats who will rule and micromanage your personal life through technological surveillance and algorithms — all under the guise of “saving the planet.”
Who Owns and Controls the World
Already, 90% of all S&P 500 firms are owned by a mere three investment firms: BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street. This includes drug companies and the centralized legacy media, which I reviewed in “The Same Shady People Own Big Pharma and the Media.”
Time Warner, Comcast, Disney and News Corp — four of the six media companies that control more than 90% of the U.S. media landscape18,19 — are owned by BlackRock and Vanguard. Needless to say, if you have control of this many news outlets, you can control entire nations by way of carefully orchestrated and organized centralized propaganda disguised as journalism.
The assets of BlackRock alone are valued at $10 trillion.20 Making this circle of power even smaller, Vanguard is the largest shareholder of BlackRock.21,22 And who owns Vanguard? Due to its legal structure, ownership is difficult to discern. It’s owned by its various funds, which in turn are owned by the shareholders. Aside from these shareholders, it has no outside investors and is not publicly traded.23
That said, many of the oldest, richest families in the world can be linked to Vanguard funds, including the Rothschilds,24,25 the Orsini family, the Bush family, the British Royal family, the du Pont family, and the Morgans, Vanderbilts and Rockefellers.
Considering BlackRock in 2018 announced that it has “social expectations” from the companies it invests in,26 its potential role as a central hub in The Great Reset and the “build back better” plan cannot be overlooked.
Add to this information showing it “undermines competition through owning shares in competing companies” and “blurs boundaries between private capital and government affairs by working closely with regulators,”27,28 and one would be hard-pressed to not see how BlackRock/Vanguard and their globalist owners might be able to facilitate The Great Reset and the so-called “green” revolution, both of which are part of the same wealth-theft scheme.
The Controlled Demolition of Food and Finance
At this point, it’s important to understand that The Great Reset involves not only the controlled demolition of finance but also the controlled demolition of our food system. After all, he who controls the food really controls the world. As explained by Kit Knightly in Off-Guardian:29
“We’re in the early stages of a food crisis. The press has been predicting this for years, but up until now it always appeared to be nothing more than fearmongering, designed to worry or distract people, but the signs are there that this time, to quote Joe Biden, it ‘is going to be real.’
Nobody knows how bad it could get, except the people who are creating it. Because the evidence is pretty clear, it is being deliberately and cold-bloodedly created … We have Russia’s ‘special operation’ in Ukraine driving up the price of staple foods, wheat and sunflower oil, as well as fertilizer.
We have the sudden ‘bird flu outbreak’ driving up the price of poultry and eggs. The soaring price of oil is driving up the cost of food distribution. The inflation caused by huge influxes of fiat currency means families are spending more money on less food. And as all this is happening, the U.S. and UK (and maybe others, we don’t know) are literally paying farmers not to farm …
Just as the COVID ‘pandemic’ was said to highlight ‘weaknesses in the multilateral system,’ so this food crisis will show that our ‘unstable food systems are in need of reform’ and we need to ensure our ‘food security’ … or a thousand variations on that theme …
In an interview from July last year, Ruth Richardson the Executive Director of the NGO Global Alliance for the Future of Food literally said: ‘Our dominant food system needs to be dismantled and rebuilt’ …
Writing in the Guardian two weeks ago, George Monbiot, weathervane for every deep state agenda, states with his trademark lack of subtlety: ‘The banks collapsed in 2008 — and our food system is about to do the same … The system has to change.’”
So, just what kind of food system is the globalist cabal dreaming of implementing? Well, the World Economic Forum has been talking about this for years, so it’s not hard to figure out what they want to transition us into.
One key change will be to transition us away from real meat and into patentable lab-grown meats. They’ve also been pushing the idea of eating bugs, weeds and gene-edited foods.
“Supranational companies, with profits larger than the budget of some nations, are developing carbon footprint tracker apps30 which reward people for making the ‘right decisions. That could easily be applied to food,’” Knightly adds.31
“The play is clear: Right now they’re getting ready to tear all our old food systems down, with the stated aim of building them back better. But better for them, not us.”
The Time to Prepare Is Now
Even if you don’t believe the worst-case scenarios are possible, I urge you to prepare for at least some measure of pain. Perhaps food shortages won’t turn into total famine conditions, but they might. At bare minimum, consider storing a few months of extra food for your family, as prices in the near future are only going to go up, and/or start growing some of your own food.
Likewise, whether the economic crash ends up being hard or soft, prepare yourself for potential financial hardship. Buying physical precious metals could be one defensive strategy, as it can help protect against currency devaluation. Investing in real assets, such as land could be another.
It’s hard to make definitive recommendations, as your strategy will depend on your personal situation, so take some time to think things through. If you do nothing to hedge your bets, you may one day find yourself left with nothing — which is precisely what the World Economic Forum has declared will be our lot. Other key areas of basic preparation were listed in yesterday’s article, “Are You Prepared for the Coming Food Catastrophe?”
